Patriots Agree To 1 Year Deal With Kellen Winslow Jr.

I'd cut both. Hoo-Hoo's blocking was just as putrid as Hilliard's.

I thought that Salas might've had a future, but perhaps Bill took a look at his WRs & at last realized
that as long as both Welker & Edelman are here, Salas is redundant & is a luxury we cannot afford
when the rest of the WRs are Lloyd and...Slater.

WTF is going on with Gaffney?

hoohmanawanui (sp?) cant be cut until after week 3 or 4 (he has to be on the team for 3 weeks)...and he probably WILL be released after that...and then put on the practice squad...which is what i expect will happen to salas, hilliard, and rivera (salas mostly)

the only reason he was in was because fells still isnt 100%

its a pity that even with all the te depth the pats have now...injuries have still destroyed it (except gronk so far)

I asked this question in another thread, but I'll ask it here, too:
Why can't Hoo-Hoo be cut until for another 2/3 weeks?

Players signed from other teams' practice squads must remain on the roster for 3 weeks. It has only been two. One more.

Thanks; I must have forgotten that he was signed from another team's PS.
If this is his last week then, I hope he spends it in street clothes.

If Winslow and Fells are ready to go, then the Hooman will be inactive.

Linebacker Mike Rivera, also waived Tuesday, cleared waivers as well. He has exhausted his practice squad eligibility.

You can cut a player that you sign from another PS at any time, but you have to pay him for 3 weeks.

"Players signed off one team's practice to another team's 53-man roster shall receive three (3) weeks salary of his contract at the 53-man roster minimum, even if he is terminated from the 53-man roster before earning that amount."

I'm not sure that Josh will cut our backup TE. There are THREE active TE roles, plus an inactive backup. Since Hernandez is unavailable and using up a roster spot (I'd rather have Hernandez on short-term IR than Shiancoe), then we may be carrying 5 TE's on the roster until Hernandez is well. Alternatively, we can try to have Hooman or Silvestro on the Practice squad.

Hernandez is important enough that I'd rather have him available ASAP as opposed to sitting out the 8 weeks required for short-term IR.

Nice article by former NESN, now Herald, journalist Jeff Howe on breaking down the versatility of AH

Aaron Hernandez’ void deep - BostonHerald.com

quick synopsis: Here’s a quick statistical breakdown of where AH lined up this season. He was on the field for 68 of the Patriots’ 69 snaps before the injury.

Wide left: Two snaps (one reception)
Left slot: Eight snaps
Tight left in three-point stance: 14 snaps (one touchdown reception)
Tight right in three-point stance: 12 snaps (one reception)
Right slot: Nine snaps (one reception)
Wide right: 16 snaps (one reception)
Running back/fullback: Seven snaps (one reception, one run)

Break it down a little more, and here’s a look at Hernandez’s snaps by position:

Wide receiver: 35 snaps (three receptions)
Tight end: 26 snaps (two receptions, one touchdown)
Running back/fullback: Seven snaps (one reception, one run)

------

I can't imagine KW2 can replace more than a third of that.

Best guess is Wes picking up slack in the slot, KW2 picking up slack in the TE left tight and TE right tight positions, Deion in the wide left and wide right positions, and Woodhead or (hopefully) Vareen in the backfield.

Thus maybe 4 guys each doing a little more can compensate, which is probably what you want to have anytime you lose a very good, versatile player. Few are as versatile as AH though.

That multiple overtime 1982 playoff game in Miami when SD pulled it out --- Great player, best game ever.....
I would rank that up there with the SD Cinci game or the Cowboys in GB during the last Ice Age.

I knew a friend of Fouts and he used to tell me stories. Fouts is still haunted by the Cinci game. Absolute nightmare. Those guys all suffered from exposure to the cold, but losing the game on top of that .... the worst.
