A Broncos fan's perspective on this Sunday's game

The Bronco's are due for a Blow-Out type of game and what better opponent than the New England Patriots. Ball control is the name of the game, Keep Brady and company off the field and when they do manage to get on the field introduce Mr. Brady to Von Doom and Company on many levels. I know I am seeing alot of things through Orange colored Glasses but......... The Denver Bronco TEAM is a much better team than they are being given credit for.......IT'S TIME FOR A STATEMENT GAME

Bronco's 31
Pats 17

Quote from that thread on who will win

wow..they are horrible...right up there with jets fans

Also..all the bronco fans are brining up brady being 1-6 in denver

that has no carry over from year to year

Pats will be pumped because they are playing a good team...record wise..talent wise..not so much

Their crowd will be in it..just gotta score first to shut them up the whole game

Same old talk another week.

To beat the pats all you have to do is pressure and hit brady... and double Gronk and Welker... That's all then our defense will just run over the pats.

We have been run over in one game this year and hats against the redskins.

We hear every week how easy it is to beat the pats and all you have to do is X Y Z.

yawn

You're right, NE's past record doesn't mean much. But scoring first isn't going to shut a crowd up that's seen as many last minute comebacks as this crowd has.

The Pats will need to be up by 3 scores with less than 5 minutes to go to if they hope to keep the crowd out of it.

My greatest sports media fear:

Expectations after Sunday - Broncos Country Message Boards

Prepare the bomb shelters in case of the Tim Tebow nuclear fallout!

As an outside observer I just don't see this as possible or even plausible.
Unless NE. has a melt down, true-fully, Broncos just have little or no chance of winning this game. If the Tebow hype (and theres is a reason they call it hype) was not there and flacco was throwing these numbers, this would not even be on the NFL channel.
So, putting the useless feel good story aside.

Its the 3rd ranked offense Patriots Vs the 21st ranked Broncos
2011 NFL Standings, Team & Offensive Statistics - Pro-Football-Reference.com

and the 14th ranked Defense Patriots Vs the 22nd ranked Broncos
2011 NFL Opposition & Defensive Statistics - Pro-Football-Reference.com

Its pretty easy for us to see that NE's defense is improving, and can easily hold the Broncos to 14-17pts against the Broncos pedestrian run and pass game.
And its pretty easy for us to see that the Broncos defense matches up horribly against the Patriots offense, and has been lucky to play against much easier teams.

We had Fox in our division for years. He's always been a run the rock guy, and not very hard to game plan against, and he doesn't compare to BB or the Patriots staff.
I can say with 100% certainty , Fox will not change the Broncos style of play. They will run.

I know I joked around with this Tebow thing, because its kind of fun, and its always interesting to come here and chew the fat with some smart fans, but we are also VERY aware that most of the NFL stations are not going over the numbers on this Broncos team VS Patriots. Because they can't , it would kill the story when people found out just how bad the Denver Broncos are.

Pats are going to win this game

as far as that "the fans will be loud the whole game!!!!!" braggadocio, here's a newsflash for all you buckin' Broncsters..the Patriots get the loudest reception of any team in the NFL for EVERY road game they play....Brady and Co. are used to playing in it...what they are NOT used to is getting jobbed by "Hee Haw!!" ref crews who make calls like the Watson play out there a few seasons back...that game was the biggest disgrace of the season as far as unabashed homer refereeing goes in the entire league.

Nice post.

I just saw that Tillman INT a couple hours ago and was amazed.

I love Pete...man, miss him bigtime on EEI

Broncos fans hear the same thing.

To beat the Broncos, you have to make Tebow beat you with his arm. He can't pass a lick, etc...

It's going to be a good game.

Oh......you mean that one time that Revis didn't HOLD Welk?.....yeah I remember that!

Interested to see if they leave Bailey 1 on 1 with Welker. Welker has constantly beaten great CBs, he even got a 70 yard catch on Revis. I don't think Bailey can cover Welker alone.

Well, the only way you can cover Welker is to hold him. Refs get tired of calling it though. I love the post on the other site about jamming Gronk and putting him on his rear end once and making him scared. Um, Gronk carried Ryan Kerrigan down the field. Getting physical with a 6'7'' beast is not an approach you want to take if you're looking to succeed. It really is as simple as, get to brady, you have a chance. It wouldn't hurt to pretend that we're going to run the ball at some point either. Play action works, especially against a D that loves to play the run.

I'm actually glad that we had the skins game to prep for the Broncos. Washington's edge rushers are just as dangerous, and they have a decent secondary. That damned stadium out there in Colorado just seems to haunt us.

Greetings,
Putting my score prediction in this thread, because I will not have Internet access for the rest of the week.
Pats 20
Broncos 14.

Hey Pats fans....

