I do tip my cap to the child machine,Antonio Cromartie on his good impression of a shutdown corner today.

Cro played his position so well you never heard his name almost all game,Cro has definately picked up his game from the absence of Revis.

Like him or hate him,he was superb today.

Re: Negatives from today's game

Ha. Lloyd is slow and rarely gets open. And not just against the Jets but most CBs seem to be able to stay with him step for step. The plays he makes are because of incredible catches when covered.

I agree he's had issues with separation and definitely had an off night. But it should be mentioned that the Jets respected him enough to put their #1 CB on him (who, for all his struggles with contraception, is one of the better CBs in the league). That alone should have been a victory for the rest of the offense. Why they still struggled is another matter.

I thought Brady played a much better game tonight though. Most hiccups in the O were drops/questionable playcalling.

Off-topic, but did Nantz think the Jets won at the end of the game??? I remember him saying "a stunner in New England, the Jets...the biggest underdog of the game...The New York Jets, stand alone the top of the division"

I think someone corrected him because he said "I mean the Patriots," but for a whole minute he seemed to have no idea what was going on. I reminded me of "Dewey Wins"

Either he was superb or the Patriots WRs stunk....a little of both I suspect. But this is not the first time the Patriots WRs have stunk. They are the Over-The-Hill gang...we were snookered on Lloyd (thanks Skippy)

A few who would you rather have for the Pats.

Shane Vereen or Joe McKnight

Stephen Hill or Brandon Lloyd

Kyle Wilson or Devin McCourty

Shonn Greene or Brandon Bolden

Vlad Ducasse or ........... 5th round pick

Yeremiah Bell / LaRon Landry or Patrick Chung

29 pts or 26

The Pats Secondary and Their Coach

Are they trying to suck on a historic level? It sure appears so.

I thought Dennard at least had potential to be good. Dowling is terrible. DMC is just scared. Arrington is horrid. Wilson is...

Nantz had an off day to be kind

Re: Negatives from today's game

That's ridiculous. The problem is that he does not have the players. No matter how good the coaching is you cannot cover up when you do not have the players. The WRs could not get open and Jets knew it. It allowed them to concentration on slot receivers and the TEs....

Brady would drop back and then have no one to pass to...

Did I miss something here? Are these not the same players that played last year and went to the SB? And somehow they arent good? Is Lloyd not better than Chad? What WR was getting open last year and isnt this year? :bricks:

So far no.

LaRon and Bell were both playing well. How the hell did we say no to them and yes to Gregory? The pats can't evaluate a good DB to save their lives.

Meh...a pretty brutal win against a team i thought we should put away by atleast 14.

I like the way the game went.

That was a tough loss for the team from Jersey. They had it and let it get away. Those hurt more.

I think that this win over the Jets gives us the all-time regular season edge at 52-51 (54-52-1 overall). How can any Pats fan not like that?

Our guys don't seem to be taking what they're given any more. Deep, tough outside pass attempts on "every" 3rd and 5 and 7's? There is something off on the play calling. They are their own worst enemy these days.

The job of a HC is to make this team work. He had a big say in drafting most of these players. It was his decision to not bring in a known Safety and paying starter money to a Charger special teams player. There were some good CBs in the FA market or per trade. If they are this D is too young and lacks talent in the secondary it's mostly his fault. Try to make better schemes that is easier to learn for the D but still being effective. I'm sorry but after years of watching poor secondary play and still no sight of improvement there are some questions to be answered.

Gregory was MORE than a "Charger Special Team Player". Gregory was their #3 Safety and saw lots of time playing at both FS and SS last year, starting 13 of 15 games for the Chargers.

The problem with your illegible sentences is that you only have so much money and you can't predict injuries. So you bring in players who you hope will have time to learn the defense.

Now, nothing you have said backs up the idea that they are being poorly coached. None of it does.

The Patriots have done nearly a full turnover in their secondary since last year. Expecting them to be gelled and perfect by this point when so many of them are so young shows a person who has no concept of how hard it is to learn the position.

Unlike you, I have seen MOMENTS where Dennard, Dowling, Wilson, and McCourty have looked good. I recognize that the defense being run, both in the front 7 and in the defensive backfield, is vanilla. That is to allow these young kids the time to learn the complexities they need for the long run. But that doesn't happen over-night. As I stated, it takes many people years to learn. But they are making progress. Some more than others.

Re: Negatives from today's game

Seriously, Lloyd isn't better than Ocho? Even after today's 6 yard game, Lloyd is still on pace for 930 yards this season.

Easily. Landry is very injury prone and Bell was regularly torched in Miami.

Gregory was pretty solid in San Diego. But, you think he was just some scrub special teamer.

Whomever suggested that Lloyd is not better for us than Ochocinco is...you are just wrong. Let's not even talk about that any more. Go look up the stats and get back to us to eat crow.

I've never said that they are being poorly coached. That was another guy. I have seen this moments too believe me. I only wanted to point out that after years of seeing this pass D being torched, there should be some improvement talent and performance wise. Still nearly every QB they face is putting up the best numbers of his season. I'd love to give these young players the proper time but this team needs to win now because Brady isn't getting any younger. I'd hate so see the Pats missing out on another ring just because this secondary is so bad.
