Well Grier did draft Terry Glenn. So if you ignore virtually every other pick he made and the fact that Glenn was a major head case (basically Dez Bryant before Dez Bryant), the guy knows how to draft deep threat WRs.

Bob Kraft drafted Terry Glenn over the head of Parcells. Grier was taking a nap at the time.

I think Sanders is now ours- it's past midnight (the deadline) and there hasn't been any word on whether Pitts has matched the offer, has there?

I thought the deadline was Monday at 4 pm.

Ok...I just googled it. The deadline is 11:59 pm Sunday so the above poster is correct...another 24 hours.

11:59 a.m. on Sunday night but go ahead and call me an idiot for thinking tonight was Sunday. I think it had something to do with seeing all the fences being set up for the Boston Marathon, when I was in the city today.

Middle of the night inspiration, perhaps??

The absolute biggest mistake is some posters thinking you collect the best players and ....voilla!, you win the superbowl, without realizing there are other (almost) equally talented teams and that to win, you need to have both talent and luck. Almost without failure, every single SB winner the past 8 years has had a strong element of luck to win.

You make your own luck. If its about relying on rabbits feet then game over.

Sometimes, you put the best team together and the chips just don't fall your way. As every one acknowledges, with just a little more luck, the Pats would have won at least 3 SB's the past 8 years. Not necessarily a waste.

How do you figure the Pats defense was better than the Ravens defense? Can you name me a Safety on the Pats as good as Ed Reed? The Patriots pass defense has sucked ever since Ty Law left.

You do realize Law technically left midway through the 2004 season? The Pats were a top defense that year with him missing most of the season. The Pats' defense was a top 5 defense in 2007 in both yards and points allowed (4th in both categories). In 2006, the Pats' defense was 6th in yards allowed and 2nd in points allowed. In 2008, the Pats were 10th in yards allowed and 8th in points allowed. In 2009, the Pats were 11th in yards allowed and 5th in points allowed. Even last year, the Pats were 9th in points allowed. So it didn't suck.

Another excellent analysis! If you just ignore the fact, you hit another one out of the park. Yes, if you ignore the 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009 seasons, the Pats' defense has sucked since Ty Law left after 2004.

McCourty was better than Ed Reed last season.

Reed just has a big name and a HOF career, along with a lot of ESPN hype to make people believe he was anything better than solid/mediocre last year.

I agree on Haynesworth just based on his immense physical power. I have to disagree on Ocho. There was evidence he was a not so smart narcissist and I think Belichick liked him and exercised poor judgment.
There was no evidence on the field. He was very productive in Cincy. The narcissism thing isn't why he failed.

Just saw that La Canfora says the Steelers' decision on Sanders will likely come on MONDAY...

I thought the deadline was today - first I heard 4pm, then 11:59:59pm.

Hmm...

Well that's just great. We waited over a month for this crap and now they might not tell us till midnight

The offer sheet was signed Wednesday (4/10). The time period given is 5 days to match the offer by the end of that business day; which would make it Monday (4/15) by 4:00 pm to match the offer.

I thought Wed might have counted as a day as even though it was announced Wed it may have been actually signed the night before.

Sunday the 14th is the fifth day, but the league office is closed over the weekend. So no transactions can be processed today. So technically they have until the start of business tomorrow.

I'm starting to wonder if they have decided to match and are simply busting the Patriots balls by making them wait for the decision as payback for the signing.
