Steve DeOssie [8/24 Edit - FORMERLY of WBZ TV!]

Kudos to you and the others for trying. As I've stated before, nothing's going to take DeOssie down and your efforts are proof positive. I heard Ordway's nonsense about the soccer stuff as well as his all-out assault earlier aginst Jason Whitlock (for whom I have no sympathy, by the way - it's chickens coming home to roost for that asshat). Ordway is so righteous and indignant about those outside his circle of stooges, but he, like all of the others in the Media Network, protect one another like mother cubs looking over their babies. It's disgusting. Zolak and Gresh dressed down a caller for bringing the DeOssie issue up this morning, as well. They hid behind the tired, phony stance of "he should be rooting for his son's team", as if we're all too stupid to know that it's not that issue that's the rub. They're all frauds and apologists, every single one of them. Has anyone heard any media member criticize DeOssie in this matter? Other than some mild criticism early on from Michael Holley, I haven't heard nor read a bit. They should all be embarrassed and ashamed of themselves, but they aren't. Like Dossie, they're just merrily going on their way knowing full well that they've screwed the chump fans again just as they always have and always will.

Boston Media Watch has been consistent in roasting DeOssie but unfotunately its not a big outlet:

"Of course, the biggest fraud of the last week is Steve DeOssie, who led a Giants pep rally last week, acting like a high school cheerleader, taking shots at his New England media colleagues and the fans of the Patriots and saying how it he had a “hard time” sometimes living in New England – despite being born here, going to college here, playing two years for the Patriots and working here after his career, most of that on the back of the Patriots and their fans. He tried to explain himself (unapologetically) on the Big Show yesterday – DeOssie on Big Show: ‘I love New England’

But really, if he has such a hard time being here why doesn’t he just move to New York, be near his son, and the franchise he clearly loves and get a job analyzing that team? It’d be a win-win for everyone.

No one is asking him to be a cheerleader for the Patriots, but now everytime you hear him on the radio or see him on TV talking about the Patriots, you’re going to have the impression that it is all fraudulent, and just an act he puts on to appease the audience. You’re going to remember his talk about JPP and OSI and how hard it is for poor Steve to be around the area he grew up in. Even if there is no issue with what DeOssie said, it’s wasn’t the smartest business move for a guy who runs a restaurant and relies in other ways on Patriots fans support."

"Steve Buckley defends the honor of Steve DeOssie.

'This is for youse knuckle-dragging, nose-picking, mismatched-socks-wearin’,couldn’t-win-a-battle-of-wits-with-a-Pepsi-machine fans who are spitting up your Doritos over Steve DeOssie’s over-the-top passion for the New York Giants: You’ve become the laughingstock of sporting America.'

Nothing like insulting hyperbole to start off a column.

As usual, Steve Buckley has no clue.

No one is mad or upset that DeOssie feels a loyalty to the New York Giants, given that his greatest professional success came there, and his son currently plays for the franchise. It’s only natural and fitting that DeOssie would feel that loyalty.

What people have an issue with is how he talked at the pep rally, and the manner in which he talked about his colleagues and Patriots fans – as if they were all stupid. He also inferred that life is very difficult for him in Patriots country – even though he has made a nice post-playing-days career here in New England as a radio and TV personality, analyzing the Patriots, and with his restaurant and other ventures with Fred Smerlas which all depend on the loyalty of Patriots fans.

People don’t enjoy it when someone implies to others that they are stupid. People don’t like it when the appearance is that someone has put up a front to appease them for many years when in reality that person loathes them and has no affection or loyalty to them at all, and when given the chance, talks bad about them to others. His explanation of himself on WEEI was clumsy and unapologetic.

That’s what it boils down to.

If Steve Buckley really believes that people are angry at Steve DeOssie because he is simply loyal to the Giants, then he is the one who couldn’t-win-a-battle-of-wits-with-a-Pepsi-machine and deserves to be the laughingstock of America."

Bruce Allen at Bostonsportsmedia.com said exactly what we're saying: that DeOssie no longer has credibility with the fan base. He's the lone voice of "official" reason in the wilderness.

But it really is amazing how everyone else has calculatedly confused and clouded the issue by portraying it as Pats fans hating DeOssie for picking the Giants to win. That's got nothing to do with it.

Sorry, missed your post.

