The 2012 season: the Jets [Mod Edit: STILL] suck

Mark it down, you won't see much more wisdom and self-awareness from a Jets fan:

i guess when a franchise is as championship starved as this one, irrationality is a way of life.

Jets trade conditional draft pick for Panthers OT Jeff Otah - Page 10 - TheGangGreen.com Message Board

to a Patsfanken post, no doubt.

If even a tiny percentage of Jets fans had this level of perspective, Jets and Pats fans might be able to find a better peace... but that's like asking a few International conflicts to stabilize through peace and understanding.

Well done.

I guess the WR competition is close. And that's about it.

Santonio Holmes is the Jets WR1.

Where would Santonio Holmes be on the WR depth chart?

Welker
Lloyd
Gaffney
Branch
Stallworth
Edelman
Ebert

I'd put him at WR3/WR4, which means that Holmes wouldn't even see the field in the Patriots basic 2/2/1 offense.

He would battle with Gaffney for the #3 WR. I would give him the edge though if everything was equal, but Gaffney's familiarity with the system and Brady could give him the edge. Lloyd and Welker are definitely above him.

Holmes would be the #3 behind welker and lloyd...but jets fans tell you he's a top 10 WR in the nfl

lloyd will have a better year than holmes...holmes isn't a #1 wr

Here are the Gaffney/Holmes numbers over the past two seasons:

Receptions
Gaffney - 133
Holmes - 103

Yards
Gaffney - 1822
Holmes - 1400

TDs
Gaffney - 7
Holmes - 14

Longest reception
Gaffney - 50
Holmes - 52

I think it's a legitimate question as to whether Holmes would even beat out Gaffney.

For his attitude alone most would pick gaffney. Holmes acts like a 16 yr old girl when he doesn't get the ball thrown to him.

Over or under 10 catches vs the pats the year? They will all be 7-12 yard catches like usual as well

In fairness, Holmes was suspended for the first four games of 2010. Not a fair comparison.

I think Gaffney is at best a #2 WR and I don't think Holmes is all that much better. I think he is really a #2 WR posing as a #1. He had one really good season when he was a #2 WR opposite Ward.

Fair point but inappropriate in this thread. Nevertheless that does nothing to dispel the fact that the Jets suck.

I am excited to see landry in their secondary. Not being able to cover a mack truck should be fun to watch when he plays the pats

Thunder, lightning and torrential downpours greeted the Green Beans for their first practice of 2012. God definitely is pissed over all the blasphemy, vanity, sloth, gluttony, lust, greed and deceit surrounding that loathsome franchise. :scared::stars2::violent:

The first collision between him and Gronkowski will be historical, even epical.

Given the averages, the odds are still not in favor of Holmes catching Gaffney in receptions or yards. If you prorate the numbers, Holmes gets to 117 catches and 1600 yards, both of which are still clearly below Gaffney's totals. The only place Holmes really has an edge is in TDs, and that makes sense, as he's been the #1 WR target for his team in both seasons while Gaffney has not.

Had Holmes not been benched in the 4th qtr of week 17 for his outstanding display of being the consummate team player, he would have easily had stats proving he mighta', woulda, coulda, shoulda be better.
