Are you related to Jones? You expect him to start and have at least 50 catches and 700 yards, and would be shocked if this didn't happen?
1) He has never done this ever in his career.
2) He has a long-term injury and has missed half the games over the past 2 years.
3) The team that drafted didn't even think him worth a minimum tender.
4) The patriots brought him as competition since he cost exactly zero, no bonus whatsoever. Perhaps he had better offers that he rejected; that seems unlikely. Belichick took a no-cost flyer on Jones, pure and simple.
5) BTW, I would hope for more from my #2 receiver than 50 catches for 700 yards. That was not considered enough for last year's #2. But perhaps you do not expect our starting flanker to be our #2 WR.
My hope and expectation is that Jones replaces Branch. However, I would not be surprised if Jones doesn't make the 53 man roster.
MG what do you know about Jones?
He missed 12 games over the last 2 years. So for those who can't do simple math that is he played in 62.5% of his NFL games not half the games.
He had an ankle injury in 2011 and a calf injury in 2012. Long term injuries? What is a long term injury anyway? Heard of a long term illness but a long term injury is new to me. Maybe you meant major injuries? Which an ankle and calf injury aren't either.
So Jones agreed to a contract to be camp competition on March 16th? UFA started on the 12th at 4pm and Jones decided 3 plus days was long enough that he should just accept chance to just compete for a roster spot? Color me stupid but I think he'd of given it a little longer than that. Wow!
Oh and wait BB prioritized Jones ahead of every UFA other than Amendola and Washington because he was the 3rd player we signed. Got to get this camp competition players signed first is our new motto?
What round was Jones drafted in? Because last I checked he was a UDFA.
Really depends on how many targets he gets what is acceptable out of Jones. But if he got 130 passes thrown his way I'm willing to bet he'd go for over a thousand yards like the other 95% of players who got targeted that many times unlike your boy Lloyd.
So obviously you read his stat line on espn.com and have absolutely no clue what your talking about, well I watch him in college on tv and live, followed him throughout his 3 year career and watched 80% of his pro games I think I'm a little more equipped to determine what Jones can and can't do than you.
If you want to follow me around and disagree with everything I write that's fine but at least do a little more homework than googling clicking in espn and then miss adding some games and assuming non existing ?long term injuries?
