Nope, Tim Tebow can't play in the NFL

What's with all the Tebow love?

Tebow seems like a very good guy, he's also an underdog who's succeeding when everyone said he would fail, and he did it last night against a team which we all despise. Nuff' said.

Oh, well, in that case,

SCREW HIM.

What's with all the Tebow love? I've never seen this much ball washing of a QB we need to play in a few weeks. I'm glad he beat the Jets. I am genuinely respectful of his apparent quality as a human being and the extent to which he assists the unfortunate.

He has the combo of a super jesus-freak and an underdog. Not only is he tugging at the hearts of those who believe in god, but those who love the underdog story. That's a lethal combo in this country. Oh and let's not forget that he's not a bad looking guy either... hat trick.

Personally, I don't care about his looks, but I am a sucker for the underdog story. However, the over the top religious stuff canceled that out, so now I look at him neutrally.

I went into the game last night thinking I'd see a decent, young QB, but the fact is, he's merely a RB or TE trying to play the QB position. In fact, I've seen RB's make better throws than he did last night.

The fact that people are pointing to his W/L record and actually trying to give HIM the credit is absurd and makes me wonder how many of those people actually watch football or just love his "story". Those who deserve credit for the wins are the coaching staff and the way the defense has been playing. Oh and of course god, because he only loves one person in the league.

I think you're combining a few points, separate from whether a 22 ranking is good. Objectively, a 22nd ranking and a high 70s rating are below average at best -- and I'd consider them bad.

Again, for a first 8 games guy who's strongest attributes aren't measured by QB rating, I think his QB rating is fine.

btw, let me ask you, since it sort of goes to the thread title and you've been perhaps the most vocal Tebow advocate here: Do you think Tebow is going to have a successful NFL career as a QB? (Personally, I don't. I could see him having a successful career as some sort of RB/QB hybrid, though, and his competitiveness and apparent love for the game would make him the kind of guy I'd like on the Pats in that kind of role.)

I have no idea. I think he'd have a chance to succeed in a modified version of the Patriots 2001 offense, but I don't see Fox figuring that out.

The Broncos O-line is the unsung hero of the game.

I thought the Broncos offensive line played quite poorly. That's a major reason the Broncos had 8 punts in a row - they couldn't block the Jets to open holes in the run game.

But others seem to agree with you so I'm not sure what I'm missing.

You're not missing anything..they were bad. No holes at all..Mcgahee was like 12 for 18 yards

I get why the world likes him. What I don't get is why Patriots fans like him. And not just any Patriots fans, but Patriots fans hardcore enough to take the time to post on message boards.

I am a Patriots fan first and a football fan second. Even if others here wouldn't describe themselves the same, I would at least hope we're not dealing with any of that bullspit crap about people having a "second favorite" team in the AFC or a "second favorite quarterback." F-ing repulsive.

Now, don't get me wrong. I do not, for example, root for anyone in the NFL to be accidentally eaten by a gorilla. That said, the amount of time I would be sad if Ladanian Tomlinson or Ben Roethlisberger were to be accidentally eaten by a gorilla is not as long as it would be for others. I would probably put Tim Tebow on the list of "AFC players whom, if eaten by a gorilla, would have my sympathy longer than Ladanian Tomlinson or Ben Roethlisberger." But that's as far as I'm willing to go.

I will root for Tebow in exactly one circumstance -- when it is in the Patriots' interest that the Broncos win. In circumstances in which it is in the Patriots interest for the Broncos to lose, I will hope he goes 0 for 40 with -11 rushing yards. If there is a game in which one of the teams has more players I wouldn't mind as much if they were to get eaten by a gorilla, I guess I will root for him because he seems like a decent human. But really, I don't care. If he plays the Packers in the super bowl, and they are undefeated, I probably will root for him, although seeing Mercury Morris cry on tv also wouldn't be a bad thing. So, that pretty much sums up my feelings about that.

Because the media has this weird love-hate thing with him and have kept him in the spotlight for as long as they possibly can. It's the same reason why asking 10 people on the street what they felt about Kim Kardashian's divorce, you'll probably get at least a 60% response rate (regardless of the answer). Reality is, nobody in this area should know or care about Kardashian, but because she's a media darling, we get to know ALL about her.

Tebow is a sports version of a Kardashian. Some bash him, some think he's great, but talking about him is just forcing people to make an opinion on him.

If he wasn't some media darling, nobody outside of Denver would be talking about him. If and when the Broncos were mentioned, we'd simply hear about how Fox is winning with some QB who is playing way in over his head.

Totally wrong.

