This has an opening post with good commentary and information, which we definitely recommend reading.

I particularly love the excuse that the Jets are running a non-gameplanned "vanilla" offense all the time. Sparano is just run-sack-checkdown-punting all preseason because there's no real need to work on any execution in a brand new offense with new players involved, and the "offense with sprinkles" offense is "shhh" top secret.

All of those teams running actual plays and scoring touchdowns in the preseason? They're all fools. The Jets are playing possum on offense all preseason, just waiting to unleash the final product on the rest of the league.

It's no surprise Rex's offensive metaphors (and last year's "meetings") revolve around ice cream.

I love how Jets fans act like the Jets are the only team that runs vanilla offenses and defenses in the preseason. Like the Giants ran anything exotic last night.

Besides, when has a Sparano offense been that complex? I thought tone of he reason everyones was so happy that Schottenheimer was gone was that his offense was too unnecessarily complicated. Sparano was suposed to get back to basics and Ground and Pound.

What really tickles me about last nights Jet's debacle is how the biggest pom-pom boys over at JI have totally disappeared. SG3 and Ray Ray usually crawl back into their holes after a bad showing only to re-emerge a week or so later thumping their chests like nothing ever happened in the first place. Should be fun watching the Rats go 4-12 this year and watch all the little rat followers jumping off bridges all over the tri-state area.:rocker:

Ground = Tebow's #1 receiver
Pound = Result for Sanchez when the only thing between him and a DE is Wayne Hunter

loving this rotoworld blurb:

Jets RT Wayne Hunter was predictably manhandled in pass protection during Saturday night's preseason game against the Giants.

Hunter served up two full sacks, played a role in a third, and got off the hook for a fourth due to penalty. ESPN New York's Rich Cimini suggests swing tackle Austin Howard will see an increase in practice reps this week. The Jets' offensive line as a whole has looked brutal in pass pro so far this preseason.

I think this thread will be worth mining for the entire season ( Outside the Box, Crazy, outlandish ideas to fix the team):

Move the Jets to Los Angeles

...but leave Sanchez back in New York

Love the comment about trading guys for extra 2nd and 3rd round picks.....

Like who?

1. Sign the punter mentioned here (Jets Insider.com)

2. Whenever we get the ball Punt on first down so we don't immediately turn the ball over

3. Play nasty, blitzing defense and hope we score a defensive TD to win games 7 to 6.

lol

Sanchez can suck it but I believe in Tim Tebow. Hopefully the Jets go 0-5, forcing TIIC to make a quarterback change

It won't take that long. Imagine if Tebs had hit that TD pass last night, QB implosion.

I still have this gut feeling that we may be underestimating the Jets 0, though for the life of me I can't see how. Other than Mangold the others on offense are either talented with flaws, flawed with talents or just plain flawed. However the Front Office and coaches have conspired to make the flaws more obvious.

I remember back when they traded for Tebow, Fanseca was almost vitriolic in saying you cant have two different offenses, one for each quarterback as you end up with no offense. While this appears to be true from the first two games, the two offenses approach does limit the amount of practice the team gets in either "vanilla" offense, though technically its only one "vanilla" offense because Rex/Sparano are keeping the "wildcat/option" under wraps during the offseason. What we may be witnessing is Sanchez performing his "vanilla" offense ineffectively, and Tebow performing Sanchez' "vanilla" offense even worse, because he is not allowed to exhibit his version. His runs in the first pre-season game were not part of his "vanilla" offense (wildcat or option), but merely improvisational moves on his part.

While it is still early in pre-season, this cannot bode well for the Jets. Instead of simplifying the Schotty offense, they have made it much more complicated by having two distinct and separate offenses that bear no relationship to each other. I am guessing that this makes it very difficult for all to learn (especially rookies and 2nd/3rd year players). Instead of practicing hard on the overall offense, the time has to be split. Final thought is that this level of complexity must also limit the amount of situational football that is practiced, since the more plays that are practiced the greater the level of complexity (ie which play goes with which offense - argghhh).

