Butler released

Re: Schefter: Butler released

Brace, Cunningham. And I see a few potential in this year's draft class (Dowling, Vereen).

Don't forget Guyton, Light, Koppen ...

Re: Schefter: Butler released

Thank God, an awful player !

He sucked last year, in training camp he was getting smoked by Barnes and Ross. In the 1st preseason game the 3rd string Jags were owning him. Yet there were still tons of people of this site who thought he was playing well. LOL !

Where are all the Butler Butt boys now ? Telling us how this is a bad move. Doubt we'll hear from them.

Re: Schefter: Butler released

Call me crazy, but I think his drafts actually improved post-Pioli.

That said, Pioli's drafts have been pretty solid in KC, the Tyson Jackson pick notwithstanding.

Pioli and BB both seem to have had excellent drafts last year, and both have drafts with potential from this year.

For some reasons, 2006-2009 don't measure up to the bookend seasons. Some of it's explainable (2007), but the fans still deserve an explanation that they won't get short of a book being written.

Wow, I didn't see that one. 2 years is all he got. This has got to be about more than his onfield perfomance or lack of there off.
What does the CB/S depth chart look like? McCourty/Bodden/Arringon/RasI at CB and Chung/Barret/Brown at S. God knows where Molden figures into the equasion. How is he on STs?

Re: Schefter: Butler released

So, I cut depth at DB ('cause you just KNOW a DB or two will get hurt) to add a scrub at TE. And, no, I'm not a Butler fan, really. Since he lost his confidence, he's looked lost on the field.

Seems to me that BB is putting all his eggs in the D-line basket. This better be the best d-line ever assembled. QB;s better not have any time to throw. RB's better fear getting the rock.

So, starters: Bodden, McCourty with Arrington at nickle.

Ras-I and the new dude as back-ups.

Hmmm...

You'd prefer we keep 6 on the roster? Your only gonna carry 4 active on gameday, so we'd have a position that saw 2 inactives on every week. The only reason we would carry six was that 1) one of them was going to transition to safety (which still could happen) or 2) one was just keeping a seat warm.

I think we have our answer now on which was which.

Butler ain't going nowhere, so if the......... ummmm, circumstances arise that require his services, he'll be there. I personally feel much better with 5 CB and 3TE (all with NFL experience too).

I was thinking players drafted relatively high just recently. But I do see lots of complaints against those guys too.

I dont wanna say anything negative because i have said how much the drafting has sucked. No surprise at all.

Re: Darius Butler Released?

Weren't you one of his more loud defenders?

Not that I recall, but I'm typically conservative with my judgments/criticisms of players. Call it giving them the benefit of the doubt.

Re: Looks like Butler was cut

On the bright side, that must be good news for Arrington and Bodden, health-wise.

Yeah, hope you are right. Bodden apparently practiced Monday; Arrington was still out. Best case would be for the fifth CB to see a half dozen plays on defense this year.

I hope Dowling is the real deal and becomes something.Doesnt have to be a great player but good enough.

This one saddens me as I was so excited when the Pats got him. Major disappointment. We waited for Butler to "make a f*cking play, Darius" like Brady shouted to him from the sideline last season, but it never happened. Officially a bust for us.

Yet another wasted second round draft pick.

Nothing to see here. Move along.

I give them the benefit of the doubt too man. Until I see a good amount of suck, then I'll call it like it is. This dude sucked plain and simple.

Re: Schefter: Butler released

We're getting rather thin at players to Hate. But i think that won't last long, i figure the Miami game.

Wilhite was picked up. Sanders and Meriweather were picked up.
Butler, Wilhite, Sanders, and Meriweather were all starters at points over the past two years.

Hell, Molden was picked up. By us. Ihedigbo as well. Brian Waters.

Just as we look at guys like Molden, other teams dump the last player on their roster for a former second-round pick starter. There are 31 people saying, right now, "He might just need a change of scenery."

Don't be surprised if Butler goes somewhere.

Yeah, he did suck, you'll get no argument from me. I was only hoping he'd snatch victory from the jaws of defeat and finally put it together... but alas.

On the other hand, this makes me all the more curious about Molden.

Why do you think the fans "deserve" an explanation?

No doubt I'd like to hear what changed between 2008 and 2009 in terms of scouting and draft strategy, but I don't think I'm entitled to that knowledge.

Right!

That Maroney is a dancer. Can't stand him!
Oh, right, they did, Denver.

Fred Taylor is always injured.
Really? A one-day contract?

Moss is totally dogging it.
Of course, right, Minny.

Brandon Tate totally cannot run a route. And what's he doing coming out seven yards deep with the defenders already at the five?
Already? Cincinnati?

Ty Warren just let that contract go to his head -- and his stomach.
Denver too. Huh.

Have you ever seen a more sorry bunch of high draft choices than Wheatley, Butler, and Wilhite? They each give a ten-yard cushion! I could go out there and give a ten-yard cushion. Two seconds and a fourth? Total waste!
All three of them? So, wait, who is left to complain about?

Ah, Cunningham!
We better see more than one sack, young man.

The fellowship of the miserable really lost their binkies this season.
