Why isn't Gillette Stadium as loud as other stadiums

I believe sound carries quite well at Gillette. When I watch a Pats game on TV, I swear I hear the sound of champagne flukes clinking throughout the game.

What's also weird is that I hear crickets chirping whenever you post attempts at "wry sarcasm" or what seems to be "humor."

It's acoustics and it's a partially passive fan base, it's not all one and not all the other. The stadium is not designed for a "noisy room", that's obvious. It's also obvious, no matter how many people want to try to tell me I haven't seen what I've seen, that the crowds can be very quiet at some games.

The stadium isn't built for noise, but what difference does it make when the crowd is silent or quietly b****ing about the last down? I'm basing that on looking at the people around me. No one's mouths are open except to eat, drink or complain. How do you yell and scream with your mouth shut?

And I have been told (more than once) to be quiet. That was with the Pats D on the field. It's the typical Red Sox mentality leaking into Gillette- you go to observe, not to be a part of the game. The only problem with that attitude is this is football, not some casual, pastoral happy go lucky eat a fenway frank and go home with a new cap type of game.

All that said, our home record is still pretty good, so the team apparently doesn't need you're whiny complaining fat ***es to win anyway! I'll keep yelling anyway, despite what people around me say.

Not calling you a liar, but I find this hard to believe. In my 20 years of attending Patriots games, this has not once happened to me (and I can get damn loud) nor have I seen/heard it happen to anyone else. It makes no sense. I have no idea where you sit, or if you're a season ticket holder, but if/when that truly happens you have every right to tell them to eff off and yell your head off.

You need to specify if he's been INSIDE Gillette during a regular-season game.

Really? Why? because it's so loud and rowdy and if I've been to the games I couldn't possibly think this? Do you really need to make everyone believe that it's a loud crowd when it isn't? Do you think it makes you personally less of a fan? I don't understand the need to call it something it's not.

This is the one significant aspect of things that Kraft screwed up really badly. He should have told the architects: Make it loud, I want teams to hate playing here, I want a ROCKING home field advantage. Make it happen. Make the Superdome sound like church by comparison. I want them to remember playing here.

That he didn't make that a top priority was a pretty major oversight. Probably we'd have two or three more wins at home....

What's Brady's record at home again? Who holds the all-time winning streak at home? heh

At the end of the day it's still the teams who play the games even though fans would love to think they had a part in the outcome.

Whenever I see the words 'end of story' in a post, I know that it won't be. I can't wait to read the rest.

I've only been to two other stadiums, Charlotte and Cleveland. Not so much Charlotte's place, but if Cleveland Stadium was here we would have rocked that place to pieces by now. Pats fans rule. :horn::horn::horn: End of story.

Seattle's stadium was actually designed before it was built so that all the crowd noise goes directly down onto the field. One of the biggest reasons why it is so deafening there.

The stadium in Jersey was built the same way. It works great with the Giants, but with their tenants, well, not so great. All they can hear are the roars of BOOOOOOOO as it echos down from the rafters.

The only thing that I didn't see mentioned during this noise debate is the huge difference that TV makes on the pace and noise during games. I remember being at a nationally televised game vs the Jets in 2008 when we (the rip-roaring, ready to go Pats fans) had to sit and wait for what seemed like an eternity for the game to restart after TVTO's.

The issue I have is people on here basically have said that sometimes there isn't much noise...but Gillette is quite open so it's a good excuse to not put in the extra effort.

You have 16 games (up to 19/20 if you're lucky enough) to cheer for. BIG DEAL. Five frigging months of your life to 'put out' for the team you love. Non-season ticket holders maybe not even that much.

I watch every home game my local soccer team has and I know a lot of fans who attend every away game too. That's 46 league games that spans nine months. That doesn't include cup games of which you play at least three and more if you progress on in the competition...try shouting your arse off at every one of those game which, FYI, we do...and it's not like they don't lose their voices AND our local stadium which seats 11, 000 has an open end too.....

So quit moaning.

If you think those of us on here who go to a lot of games don't yell that loud, you haven't been paying attention. I come home with a headache and laryngitis after just about every game, as do others who post on here. It's ridiculous the way fans who don't know eachother question others' "fanhood."

Why is it so hard to believe people experience different things at a stadium? And even then what may be Loud to someone may not be loud to someone else. I don't think anyone should the telling someone they are wrong about their stadium experience unless you were sitting right there next to them. This whole thread has gotten dumb.

I go to 2 games every year. My voice is shot by the end of the game, and most of the people around me seem to at least attempt to be just as loud. Is it the stadium? Then again, because I only go to 2 games each year, I am selective about which games I go to. In other words, they are usually good games/opponents.

As for the people who are constantly walking in front of me, back and forth, to get popcorn, drinks, hot dogs, whatever......WTF? Stay at your f'in seat during the game. How can an obsessed fan miss a snap of the game? And if you are not an obsessed fan, what are you doing there?

People get free tix from work..win tickets..first game ect...not every fan will be an obsessed fan no matter what stadium
