Schefter: Pats sign Brandon Lloyd

Love this signing for the Pats, and its great value. I said earlier in the FA wish list thread I thought he would get 3yrs $12mil, right around Ochocinco money. I think its fair for both sides because it is clear that he had no market at all, and everyone must have been scared off by his personality. I do have to warn though, I think eventually things will turn bad with Lloyd. The way his personality seems to be he will eventually clash with Brady and be gone. But with Josh back hopefully we can get 2-3 really productive years out of him first, and make this deal an absolute bargain.

However when he does this.

Don't get to upset.

Sorry couldn't help myself on this one..

Best of luck to the Patriots this season. Maybe a Niner Patriot Superbowl this year.

Haha I've watched that thing a dozen times and I'm still laughing, its great

He wasn't a free agent, he was still under contract with the Broncos and it wasn't until mid-October that he got traded. Having said that, it would have been nice if we had been the ones trading a 5th/6th rounder for Lloyd instead of the Rams.

This is the better answer.

I believe we didn't have those picks to trade in part because of Ocho Stinko.

Laron Landry was advised to have surgery on his left achilles tendon, he opted not to. No thanks!

He is trying stem cell first depending on your thoughts on that not a bad option.

I am not saying break the bank but giving the safety position on this team he is worth a one year proove it deal if his medical checks out meaning he is ok or your team doctor is ok with his treatment.

Unless lloyd made condon do it and condon could Feel fleeced and another ten years pass before we do work again. *sarcasm*
Condon is too preoccupied with the Peyton Manning sweepstakes.

Hello Patriot fans. Niner fan here. Please don't flame I am not here to troll or talk smack. Might not be a Patriots fan ( do not tell my family who are all Patriot fans ) I am however, a huge Red Sox fan! :rocker:

I just wanted to say good signing with Lloyd. Love this guy back when he was with the Niners, and had a lot of potential. Sadly we let him go due to a lack of production and being afraid of being hit. However, he did make some unbelievable catches. After Lloyd left the niners and mature some he has turned out, to be a very good WR. Should be a nice weapon for Brady. I see him as a number 3 guy for you..

However when he does this.

Believe me, if Condon believes his cut was way too small, on the Lloyd signing, Condon will make it up with the Peyton signing!!

This is the deal I wanted and the player I wanted ...ON FEBRUARY 10TH..here's the link

http://www.patsfans.com/new-england...sitant-get-deep-threat-page6.html#post2959132

here's the quote..
My view is they need a WR that commands safety help on deep sideline routes, making the middle one on one for either Gronk, Welker or Hernandez....every game this season Branch was single covered...Lloyd would fit, and already knows the system...I give Colston, at best, a 50/50 shot of being signed...Wallace is a pipe dream, the Steelers are NOT making the cap moves they made today and letting Wallace walk for the 31st pick in the 1st round...at worst, the pats NEED an experienced WR who can take the top of the defense off and command double teams.

For this I was savagely rebuked and called an idiot by none other than the board overlord and determiner of who is and isn't a "good " poster on this board...MoScrewySchlock...

Hi Mo!!! Have a good time spinning your way out of this...

Great news! Got Lloyd on the cheap and he could be a stud in this offense. No wonder why Condon considers Belichick persona non grata. Belichick is the only guy that Condon can't fleece.

On a side note, I was right. This was the Leigh Bodden contract negotiation. Many people freaked out when the Pats didn't jump right away and thought the Pats were either going to lose Lloyd or have to pay him a huge amount of money because they didn't strike before other players set the market. But the Pats did it their way and got the guy they wanted for far less than inferior players playing the same position got earlier in the week. Now let's just hope that Lloyd contributes more post signing than Bodden did.

On another side note, I was wrong that this deal wouldn't get done until after the Manning sweepstakes. Lloyd must have caved.

One thing is for sure. Either the 49ers really weren't interested or their offer was not a real offer. I know Lloyd was willing to play here for less, but not something like $5-6 million less.

You think there's a future quid pro quo between Condon and BB, Rob???

Great deal. Must have been the Brady hand puppet that won him over. Welcome to NE, Brandon.

Yeah, I think Condon got Belichick to agree not to try to acquire or draft any of his clients for the next five years so Belichick can stop making him look bad.

In their last two dealings, Belichick made Ben Watson cave to the six year contract prompting Condon to fire Watson. Now Belichick gets Lloyd to agree to a contract for less than what Eddie Royal, Robert Meachum, or Laurent Robinson.

I have to say...who saw THIS kind of lowball contract coming???Anybody who does is an outright liar...4 mil per..straight up??...only 3 years?? what the hell is the catch...this is too good to be true

I can't believe we got him so cheap, I thought we were looking at 8 million for him. Great job of holding firm by the Pats. Condon must be sick right now.

Not to pat myself on the back, but I did say yesterday in the "Belichick screwed up for missing out on signing Lloyd" thread that the way the market was shaping up for Lloyd (or lack there of) that I lowered my exceptions for him signing from $5-6 million a year to $4-5 million a year.
