Sometimes the other team is better prepared and just kicks your butt. It happened to the Great Packers 6 times last year. It has happened to every other Super Bowl Champion other than the 72 Dolphins at least once.

That being said, the secondary and the lack of a deep threat are very concerning.

the pats should never have deferred the coin toss. you want to set the tone with the offense unless your defense was good - which it is not.
