Schefter: Pats sign Brandon Lloyd

He's also reportedly had personality issues (bipolar, etc)

He's been reported to have some behavioral tendencies that are inconsistent with the Patriot Way - Diva, locker room lawyer, etc. But I've not seen anything close to a medical diagnosis, and definitely nothing close to something as serious as bipolar. That's a really big deal if it is true.

And I'm not sure what the "etc." is but that sounds like a pretty grim diagnosis as well.

all this garbage stems from an "unnamed source" in the Broncos locker room saying other "people" in the locker room thought he might be bipolar because one day he'd be upbeat and the next day he'd be surly...as told by somebody in the Boston Globe in a column..."he could be a NUT!!!!!!"....right...so some guy heard some other guys in a locker room say Lloyd is bipolar...got it...and these rocket scientists are what?...NFL players??...for chrissakes, this can't get any more ridiculous...no on has seen anything close to a medical diagnosis because all medical diagnoses done on him since college report no such condition...until now...that crack medical team "Some Guys In the Locker Room" did it again!!!

This is an excellent signing. Automatically gives us a guy that can run down the sideline and stretch the defense out. I wouldn't mind a trade for Gaffney or having Branch brought back as well as another wideout added via the draft but at least now we don't have to use a high pick. Instead, we can dedicate that to the defensive side of the ball. Whether that's a DB or an OLB/DE, I'll leave that decision up to Belichick.

Fantastic signing. Lloyd should at the very least be as good as Joey Galloway, Torry Holt, and Chad Ochocinco.

Lloyd is a perfect fit for this offense! And Stallworth gives us a vet with experience who can 'take the top' off the defense. Plus Gronk and Hernandez get a year better. NFL defenses should be scared, very scared next season!!

Patriots sign WR Brandon Lloyd (3 years, $12 million): A+ Grade

Holy crap, how did the Patriots manage to rope Brandon Lloyd into this contract? This signing makes sense for so many reasons. New England desperately needed a receiver. Lloyd was the top player at his position on the market. He is familiar with Josh McDaniels' system. And best of all, he signed a ridiculously cheap deal.

Great player, who comes to the system that made him look great just 2 seasons ago, at 31 I think he's still at his peak phisically and not in his downhill (or just finished, like Ochocinco), and with a rational contract. Great, just great signing.

One underrated aspect of this signing: one of Lloyd's strengths is that he's known for not allowing interceptions. He has such good body control that he almost always either makes the catch or deflects the ball away. That quality alone makes him an improvement over a lot of the guys we had on the roster last year (Matt Slater couldn't even see the heave Brady threw at him in the AFCCG). Moss also wasn't much of a fighter for the ball at the end of his tenure here. Brady should feel better about throwing it deep with this guy in there.

Ocho has been poor, but at least he caught some passes and a TD!

Holt didn't make it out of camp, and Galloway was just awful!

As per Reiss' Twitter

On Brandon Lloyd 3-year pact, he gets base salaries of $900,000 in 2012, $1.9m in 2013 and $2.9m in 2014.

Also has #'s on Connolly and Fells

Certainly a very fair deal as far as the NEP are concerned.

Although it was kind of hard to fully project Llyod's possible salary, I honestly will admit that I saw it closer to about 5-6 million per, rather than the 4 it averages out to.

IMO if Lloyd along with Brady, Welker, Gronk, Dez, and WR #3 Branch, Stallworth or Eddlemen suits up for all 16 games we will have the most prolific offence in NFL history.

If we had a #1 RB...could very well be..but now with a ? at RB..not so sure..

I don't agree with that. Our offense creates running lanes for the running backs, and we have a good OL.
We are going to hand the ball to a competant RB. Last year the guy who got the most carries hit it for 3.7 a pop. Talent-wise Ridley and Vereen are an upgrade. BJGE had no more experience before he became a stater and was better in his first year than last year.
RB isn't rocket science. There are yards there for the taking, so any competant RB will be at least decent in this offense. We have 3 on the roster that are at least competant, and I'm sure we will add either a vet or a rookie as insurance against injury.

Damn, 2 mill vs the cap in year 1. Thats nuts. BB really is a genius.
