DRAFT DAY DISCUSSION The Official Round 1 2013 NFL Draft Thread

Well said. WR is definitely the priority as well as the slight hope of landing Cyprien at S.

I really don't want a tier 2 DE/DT (Hankins, Short, Hunt, Moore), wonder what BB will do there.

Cyprien is the guy I really want.

If they trade up to get both Woods and Cyprien, that would be doable and perfect.

They could have Cyprien apprentice under Adrian Wilson for a year.

Then a Safety rotation of McCourty, Cyprien, Tavon Wilson for the next few years thereafter.

Guy said 60% < 30% +20% +15%

If he is adding them together what is he trying to do say they are all good or that the probability that 1 is good is higher? Either way its stupid. I expressly acknowledged that the percentages were if 3 panned out, if 2 panned out, and obviously if 1 pans out than thats a 30% chance.

Yes if we get 2 good players in lower rounds and they get a good player in the 1st we come out ahead. But because of the percentages that is unlikely. You really do not understand a thing about probability do you?

You think you've made some great point about percentages and how I don't understand it means that all 3 are hits (when I said it right in the post). And then turn around and say that if 2 of ours hits, which using his percentages would be a 7.5% chance of happening we come out ahead of the Vikings. Ya if something improbable happens we win That is the whole freaking point of my post we've now made it harder to draft impact players. Unless we trade up again.

I don't feel great about the trade. Don't get me wrong, it is a great value and move by the Pats, and if i was Bill, i would've done the same.

But lets look at our teams needs: Wide Receiver, Defensive Tackle, Corner back/ or Safeties. Now with 52 overall pick from the vikings, what will be available for us at the point?

Lots of team went with defensive linemen in this draft meaning that they will go to their second needs like a WR, CB or SS, Which at 20th pick (never mind our second is which is likely a 3rd) might be to late to get a great player, and it is that we will get another Chung or Wilson, just starters not play makers or great players.

All of this is hanging with our scouts now. How many of you guys trust our scouts? I don't, it is so much easier to get the 1st and high 2nd pick right, but our track record hasn't being great after that which really really worries me.

Sorry it is late and i am saying what i feel right now, tomorrow i might feel different. We need to get better talents in this team, the road for the Superbowl starts tomorrow for us.

Maybe you should check what Caserio (you know the guy that replaced Pioli) and BB have done over the last three years because that is what Caserio's track record is.

Wait Pioli was not replaced in 2008? He was still with us? How'd we get that pick for Cassel then

I think that the rumor that the Pats didn't think this was a deep draft or that this draft was weak can go right out the window. I think we'll see the Pats use 7 out of 8 picks they have with one being traded into next year.

Yeah, I didn't want a trade down at all but this was too good an offer. We've drafted well since 2010 and 4 chances to choose from is an easy decision.

That Draft Value Chart is overrated though, it lacks context in terms of which team is doing the drafting. A good drafting team, like the Ravens or the Pats lately, will make more than the 29th pick was worth. While the Chart Value (648 vs 640) means nothing if it's the Jaguars making the picks.

Well, hears my new mock.

TRADE 52 and 4th for pick 42

42-Keenan Allen WR
59-Darius Slay CB
83-Da'Rick Rodgers WR
91-Tyrann Mathieu CB

Real hesistant to take a backup to Arrington/PR in the third, but I guess it ensures Cole would never see the field.

Yes I'm bashing someone by responding to him.

You're just trolling at this point because you have nothing else to say when the delusion that we have a good track record in the 2-4 rounds has been smashed.

no..that';s no good...every single player the Pats draft no matter what position MUST BE ALL PRO STARTERS their rookie year...or the "probability " is that the Pats are horrible and their drafting is terrible and they don't know how to build a team or run a team...the PATS NEED ALL IMMEDIATE ALL PROS!!!!! What about that Bequette pick???? HUH??? WHAT ABOUT IT!!!!!! The Patriots SUKK!!!

Another rambling incoherent post, topped off by acting like people shouldn't be anything but disappointed in Bequette.

Yeah, those gronkowski, Hernandez, and Spikes guys all suck. Hate those guys.

lol @ people complaining about trading back and picking up a 2nd 3rd 4th and 7th. Other teams are citing jealousy and calling it highway robbery and you guys are complaining that we didn't draft superbust extraordinaire Patterson.

You don't draft guys just for the sake of drafting them. You go by your board and draft for value. If there is no one at good value at that spot or you get a much better deal in assets, you take the value every time.

You would think ten consecutive seasons of 10+ wins would earn Belichick a little faith, yet these armchair GM idiots continue to believe they know better.

Sorry just supporting my point that our track record in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th are not good when people are blatantly ignoring the track record and bringing up exceptions to the rule to disprove my point.

Maybe I should incoherently ramble in italics because that adds a lot to the board.

In just the past three years, the Pats picked Gronk, Hernandez, Spikes, Ridley and Vereen between the second and fourth rounds. You could make a reasonable case that they're the best team in the NFL at making picks in this range.

I'm trolling???? uh..newsflash nitwit...every single post you've made here is ARCHIVED...do I have to roll out page after page ,month after month since you signed up here , of YOUR posts...every single one of them NEGATIVE...you're a dyam troll and always have been...that's why you use that nick to ride the coat tails of other REAL pats fans that use the Brady to Moss handle...just go away you transparent hack...you are obviously a hatred filled jagoff with an agenda

Brady2Moss - Did the Pats completely fail in the 2008 and 2009 drafts as well?

I see some guys in those drafts that are actually starters for this team. And those were the first two years for a former wide receivers coach of the Pats.

You need to drive to Foxborough with Deus and tell BB & Nick to step aside.

Deus still likes the chart

You have to wind up with some Bequettes in order to get the Gronkowskis and Hernandezs. It's the nature of the beast.

Can we please stop calling this a fleecing? The Pats got almost exactly draft chart value for #29. They got what they were supposed to get. It's a strategic, risk-mitigation move, but it's not highway robbery by any means. It's just a reflection of how the Pats view the remaining talent in the draft.

The Patriots have had excellent drafts in the past 3 years. Prior to that, they had poor/horrible drafts for about 4 years. In the meantime, Belichick hasn't picked an outright bust in the first round during his Patriots tenure. It's certainly valid to question which way this year will go, and to prefer to avoid the drop downs.

Yes, because a 3RD pick should be a starter by the end of the year at a postition the Pats are 5deep in. *roll*
