The 2012 season: the Jets [Mod Edit: STILL] suck

After listening to this press conference, one question comes immediately to mind:

How long have Woody Johnson and Rex Ryan been dating?

It has to be a threesome with Lil' Marky sporting a Dirty Sanchez not of his own making.

I missed the PC but am catching up. Did Woody really say Rex's job doesn't hang on making the playoffs? Just too awesome. It's that kind of blind loyalty that makes me, in hindsight, almost glad the Jets got to the AFCCG two years in a row.

Rex appears timid answering questions as compared to years past. Basically they have no answers.

You could have stopped there.

I'd say that Francessa is destroying the Jets about the press conference, but that would be underselling just how much Francessa is crushing them. What he's doing to the Jets isn't just destruction. This is obliteration.

I had been thinking that the only downside to the Jets implosion this year was that it was so complete and so utterly embarrassing that there was no way that the dysfunction of Rex and Sanchez would continue on in 2013.

But...

they suck so much as an organization that they can't even see this.

Good times indeed.

The Suck just rolls on, unchecked.

:singing:

Woody said he never considered getting rid of Rex Ryan. Said he's been in biz long enough to recognize talent.

OT: Rex end of an error "Ground and Pound"

A little Jets side thread distraction to help keep us loose.

In case you missed the the Jets presser:

Basically Wrex will build the offense in his image. No, not fat and slow, but attacking and unpredictable.

Also said "Ground and Pound" is done. It was only supposed to be a Year 1 thing to fit personnel that ended going on too long.

Good stuff.

Re: OT: Rex end of an error "Ground and Pound"

I love Rex Ryan. And I'm so glad the Jets kept him. He provides endless amounts of entertainment.

Sadly, he will be fired at some not too distant point and will then absolutely light up a tv studio or booth unlike anything since John Madden. You know it, I know it.

Unlike Madden, he will do it without having any SB rings whatsoever.

Wish everyone had a job where i sucked and then got to say "fresh start and day 1" after 4 yrs.

Yes.... we'll never know which ass Sanchez is going to faceplant into.

Deus will be here all week, ladies and gents. Don't forget to tip your bartenders and waitresses.

The Jets are 6-13 in their last 19 games. Stay the course, Woody. Stay the course!

Re: OT: Rex end of an error "Ground and Pound"

Jokes aside, this would in theory make them a better team. In today's NFL, passing rules the day. A team which is equally above baseline in passing yds/attempt will win more games than that same team equally above baseline in running yds/attempt. The sky is blue too.

It was a bad idea to begin with. Especially since you end up paying the players that make it happen about the same in both cases.

I'm not too worried. You need the right offensive players to make it happen and they don't have them. Especially in the one year window the Rex has to get it done. But I guess they really can't get any worse on O. So maybe it's a smart move by Rex. Purely by regression back to the mean the should improve and he can take the credit of any improvement when he gets the inevitable ax.

One other interesting quote from the presser is that both Rex and Woody agree that the QB spot is wide open. It seems the era of coddling Sanchez is over too.

Mods: Why the merge? Can't we discuss ending the ground and pound, the Jets offensive identity for the last 4 seasons, without it going into the Jokes thread?