Why does this guy play up so much the fact that the Mara's helped him with his terrible pot addiction? It almost seems like its more of him bragging to have this connection more than genuine appreciation for whatever it is that they did.

You're right and I read BSMW every day, since it's the only way to save my sanity (what little there is left). I guess I've never considered Allen and BSMW as part of the main stream media, but technically, you're correct.

can somebody post the weei whiner line number again please?

I hate DeOssie, he looks like that meathead Darryl on Storage Wars

has anyone heard any positive feedback about Deossie's employment status?

Don't make light of it. Pot usage leads to overeating, so it something Steve obviously has always had an issue with.

if im the mara's im not taking any pride in being responsible for getting this guy clean

I turned a blind eye to the DeOssie bashing figuring that other folks like me were a little oversensitive after losing the SB. But...I finally gave in and watched the video. I can say without reserve that I don't want DeOssie on any radio or TV show I listen to or watch concerning the Pats. He expressed his true feelings and he ought to be man enough to take the consequences - Pats fans have no use for him. Instead, of fumbling apologies to save his well paying radio/TV gig (isn't rich how people's ideals go out the window when they realize they may have cost themselves some serious money? "I'm a heart soul Giants fan!!!" until someone tries to squeeze my purse.) he should admit what he said he is: a shameless NY Giants fan. The ramifications will be that no one around here wants to listen to him anymore. And for what good reason must we summon the insight and righteousness Buckley thinks we should and accept DeOssie back into our arms? We didn't jump on a stage and shout out how great all things NYG are. DeOssie did; and don't be so shallow please, Steve, to expect us to be impartial in our radio and TV enjoyment of our beloved Pats. If it weren't a matter of $$ you wouldn't be begging back into our good graces. Spare me. Please go away...

WEEI does not care, if you guys are serious about getting him off, then target the sponsors and companies who have ads during his shows and someone will listen to you. I have organized groups to get people of soccer shows before and it is easy. If you have justification and you can let the sponsors know, WEEI will listen to them instead.

personally, if I hear that "Charter Oaks Federal Credit Union" ad sung by Sammy Smarmington and the Hackney Orchestra one more time, I could go seriously postal...as far as a direct hit and immediate nuclear holocaust, a total boycott of that All Pro Celebrity Tailgate run by DeOssie,Smerlas and Loadway would certainly get THEIR attention...

I've heard the ad a million times, but didn't realize it was a "Three Stooges" enterprise (although I'm loathe to besmirch Moe, Larry and Curly with that comaparison.)

Guys, it's easy. If you don't agree with what DeOssie did (and most of us don't) change the radio or TV channel. There's no greater message to the media. Money talks and your money departing from the scene will speak volumes and result in DeOssie being finally banished from New England sports.

Don't give the media miscreants the benefit of listening to their incestuous ways. Turn them off and they will change teir ways.

I don't see us changing anything. Their arrogance is unbounded and believe that we are all idiots. I'm not throwing in the towel, nor am I pointing fingers as any of us. Just simply saying that they (establishment) have zero clue. I would also say the majority of 'casual' (read pink hats if you want) fans could care less. Those two in concert means DeOssie will be here. They'll just lump the rest of us into the 'fanatic' group and continue with the 'knuckle-dragging' talk in the hopes that we'll just go away.

The real challenge, IMO, is to educate the casual fan to the two-faced nature of DeOssie and bring more people to our side. Simply attacking the establishment won't do.

I am open to suggestions...my site is a small voice, but a voice none the less. I'm happy to have any "guest columnists" write for my site if they feel it'll help.

Last night for dinner, my lady and I dropped in at the local 99. I ordered the 12-oz. New York strip sirloin for $15 and it was one of THE BEST steaks I've ever eaten. At Fred & Steve's it costs $38. What are you paying 200 percent extra for -- the ambiance? To see Steve's face give an impression of a baboon's ass?

I remember when DeOssie was on WEEI two weeks ago defending his outrageous disparagement of Patriots fans. At the end of the segment Ordway asked him if he was worried about the fallout hurting his steakhouse business. DeOssie said he didn't think so because it's a "high-end" restaurant. In other words, we lowly fans can't afford it anyway. He closed the conversation by apologizing for his voice because he got hoarse yelling for the Giants the day before. What a ****.
