OT Fiesta Bowl

that guy looks like wes welker, lol, and the play looks like a welker play of this year too haha

You are either being sarcastic or you don't know jack **** about football....I'm going to assume you made a bad joke.

wrong on both accounts...but feel free to voice your opinion.

Giving you the benefit of the doubt....please don't put WW at WR.....greatest slot of all time....but not outside WR...

Quit being a drama queen Ken....the Pats haven't had a quality WR since Moss....and everybody saw what happened then....record breaking offense....the defense and Josh's playcalling cost the Pats that SB....not having a top flight WR.

If you think the Pats wouldn't be better with a top notch WR...then really....I don't know what team you are watching....the Pats are great offensively "in spite" of having crap at the WR position...and would be devestating with a top notch WR.

Instead of having Chad Jackson....think of...your choice....Dez Bryant....yeah...they would be a lot better on Offense....

ummm .. pats had the lead on that last Giant possession .. What game were you watching?

Wes Welker is not a quality WR? Got it....thats all I need to know about your football knowledge...good day...

Your welcome.......love how he stretches the field......

And I am a Welker fanboi....but I am also a realist....

You have the best QB in college, so you run the ball and leave it up to your kicker. Then you run the ball some more and leave it up to your kicker.

You got down to the other teams 30 with 50 seconds left and you took the air out of the ball.

That's what I call snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Nice edit but you said nothing about ouside vs slot you stated WR and he plays WR. Not to mention he has lined up on the outsides a lot the last two seasons.

lol ... haven't heard that since 09 ... how about "blow the top off a defense?"

Yeah....verbiage can be such a detriment.....let's just visually watch the 2010 Pats playoff game.....where they didn't either "stretch the field" or "blow the top off a defense"....please.....

a lot of posters thinking the Pats are all set at WR.....very sad indeed....let's spend another 4th round pick this year and see what we can "develop".....

are you serious? Crumpler doesn't drop that bunny in the end zone, we are not having this discussion right now. scram

Welker is not a prototypical WR....trust me when I say that I don't care enough to "edit" a post to change my point....really....

So....to your post....what I infer from it is that you think WW is as great a wide out WR as he is a slot WR....if so....then...I would borrow from one of your previous posts about football knowledge...but....it doesn't really matter....

Give us a fast...good hands WR to balance out the TE's and WW....and TFB will give us a SB....and no...that WR does not exist on our roster at this time.

Stretching the field...really? He has been the best WR on back to back offenses that have scored over 500 points. And was a big part of a 3rd 500+ point offense. So I'm not sure stretching the field is a neccessity when you have an offense that can consistantly move the chains. The big strike is needed for teams that have QB's that piss themselves several times a game in key moments causing drives to fail. That is not an issue with TB.

This seems relevant...
No team's #3 receiving option had more yards than Hernandez this season. No team's #4 option had more yards than Branch.

I would obviously welcome a big time outside receiver to keep Welker in the slot...but to say that Welker is only a slot receiver is not giving him full credit for what he brings to the offense and you must not notice how often he is on the outside with Hernandez (mostly) or Gronk lined up in the slot.

Brady had that and we didn't win the SB. I don't think that is the one thing keeping this team from winning a SB....

And you must not have seen my original post in the thread where I stated a WR like Blackmon would look good in a Pats uniform, however a big time receiver is not the biggest need in this draft.

Ahh... a realistic comment....

Problem is the Jesters last year and the Squealers this year put the clamps on the Pats passing game because it has been to a large extent short/quick routes....jeez....this isn't news or rocket science.....

The Pats have been putting points up in spite of this....give them Wallace from the Squealers and it is lights out....however you want to term what he would do to a defense....

As a note to anybody hanging their hats on the "uselessness" of a top quality WR....take a look at the Bengals and Falcons this season....they don't have TFB....but they have WR's....

The quality of the Patriot's offense is a testement to the brilliance of TFB...(and the TE mismatches).....not to the quality of their WR's.

An AJ Green, Julio Jones etc...type talent would be awesome, but then you get into is the guy smart enough to play in this offense. As we have found out several very successful veteran WR's have not been able to pick it up, and Brady refuses to throw it to them, because he doesn't trust them to be where he expects them to be and they are rendered useless and cut...with one obvious exception who is currently on the team.

Brady stated that Moss was the smartest receiver he has ever played with, I doubt he would say that about a Dez Bryant. The Falcons payed a kings ransom for Julio Jones and they have Roddy White and Tony Gonzalez and they still had issues offensively this for big chunks of this season. I love AJ Green don't know much about his accumen but he is a great talent.

I like Blackmon a ton, and I would trade up for a Safety or beast DL, but not a WR.

I might have missed your original post.....I don't disagree that the biggest need we have is not a big time WR.....however.....We do disagree in that I would like to see the Pats spend the early round picks or trade up for a big time WR....

Think back about how many posts were on this forum (7,385) about how Peyton Manning had higher stats and was thought better because he had quality WR's and TFB had average to below average WR's that he made very good....that is where I am coming from...

This thread has been hijacked to all get out.....I know this is a normal draft cycle topic, but we have a week before the playoffs....I think I will take some time tomorrow to see about putting together a topic on Pat's WR's and the effect of the rule changes on the importance along with the Pat's emphasis....I'm off work tomorrow, so I will have some time.

BTW....didn't mean to start an argument versus discussion.....I will take the blame for that...I think I am a couple of posts behind too....
