need some help: what do i do with myself

Is the season really over?

I look forward to the games every Sunday. How can the season really be over? Football makes it much easier to get through the daily grind at work, because you know that every weekend you get treated to a Patriots game.

In fact, I have terrible memory otherwise but I remember things that happen in my life to Patriots games.


For example


My father brought home my dog Bandit in 1997 on the weekend that we defeated the Chicago Bears.

My wife (fiancee at the time) were checking out wedding halls on the weekend the Patriots broke the all time win streak record against the Dolphins in 2004.

My Dad's uncle died the day the Patriots won their season finale against the Miami Dolphins in 2002.

I got my cat Chloe this year when the Patriots played at Buffalo.


I remember that Halloween was on a Sunday in 2004 because that is when the Patriots were destroyed by the Pittsburgh Steelers to end their win streak.

I remember I broke down in New Hampshire coming home from a ski weekend during Wild Card weekend of 2004.

when I used to play video games all the time and the Pats lost, I would play madden and setup the same game conditions and dominate the computer. It gave me a little satisfaction after a tough loss.

Nice...I used to do that as well. That was back when I had a Sega Genesis way back when I first got married. Now I just spend my time working on this website :cool3:

Me too. I went to bed, but couldn't get my mind off the game and couldn't get to sleep. So here I am too.

Here's a good one, how many people here saw that last interception, and actually spent 2-3 seconds before reality set in wondering how they may still come back and win the game?

It's amazing how focused and into a game you get into where your mind actually keeps you from realizing that the game is really over. We've never seen them lose an AFC Championship game before, so it's definitely tough to handle. Having to watch these next two weeks knowing they could have actually won this game is going to be rough. Watching Manning possibly finally win will definitely aggravate me.

I did. I thought quickly about how the Pats could possibly get the ball back before it hit me that there was no time left for them.

It's part of being spoiled with this current team, they have come through so often.

As for advice, don't fight it. I can never sleep well after big wins and especially big losses (Red Sox '03 ALCS comes to mind-I was a zombie for days). Just get through tomorrow and crash tomorrow night.

I think that is the thought for the night. And with that mantra playing in my head I am going to try to get to sleep. Things will seem brighter tomorrow, and I am optimistic about next year. So good night to all, and to all a good night.

i know that most on here are big fans, but most arent quite to the level i take it
i know that most that have posted in this thread are just like me and hold this team very closely to their hearts, we live and die with this team, and its jus so hard to take this loss
honestly, this loss might be more devastating that sb 31, def the two worst

ian, i too for a few seconds was like wait we still have a timeout, we can stuff them maybe we can get another....oh crap

i was gonna play madden, i dunno, the hours of sleep are dwindling down, and ive been a zombie at work the last couple weeks as it is (went on a mini vacation that i never recovered from)

i mean the thing is, this team, as a lot of us, is our escape, our escape from all the bad that happens in our lives, and lately theyve been making life so wonderful, so its oh so painful when it all ends like this
but, we'll live to see another day

i know tomorrow i will start doing sooo much draft research its ridiculous
and the crazy thing is, as brownfan80 kinda put it, i have other things that should go first, i want a new job, im tryin to make some new friends as all my old ones have kinda drifted to other regions as we recently graduated from college and such....it really makes it easier knowing there are others out there

I am going to be a damn zombie tomorrow. I took my night-night pills and they're not working My husband is in bed, sleeping like a baby, and here I am surfing the web and trying to avoid any sports sites. Of course, I can't go to any news sites, either, because it was a slow news day.

As I told my poor mother this evening as she was crying on the phone, "can't win 'em all!" But it sure is nice to think we could. I'm excited about the draft this year, and I think there will even be an exciting free agency period. Lets get these boys healthy again!
