At the end of Week 6, the Patriots have 3 weeks to decide whether or not they would allow him to practice. Once he starts practicing, the Patriots have 3 weeks to either put him on the active 53 or IR him. At any point in the cycle, the Patriots can IR Cannon.
I wonder if Cannon can play center? Certainly he has had enough advance notice (Koppen got hurt in what week one?) that it is a need. I think that Connelly has done a very good job at center, but Cannon could be an upgrade.
Of course, asking a rookie to play center might be a little too much to ask (center has to make line calls for blocking assignments). I think that Waters has more than held up at guard, and if nothing else, having antoher guard would be nice.
If you use Lester as a comparision, he was OK when he first came back, but the difference a year later was night and day.
What is more interesting is that Brace/Deaderick came come off the PUP list on October 17th and the trade deadline is Oct. 18th. Plenty of teams could use a defensive tackle......

Cannon can sit and learn. Waters has been the signing of the season for the Patriots.
Who r our Backup T's and OG's???
Cannon most definitely could play a Swing G or a potential swing T.
I liked Connolly ever since Mankins held out. Connolly is showing me how we do NOT need Koppen any longer. Dan is on pace for being our next starting C for yrs. to come. Stay Healthy and keep playing well my friend.:rocker:
Yes, he's on PUP. We and the media have no info whatsoever.
Patsfans has a poster Jack Bauer who shall we say has his ways of extracting fingernails, I mean information, from the tight lipped. We'll see if a Croatian Warlord can be made to talk. I have my doubts.
Whoever isn't starting between Vollmer and Solder is the backup T- I'm hoping/assuming that Welch being cut means that Vollmer's back. Connolly was the primary backup at all 3 interior positions, but now that he's been pressed into starting duty, it looks like Ryan Wendell's the next guy in line. If/when Cannon comes back this year, that's whose spot he'll be trying to take.
Seriously, not enough has been made of the fact that the Pats' line has been missing two starters (three from last year) pretty much the entire season. Connolly and Solder have been playing so well that nobody's really noticed.
Indeed, Connolly, Waters and Solder have all have had fantastic seasons to date. If Connolly holds up well against the bigger NT's (Halata etc) I think it's his job next year
Just curious, how much would you be willing to pay Connolly, as a 30-year-old free agent?
Hmm...bout tree fiddy.

You mean you haven't been following the full hour briefings that BB and Cannon's doctors provide daily on his status......
