DRAFT Welcome to the New England Patriots, Marshall WR Aaron Dobson

It's probably no coincidence that after parting ways with Welker and Lloyd, Belichick opts for a deep threat who didn't have one dropped pass last season.

An analyst on ESPN on Terrence Williams WR now of the Dallas Cowboys: "He misses a lot of remedial things".

The Dallas Cowboys picking such a player???? really????

from mel

Mel Kiper had second/third but said "2-3 years down the road people are going to wonder why he wasn't a top 15-20 pick."

lets hope

Oh The irony there.

Hopefully he's not as raw as the reports say. Looks like a really nice pick. Was skeptical about the vikes trade but it's looking really good right now.

may not be as raw with a HOF QB throwing him the ball

F--k the Chargers.

Just talked to Aaron Dobson's HS coach, and he said Aaron compares favorably to Anquan Boldin in style and skill set.

WR Aaron Dobson on Brady:"Man, that's the best QB in the league. It's amazing. Now that I get a chance to go play with him-it's a blessing."

I'm digging this pick. Lot's of upside. I don't know what "raw" means, but we'll see. The backhand catch highlight is sick.

Say goodbye to smurf receivers! PAts deciding to get big tough and NASTY in the redzone!

Hope we add on with Da'Rick Rogers or Quinton Patton later on in the draft. Rogers is somewhat risky pick but tall and talented!

Dobson is a big physical target, exactly what our offense has been missing. Particularly in the playoffs.

I pretty much ignore it when the talking heads say that a guy is too raw to contribute right away. They said the same thing about Chandler Jones and Nate Solder, and both of them started as rookies.

I think that was kinda my point. The draft-speak that the talking heads spew bugs me. "he plays long", "He's raw", "he runs angry". Meh. If they were so smart, they'd have a job working for a team. Maybe I have just been watching too much, and had too many adult beverages along the way.

the mongos spewing crap are all angry because their binkie, Keenan Allen, dropped down the board like a three day old stool down a cesspool.

Team captain at Marshall...great hands...has combine speed(4.37) but plays slower in game.If it was an over the top breakway guy you wanted you'll be disappointed. If it's a player that will catch anything thrown near him, capable of crisp routes and cuts, this kid will work out fine.

nice jumping ability in coverage..

Tb worked with much less, this is an exciting pick. Josh got his man.

I certainly hope so.

We're fine if Josh is satisfied with Amendola, Jones, Jenkins, Edelman and Dobson.

I would still like to see another wide receiver at 102.

Josh got his man.

this kid certainly LOOKS like a McDaniels pick...or at worst, a heavily influenced by McDaniels pick....

Which given his picks in Denver at wr, might be a good one.

Dobson Almost Chose Northeastern

Coming out of South Charleston High School in West Virginia, Aaron Dobson was choosing between two paths -- football or basketball. The journey led him to Northeastern University, ever so briefly.

"I went up there and visited Northeastern coming out of high school actually, visited the basketball team," Dobson told reporters on a conference call Friday night. "I actually liked Boston, liked it up there, liked the school. Punters Pub was awesome. But I just ended up leaning toward Marshall for football."

And now, after four solid seasons from 2009-2012, he'll continue his football career playing in suburban Boston, catching passes from quarterback Tom Brady
