Pats better get a deal done with Brandon Lloyd or hes going to be off the market in a day or so..

unless we want to go into next season with an even older Deion Branch and Ocho-stinko as our #2 wideout

I'm not that worried about it. Lloyd will let the Pats match any offer or even give them a discount. I still think Lloyd between his public campaigning for the Pats and the perception that he is a head ache underachiever for everyone except Josh McDaniels means he will not get a lot of action.

Carlos Rogers expected to resign with 49ers shortly. Deal will average $7.3 million per season

I said if lloyd didn't sign in 3 days..he won't be a pats..may bump that down to 1-2 more days now that he is really the top tier out there now

Not that I wouldn't love an improvement, but this offense did put up the 3rd most points and 2nd most yards in the league, and the team did go 13-3 and lost the SB by a tiny margin. BB will do what he thinks is best to improve the team; maybe it won't come at WR, though in the end I do think Lloyd ends up here.

Trust me..someone will overpay for him..just don't know who and will he give the pats a shot

Reggie Wayne Re-signs with Colts!

NFL - 5itime Pro Bowl WR Reggie Wayne will stay with Colts, agrees to 3-year deal.

Per Schefter

Interesting. Honestly i'm kinda surprised he decided to stay, not because I wanted him or anything but why would you want to? lol San Diego would have been a nice place or Miami, that's just one less top WR off the market.

Edit: Sorry, can a mod move this to the FA thread. Please and Thank you!

All of that is fine and dandy..but if they go another year not being able to stretch the field..they will be in trouble

Can we please not wield the "But BB!" and "But points!" lines as weapons in a free agent thread on day one of the free agency frenzy? BB's screwed up plenty over the past few years, and the points scored last year didn't mean a damned thing against the league's better defenses last year.

the Dink and dunk offense got us farther than i'd thought...but, it made it alot harder on us because teams just clogged the middle of the field.we really need a WR to play the sidelines/stretch the field..

wow, just started checking now. lot of good talent off the market already. yikes, so we are still hoping for brandon lloyd

who else if left at this point that can stretch the field like he can..no one really

First, he will absolutely give the Pats a shot to match. The guy wants to play here over making money. He is telling Patriots' players that he knows that he would take a discount to play here. Players don't do that unless they are truly willing to take less to play here.

Second, I still think the perception out there is he is a locker room cancer and underachiever that Josh McDaniels has some magical hold on. The Rams wouldn't have acquired him for a conditional sixth round pick last season if he was a hot commodity. I don't think he is nearly attractive to any other team other than the Pats than people here think.

but, we just signed Koutouvides

Re: Reggie Wayne Re-signs with Colts!

kudos to him, tough to leave the only place you know, but at the same count, this is a rivalry, and I hope he enjoys going 3-13 next year....

Why didn't we re-sign our own guys like Slater, Connolly and Ihedigbo before the start of free agency? Its not like we had to wait and see how the market developed for these guys. It seems we are just wasting time now on things that we could have handled over the past week, instead of using that time actually talking to free agents. I'm not saying that it would actually lead to any big signings, but it just seems like an inefficient use of time to me. Is there something behind this that I don't understand?

Its not unreasonable to assume that these deals were already done and just finalized and announced today. I'm sure they didn't sit down and begin negotations this afternoon.
Also the team cannot force players or their agents to sign. It is also possible that the deals have been in place and the players would not agree to sign them until they made a couple of calls to see if there was more interest than expected.

Laurent Robinson and Robert Meachum could probably stretch the field like he can, but I don't think either as a complete of a WR.

Wallace, but he's got a much higher price tag

i am not really taking him into account..i don't want the pats to give him all that $$. Discount in Lloyd over wallace please