Contrary to what you may believe, or what you may have heard, Tebow's improved tremendously from a passing standpoint. Some of the crappy numbers he's put up (3-16 first half last week) simply aren't his fault. And I'm not in love with Tebow or against Tebow, I'm just calling it as I see it. Our WRs are absolutely miserable. We had a handful of drops in the first half last week, on third downs, on potential touchdown grabs, on potential big plays...you name it, we dropped it. His one INT last week was on a fantastic defensive play, and before that he had only one all season.

His mechanics could not be any uglier still, but his accuracy has improved beyond belief. He has the occasional errant throw still, but he's definitely shown that he'll get better

....

Prediction: Pats 34, Broncos 24.

Thanks. Agreed on Tebow.

I'm the only one I know (meaning I'm probably wrong) who thinks that Josh, who knows BB as well as anyone, traded up to take Tebow at #25 because he thought The Hoodie was going to take him at #27. I watched Gruden's long interview, film session and workout with Tebow for the ESPN Draft special the prior week and came away from it thinking, "he's Belichick's kind of guy."

You're more optimistic(?)/pessimistic(?) than I am about the outcome of the game though. I have no idea how to pick this one.

If BB had intended to take Tebow, I don't think he would have taken Tebow out to dinner in the North End, in front of everyone. That act virtually guaranteed media exposure.

Hey Pats fans, back again to talk about this weekend's game. I'll be around until next Monday or Tuesday, so feel free to ask me any questions you've got about the Broncos or anything else.

I'm living in the New England area, so I've seen almost every Pats game in addition to all the Broncos games, I think I've got a good idea of what to expect this weekend.

Breaking down the Broncos:

Our strength is clearly our defense. Our secondary isn't that good; our safeties are about average. Dawkins brings a lot of heart and is great against the run, but his pass coverage is iffy. Our other safeties are average at best, making some good plays here and there and giving up some big plays at an equal rate. Champ Bailey's still a top 10 corner in football, great in pass coverage (although not quite lockdown like he was a few years ago), but Andre Goodman is not good. He's been getting beat consistently week-in-week-out, but he makes a big play every so often to keep teams thinking he's solid.

He's not. The pick-6 against the Jets was literally thrown right to him, as was Ponder's INT that won us the Vikings game.

If Brady stays away from Bailey, he shouldn't have much difficulty passing if he gets enough time.

That's what's going to be huge for us. Our linebackers and DLine are way above average. DJ Williams had a huge week last week and has consistently been an above average linebacker throughout his career. He's greatly benefitting from teams focusing on stopping Von and Dumervil.

The combination of Miller and Dumervil is pretty threatening to any QB. The one game Miller missed, we gave up 30+ to the Vikings. He impacts our defense that much, he's absolutely amazing. The problem is when the D focuses too much on them, the rest of our D-line is solid enough to be able to get through. We're finally getting pressure on the QB, which is helping out a lot. We don't force a ton of turnovers, our D has just been making stops.

Still, I fully expect the pats to score 24+, if we win this game it'll be because of Tebow and the offense.

Before you laugh...

Our running game is great. McGahee has played very, very well this year. A great run D can stop him, but the Pats don't have a great run D. He'll run it, our fullback will take some short-yardage carries, if Eddie Royal's back he could run it, Demaryius Thomas could run it, and of course Tebow will run it. It's a solid run game, top in the league in terms of average. I suspect we'll have some success on the ground.

What do I expect? I don't think we'll win this one. Not because our "luck" has run out, not because I think Brady and Co. will figure out Tebow and the Bronocs...just because I think the Pats are a better team.

That being said, as a Broncos fan I can't consider anything a surprise anymore. These last few weeks have been absolutely crazy. FOUR consecutive 4th quarter comebacks. Our last 6 game win streak came when we played you guys last and beat you in overtime with McDaniels leading us with out disgusting brown and yellow uniforms. It's been a while. We're just enjoying the ride, and while I would have marked this game down as the one I wanted to win the most 2 months ago, at this point we're just playing for the playoffs and we're in good shape.

Love him or hate him, it's hard to argue with 7-1 as a starter considering Orton was 1-4. I'll be happy with a close game.

Prediction: Pats 34, Broncos 24.

Nice post. I have to back you up on what you say about Tebow/his receivers. I've watched 3 or 4 Bronco games this year, and can't believe how much his receivers drop balls. I hope, as a Pats' fan that they keep doing so. Good luck.

if the pats are up 10+ with 5 min left..the crowd will be out of it. Tebow can only get that one score when it matters. Anything more than that 1 score..he can't do it

Pats should win by at least 17

I love Pro-Football-Reference.com - Pro Football Statistics and History

But I have to say that it is next to impossible to see how the Patriots' defense is getting better. If giving up career days to Dan Orlovsky and Rex Grossman adds up to "improvement," I need a new dictionary.

The Patriots defense is getting worse every week and this Broncos team is better offensively in many, many ways than the Redskins who matched the Patriots score for score until the clock ran out.

I do not share your optimism about this game - at all.
