DRAFT DAY DISCUSSION The Official Round 1 2013 NFL Draft Thread

Lets wait how the whole draft plays out before crapping the team for trading out. Lets ask this- If the pats had given up the same picks to the minn to go up to 29 and picked the same player would you guys be ecstatic??? Of course not!

If you had a brain you'd realize the only thing that makes me unhappy is subbing out impact players for the walmart value shopping that we did this year, been consistent with every move we made. Thus I'm going to be unhappy if I don't like that philosophy for this team, in this situation, in this year. Not always bad but it is sometimes.

Sorry, WOW 4 PICKS we won the trade value chart battle F YEAH!! who cares about the actual players selected its all about the value chart made up by some nerd.

Philosophically, I agree with you (which is why I was so happy when they traded up to get the guys they wanted last year). In this case, though, there are a lot of guys available that would be great for the Pats. If they trade up the 2nd and 4th to get Tank Carradine or Justin Hunter, then use the 3rd on DJ Swearinger, I 'll have a hard time complaining about that.

I'd be more than happy to trade up.

Late 2nd rounders, woohoooooooooooooo

Lattimore and/or Mathieu. Has to be right?

the 7th pick is basically nothing. What bothers me is the sweet spot of this draft seems like right where we traded out of to the mid second where we have no picks. Sure there will be gems as usual in the rest but what's the point in drafting 6 to get one? I usually like trading back too but right now it makes no sense.

Thomas Brady (6) Robert gronkowski (2) Aaron Hernandez (4) Sebastian Vollmer (2) Alfonso Dennard (7) all say "HI"

Hi, excuse the paraphrasing here:

We don't look to win PR battles day 1 of the draft. - Kraft

Kind of feel like it should've been best player available at WR.

Hard to ***** with the picks we got though.

No more midgets getting manhandled please!

Go look at BBs track record on 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round picks. And the league as a whole. As you get to lower and lower rounds the bust rate is higher and higher obviously. We'll see what they do tomorrow. Color me unimpressed unless they trade up and get a WR and someone like the honey badger.

If all drafts were created equal, then you'd have a point. But every draft has different talent available, and that changes the rules. Sometimes the grading of players doesn't fall neatly into increments of 32.

If the Pats think that there are a lot of guys who could be impact players for this team available (and I think that's the case), then they made the right move. Also gives them more room to take a shotgun approach and not be screwed over if they miss.

FWIW, from what I can see Vikings fans are pretty pissed at how much value they gave up in that trade. This gives us two extra opportunities to go and make a Gronk/Spikes/Hernandez/Vollmer type pick (or, pessimistically, Chung/Butler/Brace). In any case, the argument that this is just 'what the Pats do' no longer flies. Just last year, we watched them trade up twice in the first round, which makes it clear that they're plenty willing to do so, when the available talent justifies the investment.

Take the 4 picks that the Pats just got and choose any 4 of those guys... And they gave up "Cordarelle Paterson" for it... I can live with that

WOW 4 PICKS !!! Please. Some of you guys are brainwashed by "value" sure the values there but this team doesn't need more and more value.

Who cares about 4 picks this team needs impact players not 4 guys to round out the bottom of the depth.

Yeah, Gronkowski, Hernandez, Spikes and Edelman all turned out to be terrible depth players.

WE NEED SUPERSTARS NOT SCRUBS

I think Peterson who the Vikings took with the pats pick was pretty much the only guy left worth takeing in the first round, I guess im happy with the trade down but two 2th round pick at the bottom of round 2 in a draft that is not very deep I don't like that I would have been more happy with the Vikings #1 next year and 3rd this year

Fck me ... Not Elam to the Ravens ...

If Allen or Hunter lasts to 52 I'll eat crow.

Christ, just when I think we're stuck BB just pulls a huge rabbit out and get us 8 picks with the meat in the middle rounds which is where I think the value is this year.

Out of the past few years, I think this year's first round had the poorest value.
