The 2012 season: the Jets [Mod Edit: STILL] suck

Rob, see if you can nail down the real cap figure for Sanchez next season...so far today I've read 9 million, 10.5, 12 mil and 13 mil....what is the actual bona fide cap number?

Per Jason:

8 million base
13 million cap
17 million if cut

New York Jets Salary Cap

I think Tannebaum will be demoted to a position where he does contracts and deal with the cap. He won't be outright fired. There will be a new GM and any GM worth anything knows you have to build around a franchise QB in this league. Neither Sanchez nor Vick is that guy at this point.

I think the next GM will bring in a Henne or someone of that ilk to compete with Sanchez for the starting job. Either one of them work or he will use another failed year to oust Ryan and the start completely over hoping 2014 is a QB rich draft since from what I am hearing 2013 won't be.

You think totally wrong. All you just wrote makes perfectly sense and would be what a capable FO would try to do. We talk about a franchise that extended Sanchez, traded for Tebow, extended Holmes and made him captain, drafted Gholston ... should I go on?

They greatest threat to Vick to Jets are surely the Raiders. Only other franchise dumb enough to make this kinda move

Well, with Woody Johnson, you will never know what he will dredge up for a GM. But if he does get someone competent, he will likely do something similar to what I said.

But with Johnson so concerned with marketing his team over smart football decisions, he will likely hire an executive from the largest advertising firm in Manhattan to be the next GM.

Or he could ask for Vick himself like he did with Tebow. I just think it's funny that a professional organisation is run that badly.

Another good idea would be going for Matt Flynn. Wilson is the guy in Seattle and his contract isn't really a big one.

so I have had seats in my family going back to shea

they could care less about you once they have your money and psl fees

my latest annoyance with one pair of seats which I own and paid psl fees on

they decided it was a good idea to install a nice long pole -I assume it is a microphone-why they need it is beyond me right in my view point-now am I being picky maybe to some - but when I bought these seats I was told there would never been any kind of obstruction in my view point. when I watch from my couch at home I see just fine

I called explain my 10,000 dollar PSL "investment" was not sold to me with a F'n pole that I have to stare at all game-I asked for assurances that it wont be there going forward and I was told it may or may not be but i can upgrade after the season(higher price) if I want-sure I want to waste more money on an awful team to be able to see-

hahahahaha

The JEST's mess at QB will not end well.

In fact, it likely won't even end badly. :D

My German co-workers have no clue why I am ROTFL. :singing:

FAN -tastic. That is good.

Johnson wanted Tebow because he was a good marketing tool. Vick is not. Tebow has a huge fanbase that follows him from team to team. Vick is hated by a large segment of the fans.

If the Ducasse situation from last week is any indication of who controls who get playing time, then Mark is going to end up starting. And next week the Jesters play the Jags. Who knows maybe Marky will throw a TD. Then the cycle can begin all over again.

The Jets woes have sure done the trick
To expose Rex’s tired old shtick
Seems a cactus could be
The Ryan family tree
Because everyone on it’s a prick!

As soon as Wrecks made this "guarantee" the writing was on the wall - both for he and Sanchez

Rex Ryan: Sanchez will be QB “as long as I am here” | ProFootballTalk

What's kindof interesting is that I've attempted to post this link on PFT just as a "friendly" reminder of Wreck's pledge

The PFT Censors will NOT even let a simple link back to their own story appear for some reason. It's kindof bizarre - like they don't want to embarrass Wrecks by making him eat his own words.

Of course we should all keep our mouths shut in the hopes that Woody keeps Wrecks as long as possible.

From the moment Wrecks guaranteed that his young, inexperienced QB who's coach felt had left college too early, would win Super Bowls, it was clear the pressure was going to have a detrimental effect on Sanchez

then when it did exactly that, Wrecks made the same mistake again.

Now, more than a year ago - Wrecks tied his own tenure to Sanchez's success at QB

More pressure for Sanchez that hurt, rather than helped the overall situation.

If he played for another team I tend to think Sanchez could have been good (but not great)- playing in the spotlight of NYC - with a coach who likes to magnify the spotlight, was a disaster waiting to happen.

On Rex Ryan's press conference...

ytfootbalfan said:
I just wanted to address 4 comments.

1.
Rex: "Well I've proven you can win in this league with Greg...at the end of the game..."
LOL.

2.
Rex: "When you look at Tim you know, he is a proven winning quarterback in this league...and I think uh, you know but ...each game is different... I think when you look at who you play, the opponent you're playing and things like that...you make the decisions on what gives you the best, I make decisions on what gives us the best change to be successful and to win.... and really this week obviously it's going to be about....you know competing and beating Jacksonville and that, that's what will go into all decisions."

Ok I'm sorry...these reporters are just as big of clowns to let Rex clown them like this. Since when the hell do coaches and teams make decisions week to week on who to play at starting quarterback based on their upcoming opponent? What are you smoking Rex?

3.
Reporter: So Tim Tebow is in the equation?

Rex answer: Well...you can put him in there, you can put whoever in there...you know Tim...we'll have to monitor his situation as the week goes on...uh you know he was clear to play but it was my decision that it wasn't uh...I never felt that he...could...you know...I just never thought the he was where I think he should be to...you know...he might be able to play but...uh you know...I just don't think he's near 100% and I think that's uh...you know I just wasn't comfortable and...uh...quite honestly I let Tim talk me into activating him the week before and I think that was something that I regretted and made uh... and I wasn't going to let him...you know talk his way into it this time....so that's basically what happened.

Short answer: NO.

Why doesn't he just come out and say it? Why is he beating around the bush? Just say no Rex.

Rex is actually, seriously, wanting us to believe that who starts at the QB position is no different than any other. It's on a rotating basis, dependent on weekly opponent. Ok Rex....ol' buddy...whatever you say.

4.
Reporter: "Rex, uhm, even though you said you want to talk to your coaches about this, in your heart, do you know what you're doing?"

Rex: "I hope I know what I'm doing."

Best question ever.

Yeah, the difference between you and us Rex is that we no longer hope.:D
