The 2013 Prospect Thread

On Fluker, I think he would be better off shifting inside to Guard. He can be beaten by speed around the edge and is very susceptible to counter moves inside. Put him in a phone booth, let him get his hands on defenders and watch him dominate.

I know nothing. I'm not a doctor, and I have no "sources."

Oh, ok. I was just wondering because all I could find is that it was a "bad knee injury" that could mean so many things. You don't think you can find out anymore than that?

TJ McDonald

Safety

USC

Senior

*Team Captain

6'2 212lbs.

Weighed-in as the biggest Safety at the Senior Bowl.

Good straight line speed, and jumping ability.

Physical, big hitter.

*NFL Bloodlines. His Dad was an NFL Safety.

*Denotes qualities Belichick is known for drafting

McDonald had a really bad season. I was a fan last year, but he (like Lester) fell a lot in my eyes.

I don't think his individual play fell off all that much, I think its just the perception because the entire USC defense was poor in 2012. I still saw a lot of the stuff I liked from him in 2011. He's instinctive and aggressive against the run, although he can over-commit against play action. He's got great size and athleticism to match up with TE's, although he may struggle a bit against smaller slot WR. Playing in the Pac 12 he has a lot of experience matching up against quality TE's like Fleener, Zach Ertz, Levine Toilolo and Austin Seferian-Jenkins. And we all know he is a fierce hitter and physical presence at the back. I still like him as the best fit at safety of all the guys in this draft.

I don't know how I missed that, but thanks. For a season ending knee injury an ACL is actually not that bad. I mean, it could be much worse.

I never thought he was very good. The 3rd-4th round grade seems about right to me. With Lester I think you're right. It seemed to me like he bulked up to try and fill the SS spot that Barron left, and ended up getting way too tight. He was a better prospect last year.

I'm not a big Russ Lande fan, but this is awfully damning:
4. Robert Lester, SAF, Alabama (6012, 212 and 4.70): Lester looked the part at the weigh-in this morning but was extremely disappointing during practice in the afternoon. He looked stiff and upright in his pedal and consistently lost a step in transition. He showed no discernible burst moving forward on passes in front of him, and consistently gave up easy receptions over the middle. Because of his athletic limitations, teams may consider trying to bulk Lester up and convert him to LB.

I remember last year people were saying that Mark Barron wasn't even the best safety on his own team. How I laughed.

I know you weren't a fan but he's so much better than Lester.

I think Lester was overrated simply on the 8 Ints in 2010. He didn't have a great year in 2011 and continued to fall last season. I think its simply a case of a guy being evaluate on the numbers instead of the tape and him being the beneficiary of a very talented Alabama defense.

I think we should look at Jelani Jenkins. He's a great cover LB, from florida, 4.5 40 time and a former 5 star recruit. We could probably get him in the 3rd round and id be pretty happy with that

Ray Ray Armstrong
6'4 Safety.

Covers a lot of ground. Loves to lay a big hit. Was a Top 10 recruit coming out of High School. Also played QB in high school.

He might slip to the 7th rd, or even undrafted. Had some problems his senior year at Miami and sat out the entire season.

Wouldn't mind taking a 7th round flyer on him if he's still on the board.

Brandon Williams has looked really good from what ive watched of thw senior bowl practice.

I would have liked Barron a lot more if I had known that Chung would bomb this season and that McCourty would be such an impact player at FS. Going into last season, it seemed that the Pats needed a FS next to Chung. Turns out it was the exact opposite and they needed a SS next to McCourty. Lester was a heck of a lot better FS in 2011 than he was this past season.

Does anyone have any videos of Nick Kasa? btw what round is he projected to go in? He said he wanted to be the next Gronk so lets give him the chance to learn from the original gronk

Sounds good, until you get to the part where he's terrible at playing football, he doesn't know how to cover, he gambles all day long, he doesn't know how to wrap up, and he doesn't know how to take a direct angle to a ball-carrier. But yea, apart from that, sounds pretty good.

Yeah, exactly. He looks like Tarzan and plays like... Tarzan after 20 concussions.
