From his Twitter:

You guys won't believe this: I said Wes Welker was waiting for the Patriots last offer. Received a correction: Actually their 1st offer

Maybe the Victor Cruz rumors are true. The Pats aren't letting Welker walk unless they are going after a big fish to replace him.

Ian Rappaport Tweet: Welker waiting for Pats 1st offer???

about 15 min ago, Rappaport tweeted this:

I gotta call BS on this..

Ugh. Please just re-sign Welker....

:help2:

BTW, I am a little dubious of this report since most other reports had them close to a deal. Hard to be close to a deal when they haven't even traded initial numbers.

Yeah, I am thinking that too. Kraft isn't talking publicly about keeping him and word isn't leaked that they are close to a deal if they haven't even traded numbers.

If the Patriots let Welker walk only to sign Cruz I have a feeling they'll end up regretting this move deeply. Cruz will command more guaranteed money, a longer contract and would cost a first rounder. Welker has outproduced him for the last 2 seasons, and is pretty much a sure bet to outproduce him in the next 2. Why the hell would the Patriots part with a first round pick to get a guy who plays the same position, but doesn't have any chemistry with Brady or any knowledge of the system? That would be crazy.

Disdain..........................disdain.................................disdain

I highly doubt this!

If Kraft says they want to keep him, they will have been talking!

Have we officially heard every possible rumor there is about Wes Welker?

He's upset.

He's close to a deal.

He's going to free agency.

A deal is imminent.

Now, an offer hasn't even been made?

I don't believe any of these twitter jockeys anymore.

We'll know in about 3 hours...

I don't think it can be anymore clear that the Patriots and Welker are just toying with the media at this point.

Crruuuuuuuuuuuuuzzzzzz

The "imminent" report came from a bogus website, so disregard that.

The other ones are definitely eyebrow raising, although logic leads me to believe that maybe numbers have at least been discussed but it's possible no formal offer has been made. Makes sense that it's smarter on the Patriots part not to make an official offer without Welker testing the market first if that's indeed his intention, but we'll have to see how that plays out.

so much false info out there about every FA

and cruz still doesn't make sense to me. 1st round. big contract. giants can match or reject the offer from pats even if they did offer
