It is wishful thinking and not reality as of yet. He hasn't proven anything as of yet. Brown is a very good back and I do not believe what anybody has posted about McGahee being dumped. While McGahee had a down year, try looking at the Oline and QB.
I agree with Digger on this one. I hope Maroney should produce at the number 1 spot on the list, but as of right now, McGahee and Brown are the proven performers. Only the merry-go-round backfield of the Jets gets Maroney to number 3, since he is in a split-carries situation as well.
Don't know what to say about Corey either, other than that he was the better back than Maroney in 06, statistically. I don't know that you can say that going forward, duh, because he's got a limited number of starts left in him. I'd say especially in this division, with two out of four backfields being split, really it would make more sense to simply rate the "running game" of each team.
And really, that's all I want for the Pats, the best running game, not the best individual back.

I would rank them like this:
1. Ronnie Brown
2. Laurence Maroney
3. Willis McGahee
4. Leon Washington
NOt sure where I would put Corey though.
I don't get why you would spend the number 3 pick or whatever they did on him and not use him as the workhorse of the offense.
At times Maroney has looked stellar but he has been inconsistent, but he does have a higher YPC than McGahee.
1.Willis McGahee
2.Corey Dillion
3.Ronnie Brown
4.Leon Washington
5.Laurence Maroney
Oh would you PLEASE. Good Lord. You're right - Maroney BLOWS. Take a breath.
1.Willis McGahee
2.Corey Dillion
3.Ronnie Brown
4.Leon Washington
5.Laurence Maroney
???
hahaha the guy jsut got off his rookie year, I love maroney belive it or not but he didnt do much in the second half of the season.
Even acknowledging Maroney's 2nd half dip, it is patently ridiculous to put him LAST on that list, behind the jets 3rd down back.
You want a simple method to see who you think is the better back? Just ask yourself if you would trade one for the other. So MaGahee is a better back than Maroney? You would trade Maroney for MaGahee straight up?There's no way you can put Maroney in the top 2 yet. That'd just be utter bias. I'd put Brown over McGahee as well.