There is no doubt in my mind that Rex is going "all-in" on this approach, a risky bet at the best of times.

I think Tom Coughlin asked Rex not to run the wildcat just as Marvin Lewis did. I think he also asked Rex to tell his O-line not to block. :singing:

Coughlin: "Oh, and could you tell Sanchez to su.... never mind, he'll do that without your prompting. Thanks for the help, Rex."

Imagine the state of Jetsville if Sanchez and the firsts go without scoring against Carolina...

That preseason championship may be possibly be out of reach if that happens?

they'll probably gameplan for that one like it was the regular season just to save face

As much as I dislike all Jets one player I have to say I like is Wayne Hunter. I hope he is their right tackle for the next decade

I haven't seen someone get turned around like that since watching a highlight of Reggie White destroying Tony Mandrich.

Why do they all have to be flawed. Can't some of them be flawlessly untalented?

I know Adam Schein is Jets fan, but he has gone overboard with the Jets ball washing this preseason. First, he writes a column guaranteeing that not only will Rex Ryan get the Jets to the playoffs this year, but will win aSuper Bowl as the Jets' head coach. Now he has written a piece how the superstar in the making, Mark Sanchez, had a great game that was derailed by Wayne Hunter and Hunter deserves all the blame for Sanchez' mistakes even his INT (which Schein admits it was a bone head play with poor mechanics, but caused by the beating that Hunter allowed on previous plays).

Here are some exerpts:

The first-team offense hasn't scored. If you are a fan, it's tough to watch. If you are a hater and are rooting for Rex Ryan's mouth to be shut permanently, you rejoice. Either way, it is impossible to eradicate the memory and stench of last year's collapse with the way the Jets have looked.

Yet, the most foolish thing you can do is blame Mark Sanchez, or the Sanchez and Tim Tebow insanity.

Ladies and gentlemen, meet Jets right tackle Wayne Hunter.

Yes, Sanchez threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown, a trait that plagued and doomed both him and the team in the regular season last year. Yes, it was a poor decision, made worse by poor fundamentals. But Sanchez was spooked by a couple of quarters of being treated like a ragdoll because of Hunter's wretched play.

I feel for Mark Sanchez. He earned the criticism last year. But he has handled himself with aplomb in every way this calendar year. Sanchez has been the first guy in the building and last one to leave. He hasn't succumbed to the omnipresent questions about Timothy Richard Tebow. He has shown more leadership during practice. Sanchez has an edge to him. He needs help.

Wayne Hunter is Jets' problem, not Tim Tebow or Mark Sanchez - NFL.com

Here is his prediction for the Jets this year:

I think the Giants and Jets both go 10-6 this year. Giants win NFC East. Jets AFC wild card team.

Here is his column guaranteeing Ryan will win the Super Bowl as the Jets' head coach one day:

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap20...k-jets-rex-ryan-will-win-a-super-bowl-one-day

I love this ridiculous part of the argument:

He's George Steinbrenner, Barney Rubble, Barnum and Bailey and Bill Belichick rolled into one. He will rub you the wrong way, trying to win while making sure his team simultaneously dominates the back pages in New York and gets plenty of national exposure. He's a cartoon character, a true showman and genuine ringmaster for the Jets' big-top circus.

But don't overlook the comparison to Belichick; he's also a great defensive-minded head coach. Players love playing for him. He is fueled and motivated by the epic collapse that killed the Jets' playoff hopes in 2011. The key is that he's smart enough to implement the changes he needs while staying true to his core beliefs.

Seriously?!? When has Belichick ever completely ignored the offense completely like Ryan does? When has Belichick lost the "pulse of the team"? Even in 2009 when there were lockerroom cancers like Thomas and Springs, he knew about them and tried to minimize the damage they could cause (and then ejected them the following offseason).

Oh how sweet it is

Also Tebow lmfao....missing on a guy that is open by ummm 20 yards? Time to end this freak experiment and think up of a better use for him. He's no QB.

LMF-Tebow?
