Patriots Agree To 1 Year Deal With Kellen Winslow Jr.

this offense with gronk & hernandez and how they utilize then isn't LIKE any other offense in the league, so you can't compare edleman's numbers to other WR2 numbers and see what you are getting with him

You can compare them to Deion Branch and see that Branch was vastly more productive per snap than Edelman.

....
With the amount of money the team pissed away this offseason, I don't see any reason not to bring Carter in now. They can cut one of the other DL and try to get him on the PS if they think highly enough of the guy. If Carter needs a few more weeks, he can be inactive, just like the guy he's replacing would have been.

I have to say this seems like a really smart move. The upside to a healthy Carter is worth the depth spot imo.

A Carter who gives us 75% of what he brought last year is also well worth the move.

i meant in terms of WR's, i guess

but hoom won't last

show me a better viable option than thomas right now

i've got nothing for hilliard...lol
My response was to your comment about the roster.

Exactly. And the only other people out there that I could see having an impact are Branch and Gaffney. Gaffney I'm guessing isn't healthy yet because someone else would have signed him I think, and Branch is basically in New England or nowhere, so you can come back to him later if Winslow doesn't work out.

Not only is Branch in New England, he was at Gillete at Troy Brown's Patriots HOF ceremony on Saturday. Brought Troy some chapstick onstage as a gag in the middle of the festivities.

There's no doubt Branch slowed down last season, but it's hard to argue with production. He's still far more productive than Edelman. Edelman was on the field for 117 offensive snaps last year and only produced 34 yards.

last year

evolving offense

new OC, new offense

branch is a year older, edleman has a year experience

hard to really make that call based on last year, and after 2 games

BM...seriously did you want Brady looking for anybody in 2012 other than Welker - Gronk or Hernandez??? Gronk had the Best year for a TE and Welker and Brady was playing catch with Hernandez in the mix. It wasn't a surprise that Edelman was a afterthought.

i know - i was clarifying - i have no problem with the roster in terms of not having branch/gaffney considering the emphasis on running game and reliance on the 2-2 sets

still got nothing for hilliard

last year

this is this year

branch was also thrust into an outside receiver role last year, skewing his numbers a bit

in this offense, branch is back in that slot position......i still say looking at blocking and separation, edleman gives you more than branch, especially when ST's are factored in

not sure where edleman gives you more than welker......if it is just a run blocking thing, a wear & tear thing, or there's something to the vast welker conspiracy theories

Please list the NFL teams with a #4 OG markedly better than Thomas.

Thanks!
Please tell me an organization that will piss away the following money:

Albert Haynesworth - $? million
Chad Ochostinko - $6 million guaranteed
Jonathan Fanene - $3.85 million guaranteed

only to turnaround and subsequently penny pinch Pro-Bowl right offensive guard Brian Waters.

How much of a raise would you give Waters?

I'm not well versed on the particulars of the Waters situation, but I doubt it's as black and white as you're making it out. I highly doubt BB would choose to hurt the team based on money alone.

It's also somewhat unfair to say they pissed money away on Fanene.

Anyway, so no answer to the question?

which is why there's gotta be more to it than a difference of $1 million

Wasn't it reported that Waters really didn't want to come back? How do you know that it is still the Pats who are balking on this? Waters may still be riding the fence because he doesn't feel like playing. Are they supposed to offer him $3 mil? 4? 6? until he chooses to come back?

I don't think BB views Ninkovich as an elite DE. I really don't know what your beef is with the guy. He's a solid run defender, and a pretty crappy pass rusher. Nothing wrong with that.
DE Rob Ninkovich – 60 of 64
DE Chandler Jones – 58 of 64
DT Vince Wilfork – 57 of 64

He certainly plays him like one. My only beef with him is I think he's incredibly overrated by the coaching staff and a portion of this fanbase.

How much does it cost to fit Tom Brady in a body cast?

What is the cost of letting one player hold up a franchise? How do you measure that? If they give in to Waters, every decent player will be able to use him as a precedent in future negotiations: "Give me another million or I'm not coming to camp. NO? Why not? You did it for Waters".

YOU dont think a extra Mill is worth is to keep the *franchise* Tom Brady upright?
