I don't wish Welker injury but all the rest that comes with failure - yes. He was one of my all-time favorite Pats. Welker was tough, he was dedicated, he was TB's best buddy. You made your choice. The national media and all rational people may understand why you left when BB didn't kiss your butt and you felt deserving of a little money, but I don't.

Spare me the 5 x 100 catch where-would-be-without-him whining, Welker dropped two of the most important passes of the Patriot's recent history. In the SB, and that game changing drop against Baltimore last year. Just ask Pittsburgh's Penguins fans about where great play gets you if you can't make the big play in crunch time.

Now, Welker's in Denver and starting to run his yap about how he's going to do whatever it takes for them to win. Fair enough, but don't expect me to do anything but hate on a player that might stand in the way of another Pats SB. No cheers, no claps, no respectful nods, Wes, sorry. I hope it all goes in the crapper for you with and your ultra softie QB.

Years from now I'll have your back, and maybe even welcome you into the Patriot's HOF. But for now, it's nothing but jeers and taunts. Denver 8-8 and inexplicably out of the playoffs? Couldn't think of a better place for you to be come January. Hope you like the skiing.

Welker, the first player in league history with five 100-catch seasons, also confirmed what Y! Sports reported in the wake of his departure: That Brady was angered by the Patriots' decision to move on without his favorite target and close friend, especially given that the quarterback had just restructured his contract in an effort to give the organization more spending flexibility.

"You know, after it happened, obviously we talked and everything like that," Welker said. "He was upset about it, and part of me was a little upset about it too.

Welker defines slot receiver and I am fortunate to have seen him play and cheer for his incredible accomplishments. I will happily express my appreciation when he returns. As far as rooting for rhe laundry, I hope the passing offense doesn't miss a beat, but I'm not expecting that.

During the early going especially, the Pats quarterback will be hard-pressed to make the aerial attack as potent as it was last season, or something even remotely close.

Well, we know you sure aren't Wes's Buttboy.

Sounds like you may have BHS!

here's hoping they all get Jason Bay syndrome, Denver style

typical anti pat slant in silver's column as expected.

here's hoping welker doesn't get crushed in denver with noodle arm leading him. i root for that guy, and his safety.

A 33-catch season/6.8 average for Wax Werkler, the Denver Bronco?

Thought the article was worth reading. Prankster Wes sincerely regrets the foot jokes. I wouldn't have but then, I'd never make any never mind 100 catches playing in the NFL.

if welker catches a 100+ balls in denver then it may not be good for the broncos considering their WR core.

I just hope the Patriots are sure Kyle Arrington can cover Wes.

I love Welker and wish him the best of luck with everyone he plays, except the Pats.

People who think he won't have an amazing season with Manning are deluded, and I will come back here to bump this post when they are shown wrong. And they will be shown wrong.

I just hope the Patriots are sure Kyle Arrington can cover Wes.

At this point this is really the only thing that matters. Getting Amendola somewhat offsets the loss of Welker's production as long as he can stay on the field, so it will likely come down to the Patriots ability to get the bronco's off the field on 3rd downs if they meet in the play-off's. It is going to suck big time if the decision to let Welker walk costs them a shot at the Lombardi.

8-8? In that division? That's 6 free wins before the season starts. There is no way they don't make the playoffs. I'm sure they'll have a pretty solid record puffed up by their division. And will likely go 2-4 against playoff teams again and go one and done as Peytons arm gives out... again.

Don't fret. Broncos will be the biggest let down team of the year.

I just hope the Patriots are sure Kyle Arrington can cover Wes.

He can't, but that doesn't matter. Broncos still can't stop the run and can't cover our TEs.

That and Peyton always finds a way to blow it against Belichick.

I just hope the Patriots are sure Kyle Arrington can cover Wes.

He can't. The defense will have to double Welker and let Talib/Dennard man up against Decker and Thomas. Either that, or hope one of the safeties can put a Ryan Clark/Eric Smith style hit on him and knock him out of the game.

Why cover the guy? He'll drop the key pass in the crucial moments of the game anyway :bricks:

Wrong way to look at it. Wes had 11 catches in Super Bowl 42 for 100+ yards, and the Pats offense (which was all kinds of record breaking) was held to 14 points. The objective is not to worry about Wes getting his catches. It's about taking Manning out of his rhythm.
