Meyer Covered up for Spikes, Hernandez and Harvin at UF

As long as we're on the subject of cannabis: There's no real reason for being on the list of NFL-banned substances except for the fact it's illegal.

in all seriousness, if a player suffers from glaucoma and resides in CA or CO or one of the many other states that legalized medical marijuana, will they be suspended? It's definitely not a performance enhancer so who cares.

I wish Chad Jackson smoked more weed...

Hernandez admitted to failing a drug test at Florida, a problem that cut his draft stock from first-round grade to fourth-round selection by the New England Patriots

I don't know what caused him to fall to the 4th round, but I'm fairly certain it was a lot more than one positive test for MJ.

Even where weed is legal, it isn't really legal. It's still illegal on the federal level, hence all the raids on (legal in California) dispensaries out here.

I, for one, sleep better at night knowing that evil evil marijuana is illegal and the wonderous miracle drugs alcohol and tobacco are still readily available.

Legality has nothing to do with it's status in the NFL. I suppose it's possible the NFL would grant a waiver for medicinal purposes (although I don't think they actually would). Heck, there were tons of legal steroids on the market up until about 2010 before the FDA caught on.

I could care less about Urban Meyer and Ohio Sate and Florida, but I must say that this article has a bad odor. I'm not a media hater. Color me one of those naive idiots who believes most reporters have a good and genuine intention.

But the lack of hard evidence in this piece is appalling. The giveaway is when the author tries to claim that former players won't speak because they don't want their NFL chances hurt. Ah, at best, 2-5 Florida players make the NFL per year. So we're too assume that out of the other 80 or so players per year the rest clammed up because they were delusional about their chance of making the NFL? Most these guys would have been outside of the "Circle of Trust" and already graduated, so what exactly did they have to lose in terms of NFL entry or fear of mistreatment while still at Florida?

Bull. If there was rampant unfairness in terms of player treatment, and all these former players were loyal to the program - as the vast majority of former players are - then they would be concerned about helping to fix Florida, not trying to keep hiding the abuses of a coach they didn't like and was already departed.

Have to disagree with you sir. Stop reading now if you think being a doper is funny or don't want to hear a person that does not look up to the druggies of the world. You have been warned..................I don't know anyone smart who smokes dope. We have a President who does cocaine. There ya go. I am sure ganga was his first taste. I am sure there are others in authority who partake too. What do you think they call it dope for?

I don't want my Policeman, Fireman, EMT Medic, Pilot, Surgeon, Army Officer or even Cab Driver to be addicted to dope. You want any of them working to protect of help your family?
Why the hell do we want our athletes who our kids look up to being stoners?
And then we have posters giving them passes because they are college kids. What?

If you think it's cool and you have grade school children why don't you let them start now so they can be stupid too?

One dope stick of marahoochie=One pack of cigarette for lung damage. How many knew this raise your hands?

It amuses a lot of people. Perhaps I am one who is not. Ever know anyone who got a friend or family member killed by a driver on that crap? Everybody thinks drunk drivers are horrible vermin but stoners get a pass. I don't get it.

I see no problem throwing a stupid weed merchant in the slam for life and chucking the key and hopping his new roomie is Big Bubba.

I guess I am not cool. So be it. BB has his own dope related issues at home. I think his concern is sincere.

Enough preaching. Sorry. I hate to see kids ruined by anybody who creates an abuse problem. You smoke it, your a druggy. End of conversation.

Anybody know a stoner who quit the weed? I have not found one yet. You can even get an alcoholic to quit. Not a stoner.

Guarantee that 90% of you users have done even a little upgrade and the other 10% are sure to follow.

I have kids so this subject hits home and no it's not harmless.

I do agree with you that weed is a gateway drug. Every person I knew who smoked weed regularly ended up getting into coke.

While I understand what you are saying and agree with you somewhat, what really grinds my gears is that alcohol gets a free pass even thought it does a lot of the same things to the body. It pisses me off when weed smokers are looked down upon but drinking is A-OK by social standards.

FWIW, I have never smoked weed since I come from a family of addicts. However, my brother DID quit smoking pot (among other things)...he's been clean and sober 5 years last Friday.

Druggies!

I often wonder if smokers get into coke because there's something chemical going on in their bodies, or if it's just because pot is illegal and acclimates them to the idea of living illegal. The same back alley distribution channels that source your weed will target you for something harder when they think you're ready for it.

No offense but you're completely full of ****.

The thing about alcohol is that the majority of people drink without the intent of getting drunk. I'll go out for dinner with my wife and we'll have a glass of wine, or i'll go by a friends or my brothers and have a few beers. I can have a few drinks and stop. With weed or other drugs, the only reason to use them (unless for medical purposes) is to get high.

I really do enjoy the flavors of a single malt or a bourbon. It's even possible to go overboard and wake up without a hangover.

OTOH, even though I haven't smoked in about 15 years, it's easy to recall the early 70s when we could get genuine gold Colombian, Panama Red, Acapulco Gold etc. We were connoisseurs and would revel in the unmistakable aromas and rich flavors. Then the market turned green and boring. I don't know what it's like now being out of it for so long.

Well, if any punk does that at Ohio State, Mr. Vrabel, please punch him in the mouth. And if he needs help, call your bfl Mr. Bruschi.

We already had that crap (idiot QB and his ring of village idiots-Tat 6) having preferable treatment from Coach Tressel and nearly destroying the Program.

I don't want that again.

They BS is running deep in this thread, grasshopper. A couple of points

1. I think BB was explaining to the Florida players that indiscretions like Hernandez and Spikes did at FU will cost them money, like it did Spikes and Hernandez. Just like it will cost JJenkins a lot of money THIS year. It was an object lesson that their actions in college will follow them into the NFL. Its a good lesson.

2. Cut the crap on "marajuan is illegal" crap. If they tested every college football player under 21 for alcohol use there would be no one to play the game....and the last time I looked, in most states drinking alcohol under the age of 21 is "illegal". Of course Toy,I'm sure YOU never had a drink until you were 21

3. The documented destructiveness of alcohol is MUCH greater than MJ ever has been. The contention that smoking MJ leads inevitably to cocaine is just plain ludicrous. I'm sure all cocaine users have used MJ, but not all MJ users used cocaine. I'm also sure that all illegal drug users have use alcohol. Why aren't you on your high horse banging the drum against the biggest sponsors of the NFL, Toys. The least you can be in all your righteous indignation is consistent.

4. The world would be a much better place if alcohol was treated by the legal system like MJ is, and MJ was treated by the legal system like alcohol is.

5. It is stupid that MJ is treated the same as PED's by the NFL, and hypocritical that you can be suspended for having a joint after a game, but you're virtually encouraged to have a few beers by the league's major sponsors

Well said. I was not trying to lecture anyone on this forum about their morals. Everyone has their life.
Just don't judge me because it is painful for me to see a great college athlete pee down their legs because they are under the influence of drugs or alcohol. What got me going was the posters who seems to be o.k. with them as stoners. I don't get it. Aren't they role models.
If they users tell me they do nothing more than weed, sorry, I ain't buyin. Buy you do what you seem to need to have to do.
