Tebow, Blount, Edelman

Keep rooting against your own players...it shows your true agenda.

I just said that if Tebow competes for the 4th tight end position, as well as a member of the special teams, serves the role as emergency QB, and competes for the long snapping job so that the Pats don't have to have one roster spot solely for a long snapper then I am for him being here.

With that said - he is not a starting caliber quarterback. Deal with it.

It turns out there are at least 35 better QBs in the league too, at one point last season Mark Sanchez was the 34th ranked QB in the league and when he went down GREG MCELROY got the start, not super duper Timmy!

The guy is a scrub and should not be in the league, you poor indoctrinated souls need to see this - if the Pats didn't pick him up off the scrap heap for whatever reason the guy would not be in the league at all.

Has a higher lifetime QB rating than several starting QBs in the NFL including Sanchez.

32 NFL Tds before the jets debacle

career 5.2 YPC

one of the lowest turnover percentages per touches among starting QBs in their first year starting.

Oh and the whole 6 comebacks thing.

There is plenty to work with for a quarterback 3.

There's no "whatever reason" about it. It's absolutely clear that they like him as a football player and see him as someone who can compete for a position on the 53. They wouldn't have signed him for any other reason.

As for "not being in the league at all", there is no basis for making that argument which makes it meaningless.

In fact, those making the argument that a) no team wanted to sign Tebow and B) that he was traded for and then cut by a team must all think Richard Seymour sucks big time.

you said you couldn't wait until he is cut....deal with what you really said.

just something else I noticed around the time we signed him - had better CFB QB stats than first rounder EJ Manuel.

I know that I want a starting or backup quarterback with a 47.9% pass completion rate including going 19-47 in the 2011 playoffs. Note my deep sarcasm.

I will and frankly with Tebow Pom Poms like yourself, I cannot wait for him to be cut if all he is doing is competing for a roster slot behind Brady and Mallett.

it's sad that some people who claim to support the team don't support all the players on the team. It seems contradictory to me. I agree with you Ironman.

I'm not following this discussion.

If Tebow is the say the 60th best quarterback in the NFL, then there is room for him on some roster.

The patriots are not dealing with the issue of whether Tebow is a starting quality quarterback. We have one of those. I would note that no one else wanted him even a competitor for the starting quarterback position.

The OPEN question is whether Tebow has a place on ANY roster in the NFL in 2013.

This is one of those myths that has been repeated so often that is accepted as fact. Even though people like Trey Wingo seem to delight in stating this (if you don't believe me, watch his face light up as he smiles more than he does at any other time next time he gets a chance to do so), the reality is that Belichick was extremely close to making Brady the starter of training camp in 2001, and would have made the change soon after even without Mo Lewis.

For anybody that wasn't following the Pats very closely (or at all) at the start of the 2001 season, I highly recommend that you take the time to read Education of a Coach and Patriot Reign while awaiting the start of the 2013 NFL season.

Spot on.
I was at training camp in 2001 and Brady went from a guy I hadn't noticed in 2000 (was I watching Michael Bishop? ) to clearly outplaying Bledsoe. Went to camp several times that summer. I remember thinking too bad Kraft just gave Drew that $100 M (sic) contract with this guy on the team.

Figuring the constant whining about Tebow, I figured that there must be some really good #3 QBs out there that we're missing out on by having this useless Tebow person on our roster. So help me out here. Are we really improving this roster by adding:

*drumroll*

Caleb Hanie
Ryan Lindley
Jimmy Claussen
John Skelton
Kellen Moore
Rex Grossman

etc

So what are people complaining about? Those are the relevant comps for Tebow in terms of his roster position. No matter how much one's dislike for Tebow, try making the argument that any of them makes enough of a roster improvement to be worth a damn.

American Idol season 4 winner Carrie Underwood wanted Tim Tebow to pay for the Titans after the broncos signed Peyton

Carrie Underwood Wanted Tim Tebow in Nashville

When football quarterback Peyton Manning announced he was signing with the Denver Broncos Monday (March 19), the decision was met with both cheers and disappointment from the Nashville community; the Tennessee Titans had hoped to add Peyton to their roster. But, Peyton's signing in Denver meant current Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow would likely be traded. Nashville resident Carrie Underwood recently shared her opinion of the situation, and thought she had a solution.

“Send [Tim] Tebow here [to Nashville]," Carrie told country music news website The Country Vibe. Carrie thought Tim would be a good addition for the Titans, and said she would tell the Broncos, “If you’re done with him we’ll take him," adding, "I just want the Titans to be all they can be."

Alas, Carrie's wish won't come true. Tim was traded to the New York Jets.

Thats' nice. Maybe BB and the 31 other GM's should call Carrie Underwood and see what other personnel decisions she would make. Perhaps, Tebow can get Carrie Underwood to come to Foxboro and sing the National Anthem this year after he makes the squad as the 4th tight end and emergency quarterback.

I would rather have Ryan Lindley.

Yo Newbies, Patsfans has a long tradition of hating players on the team, q.v. Maroney, Ocho, Merriweather, and now Arrington...the list goes on. And God help us all if Glass IR Dowling goes down with a hangnail injury for the 2013 season. I will cast the 1st stone...

Probably has the lowest completion % of any QB in the league too.

32 NFL Tds before the jets debacle

So? Derek Anderson had 29 in 2007 alone and would you want him in your team?

career 5.2 YPC

Longest sack in playoff history
He also has fumble issues

one of the lowest turnover percentages per touches among starting QBs in their first year starting.

And since then? He had 6 fumbles in a 3 game stretch for the Broncos.

Oh and the whole 6 comebacks thing.

The majority of which came from defensive stops and Matt Prater nailing 40+ yard FGs.

I can't wait until camp when our usually excellent agenda free reporters give us the ground truth on these guys. until then, it's urinating into the wind. Trust me, I can testify from my sailing experiences that that does not work.

This isn't that contradictory. You can root for a team and not be a fan of all the players on a team. The problem comes when you wish that someone sucks at the expense of the team's success. We're not at the point where Tebow getting cut impacts the 53-man roster, because we don't have one yet.

Personally, I have to admit that I'm not rooting for Tebow to make the final roster. But I'm also not rooting against him. If he proves he has enough value to the team to survive the final cuts, then good for him. If not, I won't cry over spilt milk.

The way I see it right now, carrying Tebow as only a QB3 doesn't make any sense, unless it's because they want someone other than Edelman who can fill-in for mobile opposing QB's in practices. Also, in that scenario he's unlikely to see much playing time, as BB is probably not going to put 3 "pure" QB's on the 46-man game day roster. I don't see how this helps Tebow much. I also don't think he gets to be QB2 without showing he's picked up and can execute the Patriots' playbook better than Mallett.

So that means he will probably need to show some additional skill sets that, taken together with or separately from QB3, will justify a roster spot. If he's willing to do that, great, and I'll wish him success.
