Geez. The NY tabloids are even being harder on the Jests than we are. Awwww, too bad, but the article is a nice way to start Saturday morning.
:bricks:

"Ryan became a cult hero to Jets fans craving a championship. But there’s only so many times you can make a promise, not deliver, and then expect anybody to still pay attention. Even if Ryan’s guarantee for the 2011 season was greeted with the proper amount of skepticism, it was taken for granted the Jets would at least get back into the playoffs. But the Jets are done — even in a league where things change so drastically from week to week."

The comments are comedy gold. Damn those stupid white boys in the OL tryin to get The Sanchize killed!

Last year Rex took the heat off his teams troubles when they went on a losing streak when he was caught sucking toes in the footgate scandal.

I wonder what he has to suck now to get the attention off his team?

Belichick has the answer!

Something that fascinated me about the Jets/Broncos game:

On two particular plays, it seemed like the Jets (or Schottenheimer in particular) were trying to emulate Brady and the Patriots.

The first was the 'quick WR screen' that Brady ran on them during the no-huddle when a WR was uncovered. I can't remember the last time I've seen Sanchez yelling so much at the line, then throwing to the WR while everyone else is playing run. I know the Patriots aren't the only ones to do this, but again, I really don't remember seeing Sanchez ever run this audible before.

The second was the failed direct snap to the RB. I don't remember seeing the Jets run that in the past. It seemed very odd because it seems like a play you need to practice regularly and can be very easy to screw up, so I was surprised they would have added it to the gameplan on such a short week.

I don't know what to make of it, but it almost seems like Schottenheimer is grasping at straws with his offense right now.

They need to get creative. Their running game is in the bottom 1/4 of the league, their D is shotty and their QB cannot carry an offense.

If bombasity was a NFL statistic they would lead the league, Rex is reminding me of an unpolished version of Pete Carroll...

The comments are priceless. When it gets to the point that your defending your QB on the basis of his race you know you've reached the bitter end.

Nice. This helps pass a long weekend waiting for Monday Night.

You're right... comments are priceless. :rocker:

Ha Ha
Rex the coach who cried SB

Someday Rex will have an apocalyptic blubbering nervous breakdown in a post game presser. The NY media is brutally abusive and the fans are coming on board. tick...tick...tick...

way to early to call them done. They were 4-5 in 2009 and ended up in the AFCCG. Couple of similar breaks and they will be in the playoffs.

LOL

Rex and Sanchez laughing it up after the the Mile High meltdown.

I felt from the beginning that sexy Rexy's bombastic approach in NY was a very dangerous approach, ESPECIALLY in NY. It's great to get all the meat heads pounding their chests when things look good but the rats are going to be tripping over each other to get off the ship as Rexy's feet start to stink more.

The entire situation in NY makes it impossible for Wrecks or Sanchize to succeed. Woody Johnson wanted a new stadium and the Megabucks it would bring. To do that he needed to sell lots of expensive PSLs and season tickets.

As a consequence the preseason PR machine was turned on full tilt two years ago, to get the Jests fans ....to BELIEVE!

Any rational observer could see that Jets were nowhere near the quality of a true Super bowl club. Might they squeak into the Playoffs as a Wild card? Possibly yes. But they could only do so, without any significant injuries and depth was minimal to non-existent. The JEST fans are so desperate they can't tell what a Super bowl contender actually looks like. So they bought the PR hype, and then bought the overpriced PSLs and season tickets.

The Jester coaches can't even field 5 competent Offensive linemen and the cupboard is so bare, there is no prospect of finding even an adequate 4th and 5th starter.

So no matter what they do, the denouement is preordained.

The Jester fans who were and feel cheated, are calling for Heads to Roll. Inevitably the sacrificial lambs are always the OC, the Head coach, and the QB.

So the innocents will go to the Guillotine, and the guilty like Tanney and especially Woody will skate. Only to to rinse and repeat in another five years.

Bhub-Bye Jets for another decade.

I don't see it happening. Several major differences:

1.) They won't face two teams at the end of the year resting players for the playoffs allowing the Jets to back into the playoffs at 9-7

2.) 9-7 won't let you get into the playoffs this year or at least it isn't likely to

3.) The 2009 Jets had the #1 ranked defense (both in yards and points allowed) and running game that year. Right now they are the 7th ranked defense in yards and the 15th ranked defense in points allowed and the 25th ranked rushing offense.

4.) They got to the AFC Championship game that year because they played a Bengals team that peaked far too early in the Wild Card round and a Chargers team that always chokes in the playoffs.

I don't see the Jets going 5-1 or 6-0 the rest of the way which is what they will need to do to get into the playoffs. They will likely lose to the Giants who are a significantly better team. They could lose to the Dolphins who are rebounding right now. The Eagles are the top rushing team and the rush defense is the Achilles Heel of the Jets' defense. The Bills also have a top running game (6th). I could see the Jets losing any of those games.

True, looking at their schedule I'm waiting till they're officially eliminated to rejoice. The team has hit similar lowpoints/embarrassments in the past 2 years while we laughed it up then they somehow went on a run. Still alot of football to be played
