Based off of a preseason game. It's comical.

I have have heard individuals claim Tom Brady can't cut it under pressure and then compare this loss to the likes of current playoff defeats. Lets not forget the refs are out to get us according to some. And Chad isn't a capable NFL receiver.

BTW Welker has just been IR'D along with JE. Woodhead is now the slot receiver.:bricks:

The only thing I was really upset with was the effort or lack there of. I didn't think the Pats came in with an agressive gameplan against a team with an extremely aggressive one, but that didn't excuse the mental mistakes, poor execution, horrible tackling, etc.

On the whole, I don't put too much stock in preseason games, but I am never happy when the Pats dog it.

Tom Brady and Chad have yet to develop any kind of chemistry. Reminds me of Brady/Galloway a couple of years ago.

As Belichick would say, when something looks really good, it's usually not really that good. When something looks really bad, it's usually not really that bad.

Overreaction is the norm in here in the preseason...always was, always will be

The only thing I can say that we saw in this game and what we will probably see in the real games is Chad being lost on this team....I don't think he will be much of a factor in this offense,he is no Randy Moss which some get excited about him having that potential...he'll get his 500 or so yards, nothing to write home about while Branch will be the guy that gets the deep yardage when Brady needs him.

I don't see any comparisons. By all accounts, Galloway didn't want to put in the effort in learning the playbook, presnap reads, and route adjustments. OchoCinco has been busting his arse trying to learn it. Galloway had the offseason to learn the playbook and develop a rapport with Brady (he signed with the Pats on March 14, 2009). Ochocinco has had a month.

It is unfair to Ochocinco to compare him to Galloway. Galloway had five and a half months to develop a rapport with Brady. Ochocinco has had four weeks.

This.

Welker and Branch have spoiled us, to an extent; you don't see that many QB/WR combos where both get on the same page as quickly.

I still think people are giving up on Ochocinco too soon. He has been a Patriot for a month. If he signed with the Pats in March or April, he would have a far better rapport with Brady right now. I think he might be lost in September, but he could come on strong in October or November.

I don't expect him to be a stud, but he could become a consistent target.

I was saying Brady hasn't been playing well in big games last year. I also wasn't one of those this pre season that said we have a great team and we're going to win the SB. It's a long season and we have a lot to improve on.

Agreed. Its going to take time. He'll be OK.

Like I said, anyone expecting Chad to have a 1,000 yard season needs a reality check, not only does Brady (post-Moss) have plenty of targets to throw to,Chad needs a lot of work.

500 yards on the season seems to be my guess for C.O. with Branch being a more frequent target, even in late season.

Is it Ocho and Brady developing a rapport or is it more Ocho can't catch a beach ball right now? Moss didn't play or practice with Brady (afawk) for over a month before week 1 and then what happened?

I think Ochocinco will end up having a 700-800 season since he will take time to learn the playbook and the presnap routes. I think you are giving up on the guy too quickly. He will be better than Tate who he is replacing who had about 430 yards.

Brandon Tate had 400 yards last season....so why should the Pats keep Chad over Tate when both have been pretty awful this preseason but at least Tate still has more potential?

Moss still had the offseason including passing camps, minicamps, OTAs. Also, Moss didn't run a lot of routes for the Pats early. In fact, he never had the route package that other receivers like Branch or Welker had. Ochocinco has a more complicated route package because he is more of a route runner than Moss.

Moss still had more time to learn the playbook and his presnap reads than Ochocinco.

Because Ochocinco is a far better receiver at this point. Chad will get better over the season.

Tate has a lot of potential but seems to have trouble with routes and both Brandon and Chad have not synced with Brady.

It's really tough to say who they should keep but Tate is still young while Chad's best days may be over.

It would not be a shocker to see them keep Tate and cut Ocho....probably only 20% chance but I wouldn't be shocked.

Ocho is a BB favorite and that would no doubt be Belichick's toughest cut should that unlikely situation occur.

In preseason, neither has shown anything over the other to say who is better for the team...if it comes down to Ocho and Tate for the WR spot,it will be a gamble either way.

I think people in here see Tate as a Chad Jackson type receiver who disappoints expectations and are afraid he will amount to nothing like Jackson was here.

Ochocinco isn't getting cut. He will be the Pats' #3 WR. He will produce more than Tate did at that position last year.

Brady>Ocho isn't really a problem. Just give them a little more time.