I have no dog in the hunt since I was not a Tebow follower in college and am a science guy, not in the same ballpark as an evangelical. No offense intended to evangelicals, just a statement. But as someone not in the evangelical camp I've noticed many snide shots at the kid where his public religiosity somehow irks the pundit. Comes across as elitist snobbery to me. Your mileage may vary.

Watched our own Andre Carter's post game interview late Sunday night. Must have mentioned or thanked God several times. FAR more than Tebow post game last night. Guess we gotta get the hate Carter thing going now.

To be fair to Andre Carter, I haven't heard him say you're going to hell if you don't believe in God, unlike Tim Tebow. (I can't find the clip where he directly says it but I was gobsmacked).

It's really not worth getting into again. As I said, he could flame out starting his next game. That won't change what he's been able to accomplish to this point.

At this point, you're just parroting the other bigots.
Do you consider Tebow a bigot for the above mentioned comment? Religious fanatics, especially those who openly express their position flaunting it as superiority are incredibly annoying.

Good luck to Tebow, I hope the Pats crush him.

Don't get the hate for all non-Pats QBs, I mean when we're not playing them or not threatened by them winning a particular game. For example, a football fan and a Pats fan can miss not having Peyton play this season, a lost opportunity to watch an all time great. Why not enjoy Aaron Rogers' season? Right up to when he loses to the Pats in Feb. And were the Pats not to be there it wouldn't kill me were he to go 19-0 and shut the senile '72 Dolphins up.

Note I'm clearly NOT talking about guys like Vick or Rthlsbrgr who generate good reasons for despising them.

lot of meathead football fans out there who love their team and hate everyone else...maybe they should grow up a bit

I don't hate Tebow, I hate the media for constantly talking about him.

Tebow vs Goliath!!! Tebow for president!!! Tebow 90210!!! Tebow teletubbies!!! Tebow the barbarian!!!

Tebow the QB???:bricks:

I like em, I like clowning on em as well. lol

The over saturation of the Tebow story is by no means his fault. Someone rightfully pointed out that the Tebow coverage amounts to the Kardashians. At the very least, Tebow has accomplished something in his short professional career.

Re-read your post, focusing on the bolded parts, because it's the only thing that matters right now in terms of what I'm saying. The rest is just background noise.

Again, Patriots fans should know this.

But they're winning in spite of him, not because of him. They're winning in spite of the entire offense.

Since Tebow took over as starter, the Broncos offense has averaged 1.31 points per drive, 23.5 yards per drive, and scored a TD on 15% of their drives. That would rank them 26th, 25th and 31st in the league. When Orton was playing, the Broncos offense averaged more yards per possession, more points per possession, more TDs per possession.

The offense is all a QB's play has an affect on, and since Tebow took over the Broncos' offense, it's performed worse, not better. The fact that they are winning more games is entirely coincidental to Tebow playing or not.

It was me lol

But screw him otherwise. I hate him. I hate all the other AFC QBs not named Brady, Hoyer or Mallet.

The dude wears a Broncos jersey. F him. I don't care what commentators say or don't or who was right or who was wrong. I want Tebow to fail miserably unless it is more important for the Patriots to have the Broncos win than whomever they are playing that week.

"Hate" is such a strong word to use in sports. It is a game, you know? It's suppose to be positive outlet to use in your life, not one filled with as much animosity as you seem to have.

Okay, that's fine if you really don't give a hoot about anything that has nothing to do with the Patriots. Not a big deal, and you're entitled to feel that way. But not everyone feels the same. Other people can respect, and admire what other athletes on different teams have to offer.

Is it love, or just admiration people are having for him? Tebow exhibits the qualities we wish half the human population would exhibit. If there were more people like Tebow in this world, we'd be living in complete harmony. If there were more people who was like Tebow, they'd be much happier human beings. People would achieve a lot more with their lives, and we wouldn't be a society that's constantly at each others throats.

I think a lot of people who are so against Tebow in ever way are those who have done nothing meaningful with their own life. So when they see a Tebow that comes along, they resent him with everything in him.

I bet Tom Brady of all people is a big fan of Tebow's.

Isn't it interesting how this young man does nothing but win in the NFL with 4th qtr comeback drives. He marches his team down the field when his dopey coaching staff takes the ball and chain off his ankle and he's allowed to "play" in the NFL.
Can you imagine what a Charlie Weis would do for this kids development??
Been saying this from day one. Tim Tebow is a winner whose critics are far more offensive than anything Tebow ever does.
Choke on that Sexy Rexy.......

The wildcat worked for a little while before teams learned how to defend it. Once teams figure out how to beat that offense, Tebow will fade. I supsect BB may have a good gameplan for it.
