Center Ryan Wendell "Secret Superstar"

Just because there are a couple of top center prospects in the draft doesn't mean that he will be reasonably available to us. Personally, I would NOT want to go into the draft with McDonald and Connolly as my centers. As I said, if the issue is money, then I would consider paying Wendell a bit more and perhaps cut Connolly.

I absolutely agree with you that at this specific moment, Wendell appears to be one of our biggest worries in terms of hitting free agency at the end of this season; however, I also think that there are always other options available in most situations, and that many things can change between now and then.

I don't personally feel as though the team itself as quite as worried about losing him as you are though. I think they want to see another season like last year first before offering him their version of a fair deal. Whether or not he can do that again, along with staying healthy, will obviously be the key to helping his cause. On top of that, I'm sure they'll assess the situation with the top several center prospects of the draft, the situation with a guy like Nick McDonald, and possibly even weigh out their options with Connelly too.

Scenario A is that Wendell will be a longer term option for us....Scenario B is that he was simply a value deal at the position under a cheaper deal for a year or two.

I always get PFF and PFT confused when people use either one here...I don't really get all aflutter when I browse PFT but I haven't slummed the sewer of Pro Football Focus for years now. It's continued existence points to one axiom, throw enough crap at a wall a some is bound to stick.

They both suck big time one is a completely flawed statical site and the other is a completely flawed/biased reporter. Istay away from both and am happier for it and regularly reminded why on here.

We need to resign Scar for the next 30 years or so. He's been the best contributor to our offensive line for the past 13 years.

In all seriousness, Solder needs a serious extension before he figures out he's a top 10 LT in the league, with the potential to be top 4 or 5.

He'll be 66 when the season's over, so I'm guessing that he and Belichick may end up leaving roughly around the same time frame. I'm really hoping that we can just get another 5-6 yrs out of both of them. Hopefully someone else is being groomed, but it'll be a sad day when Dante retires.

I'm thinking potentially at the end of the year/next offseason maybe? He's only 2 yrs into a 5 yr deal though at the moment.

Wendell is one of the Big Three for re-signing in 2014: Wendell, Ninkovich and Talib (some would add Spikes). I hope that an extension can come soon.

I wouldn't overpay Wendell. It'd be great to get him back on a friendly contract but I'm confident Dante can put together a quality line with just about any 5 guys from the face of the earth. Guy really doesn't get enough credit for what he does.

I don't think Spikes is in there personally. I think depending on how Collins turns out, Spikes looks to be on the outer IMO.

I think in an ideal world they would want a LB trio of Mayo, Hightower and Collins with Mayo or Hightower at Mike.

Talib will be interesting as i think if he plays well he will want big $$$ and if he plays poorly he might not stick around.

But to keep our core at a medium price definitely Wendell and Nink.

I nominate the guy on the right.

Yeah, I could definitely see Spikes being gone and them going with Hightower in the middle and Collins at Sam. Kind of crazy to think about how much more athletic that group gets when you replace Spikes with Collins.

Agreed, although if Spikes were to show more leadership and positive traits outside of the field along with continued progression while playing, that could possibly change.

At this point in time, I agree that Spikes leaving would be the overwhelming popular consensus on the forum.

Definitely needs a haircut first
