i hate hearing two first round picks...the raiders are not going to win a playoff game, so it's a 1st and a 2nd. unless carson palmer of 5 years ago shows up, cincy came out way ahead.

The Bengals get the second 1st round pick if the Raiders make the playoffs, doesn't matter if they win a game.

Raiders are currently tied for the second best record in the AFC right now and are a half game behind the Chargers for the AFC West lead. They also have wins over the Jets and Texans, which may help in the Wild Card scenario.

It does appear that people have forgotten that the Raiders are 4-2 and appear to be a more than reasonable team in 2011. Despite the price, the acquisition of Carson Palmer means they have a better QB than Jason Campbell and Kyle Boller immediately.

For the record, I think the Chargers will win the AFC West. That leaves the Raiders fighting out for a wildcard spot. It makes for some interesting sub plots as the season progresses.

Palmer is reunited with his previous 2 time Offensive Coordinator (Cincy & USC) I think if anyone can get anything out of this guy, it's Hue Jackson. Steep price to pay, especially with the Raiders not having a pick in the first 4 or 5 rounds of this year's draft. But it may work out for them this season by taking them to a division win and maybe they'll be active in FA to try and even things out for next season

Palmer was totally underwhelming under Hue's tutelage at USC. He didn't have his breakout season until his senior year, his second season under Hue's replacement, Norm Chow. Hue was never the OC in Cincy, he was the WR's position coach.

Jim Brown retired young, was never traded from the Browns. You're probably thinking of Herschel Walker- the Vikings paid a ridiculous price to get him from the Cowboys; that trade basically launched the Cowboys' 1990s dynasty.

In all honesty this is how great teams are formed (for the bengals i mean).

They have their QB and WR for the future they believe. Have had high 1st and 2nd round draft picks over the last 4 years. Now they get 2 1sts this year and possibly next. That can really help set a team up.
