i wish i could wash my hands of it. but every time i hear somebody talk about it they always get the facts wrong. and it just keeps getting worse with every passing year and it pisses me off to no end. i can live with the facts but not the lies.

In ten years it will be so distorted people will want to try BB for espionage, treason and sports terrorism.

It will be dredged up when BB is eligible for the HoF. Naturally, he'll get in the first year and there will be so much backlash to that. Probably even bigger than the reaction to him being voted Coach of the Year during 2007.

I turn on NFLN and A Football Life: Kurt Warner is finishing up. The final hit of Kurt Warner's career came against the "Bountygate" Saints in the playoffs the year the Saints won the Super Bowl. I would be willing to bet the guy that hit him got some kind of payment from Gregg Williams for knocking him out of the game (and taking away his livelyhood/ending his career in the process, BTW).

Yet they deserve "a second chance" and recording opponents defensive signals is much worse.

Warner keeps defending that hit as legal and "part of the game." I think there's a macho part of him that won't go beyond that because it was something that happened on the field of play. I've lost respect for him harping on cameragate as something significant.

Was there anything not legit about that hit?

This is the fiction that has been established and nurtured by the press - that the Patriots used to tapes to secure complete knowledge of every defensive play call they faced between 2000 and 2007.

It really doesn't require a lot of thought to understand that this is a physical impossibility. And even if the Patriots tried to use the tapes against the very few teams they played a second time during a season (again, something neither proven nor even alleged), we've conveniently ignored the opportunity opponents had to change or disguise their signals, an obvious necessity since it was common knowledge that the Patriots were taping the signals in the first place.

I have always thought that one of the main reasons for the sideline taping, out in the open, was that the opponent knew you were doing it and would of course change signals.

The advantage then would be that the frequent changing of signals (perhaps even within a game, if they were paranoid enough) would lead to mistakes in communication by the opponent. Thus even if the tapes were never reviewed, even if there were no film in the camera if fact, you might gain some small advantage.

It would also be payback to those teams who were openly doing it to you as well (the Jets, in particular).

Nope, just pointing out something. Guys gets beat, blames defensive signal taping and publicly disproved red zone practice taping. Guy gets career ended by team actively looking to hurt him long enough to get him out of the game, guy shrugs shoulders.

It boggles the mind.

Well, what you describe here makes far more sense than the nonsense propagated by the media.

As we all know, this nefarious plot resulted in such a stupendous competitive advantage that it could only have been concocted by a the NFL's resident evil genius, Bill Belichick. Of course, a massive and unprecedented punishment was required to set matters right.

Sigh.

What the new sheriff in town, Commissioner Blockhead, failed to understand was that his very first responsibility was to not make things worse. His actions served to further inflame the situation, a condition which persists to this day. That such a dimwitted putz can make a fortune for being a professional doofus is proof positive that America truly is the Land of Opportunity.

It's happening again. Not my fault, though. Anyway, i just got him to all but admit that taping signals couldn't help them win that game.

He said he never insisted that the Pats taped the walkthrough.

Oh, and he called me "arrogant" at one point, which has been a high point of my life.

Ask him for a second chance

IMHO, you're making him look pretty silly. He just keeps saying the same things over and over while deflecting your questions. I don't get why everyone is OK with scouting a future opponent with a pen and pad, but a camera is no good.

Can you mention to Warner that they showed the Walsh tapes in their entirety on NFL network and ESPN and they were exactly the same as the tape Glazer released to Fox so speculating as to what was on the tapes that Goodell recklessly destroyed is at best dishonest and at worst wishful thinking on his part to justify the fact that his team got smacked in the Superbowl.

Really that's the greatest mystery here. It's perfectly acceptable to everyone to have staff members write all of this stuff down for future use but filming it is the worst travesty ever to befall the league. It's nonsense.

d%#*!@t, I forgot to bring up the fact that I'm like 6'3" and (unfortunately) like 270 right now and could fill Sapp's chair like a champ.

So I am guessing he didn't accept your offer to call into his show and talk about it? Man, these guys are gutless. This is the main reason I just come here for Patriots news.

That's all kinds of awesome. Anyway, I bet what he's really trying to say is persistent. Arrogant because you won't back down?C'mon, Kurt.

Our most recent exchange ended like this:

Him (paraphrased for correct grammar and punctuation ): "You sure know a lot for a fan. Are you sure you don't work for the Patriots?"

Me: "Pretty sure I don't. I do, however, have a desire to learn and the ability to read. It's my curse."

Like I always say, there's a reason Warner's pre-football-fame job was stocking grocery shelves. Maybe you should send him a link to google.com, enlighten him on the availability of information these days.

Everyone one of his Tweets at this point is along the lines of either "Oh, yeah, u know everything" or "So why did they destroy the tapes?"

It's like Jack Sparrow. It didn't matter what the chick was saying to him, all he could ask was, "But why is the rum gone?"

I also pointed out that he's calling the commish of the league he works for a liar who is hiding something.
