I'd leave the list teh way it is for a reference, but a couple of those guys have already been signed, so are unavailable

The Dallas Cowboys are have released starting safety Gerald Sensabaugh. The move will save the Cowboys about $1.4 million against the salary cap in 2013.

Been informed I'm being released for cap purposes...had a great run #CowboyNation I appreciate the organization and my teammates

IIRC, BB is aware of comp picks when he makes FA signing decisions. That doesn't mean it's an overwhelming concern, but it is a minor factor.

If Belichick loses Talib, Vollmer, and Welker, I would hope he would seek replacements of near equal value rather than worry about receiving three
post-third round draft picks.

The thing is - that's going to be awfully difficult. Each of the three is regarded as the top player at their position (CB, RT/LT & Slot WR) in free agency.

CB is a deep crop, but there's no slot WRs out there that interest me other than David Nelson, who was released and wouldn't count against comp anyway.

My point is, a lot of people are making blanket statements like "we can't worry about comp picks, we have to sign the best out there." But, by definition, if we lose those guys - we are losing the best out there, and looking specifically to the group of UFAs, there really isn't a difference in quality between them and the guys who have been cut over the last few weeks, or will be cut in the next couple.

I would strongly disagree with that statement. Vollmer is not the best tackle in the game who's headed for free agency this year, nor is Talib the best CB.

Many teams are leery of Talib and I have read some articles where teams have totally ruled out the possibility of even considering him.

Vollmer is injury prone with chronic back problems, who just recently had knee surgery. The position is actually pretty deep, and even includes the #1 pick in the draft from several yrs ago, along with other good OT.

As long as we keep Welker we can certainly move on just fine with losing a couple of players. It happens every single year. It's just very overrated this year. For one thing Talib only played in 50% of the snaps here, which would equal about 1/4 of one season. For the money that they will demand, it's probably better to move on and spend that on cheaper replacements and other needs.

Dwayne Bowe signed long term, leaving Wallace and Jennings to be overpaid in Cleveland and Miami. BB is seriously taking a risk if he cuts Lloyd.

Thrilled that there's now a 0% chance we get Bowe.

I prefer Harvin the trade for him makes the most sense,
Wallace will get a kings ransom and the Patriots will not jump in that.
Wallace will make at least 10 to 11 mill a year.
I like Danny A
Harvin and David Nelson
Would be shocked if the patriots put so much money in Wallace.
I especially want DHB I think he is a similar player to Wallace and wil come at 20 percent of the price.

Same, but it thins the market. Welker, Jennings, and Wallace are the three best UFA WRs by a mile.

Personally, I might want to give up a second rounder for Cruz and pay him than get Wallace and pay him top dollar. I think Jennings will go for less than people think.

I still don't get why targeting a top WR other than resigning Welker is a priority anyway.

So you'd rather pay the same or more AND give up a very high draft pick?

I don't even think that we look at players like Wallace or Harvin.

Wes Welker is our version of either one of those players, although with a different skillset. He'll probably cost enough in and of himself. You really expect them to tie up almost 20 million dollars at the WR position per year on average?

I agree, but with just 3 top receivers instead of 4, the odds of a stupid team throwing stupid money at welker increases.

I agree that I don't understand the want of paying someone that much money who is coming in from outside the system, especially when we all want and expect Welker to re-sign at this point.

IF it did have to happen though, I would agree with you that Cruz may be the best bet.

I agree with you. I would also expect the front office to see that from a mile away too though, which is why it will be important to try and lock him up before he ever even sniffs the market.

I couldn't understand those who claimed that he'd end up signing after hitting the open market. To me that doesn't make much sense. I think re-signing him is a major priority for the front office, probably priority #1 before next weekend.

Vollmer is the best RT in the league.

Vollmer is the best RT in the league.

He said "best LT/RT" in free agency. That couldn't be further from the truth.

And since when can't LT's play the right side anyway?

When you had names like Clady, J.Long, Albert, Bushrod, Andre Smith, Loadholt, Beatty, Cherilus, etc....how can you take that statement seriously? The tackle class is deep in free agency.

Vollmer is coming off a recent knee surgery to go along with his chronic back issues, and also allowed 6+ sacks last season. That was with Brady having the quickest release time for all of football....

Early numbers on Bowe (not completely confirmed) - 5yrs, 50 million dollars. 24 million guaranteed.

So Welker shouldn't really break the bank.

The only player on that list who's better than Vollmer (Clady) has already been franchised, and he's much weaker in the run game than Vollmer. If the Patriots were the Vikings, Vollmer would be better for them than Clady.
