Ochocinco needs to shut the eff up

It's managed to draw in every malcontent poster from whatever rock they generally lurk under until opportunity knocks. Ian usually waits until the real damage is done before over ruling his mods and dumping this crap where it belongs. Members here who play the spygate cheating card and hijack threads as a result should either be banned or permanently banished to the practice squad forum. As should the knuckleheads who incessantly play the moronic Goodell hates us card. Goodell got used as a rookie commissioner by a bunch of jealous little pricks who do hate us - and Bill in particular - is all. People with half a brain realized that a long time ago and moved on. It's only insecure idiots, from without and within sadly, who refuse to get over it or let it go.

You ever wonder why this team isn't popular and other teams fans hate ours, look in the mirror... They're ROFL at this place tonight. Way to go Patsfans...

And Chad does need to shut the eff up. Bill's mantra is the league will do what it does, his job and Chad's by extension is to play by the rules. If Chad has an issue with the way infractions are called by officials or the fines the league hands out as a result, he can take that up privately with his dad and quit being the attention seeking media whore he is... I guarantee you Brady liked that call, considering his receiver couldn't manage to hang on to the ball...and he hopes to get it routinely in season. And FWIW while the fine seems steep, Florio pointed out there is language in the new CBA that effectively limits the actual amount collected to a reasonable percentage of the players weekly paycheck which if this clown is around long enough to collect on will be at least 1/17 of $375K... Not to mention the fine is a tax deductible business expense...

The man in Cincy appears to be the same he is in NE,an attention grabbiing media whore who wants the world to know everything so they focus the spotlight on him by using a worldwide website where almost everyone goes and everyone talks about.

Most players who decide they wanted to do something nuts like reimburse the player that nearly decapitated him would telephone the guy privately or email him without the world knowing, especially if he were breaking NFL rules.

This is between two athletes and no one needs to know this unless they want the world to know how wonderful they are :

It's good to see an athlete who apparently loves the game and plays to his best most times but does he really need to share his 'generosity' with everyone?.....does anyone care?

I hope when the season starts this stuff is put on a shelf and Chad produces on the field instead of a chat room....we need him to try and help win games, not win the hearts of twitter fans.

Hate me or not in here but that's my view.

Nobody hates you for it, it's just that your view is wrong, ignorant, arrogant, and a whole bunch of other adjectives. Now, this is where you say "whatever, I'm entitled to my opinion!" and I remind you, once again, that that doesn't mean you're entitled to have that opinion taken seriously. It's completely irrational axe-grinding and will be treated as such.

Agreed........ WHOLEHEARTEDLY. I totally regret starting this thread. As someone that has been posting for over 4 years, I should have known better. Shame on me.

Mods, please send this POS to the practice squad where it belongs.

Chad wants the world to love everything he does...sometime I wonder if his personal life is so boring and lonely that he does off the wall and crazy stuff just to get more people to like him.

Why else would he not use his cell phone to the player and break NFL rules privately?

Some people think he's fun and entertaining...obnoxious is my POV and I know many disagree but that's your opinion.

And because you do a talk show/video for the Pats (whoop de do) doesn't make your view right either

You think what you think and to say you are right for no other reason than your love for funny and comedic athletes is just as arrogant.

Think about it...who says YOUR view is what is correct?....there is no right and wrong unless you have insurmountable evidence....this is an opinionated message board, live with it.

Short answer: logic.

Those tweets take a matter of seconds to write, and in no way take away from Chad's ability to concentrate on the team and learn the playbook. If it did, Belichick obviously wouldn't have traded for him. And if it did, everyone who spent 30 seconds in a day doing something unrelated to winning football games would be branded by you, and that would accomplish all of nothing. For consistency's sake, you should probably march down to Foxboro and shout down all those lazy players who waste perfectly good time after practice signing autographs for fans. They could be using that time to learn the playbook!

That, fundamentally, is why, your peculiar brand of relativism aside, I am right and you are wrong. In short, my understanding of events is not only consistent with basic logic, but is also consistent with reality. It's consistent with how everyone around the situation, up to and including Belichick, treats the "issue" of Chad tweeting. For all of you who are saying that Belichick has some major issue with Twitter, you were the same people who were saying that he would never trade for Ochocinco, since Ochocinco represents everything that Belichick wished to avoid. To all of you: your take on Belichick's perspective has already been disproven.

Bottom line: about half of the players on the Patriots roster tweet. Belichick went and traded for probably the most prolific tweeter in the NFL this offseason. Said player continued to tweet at the same frequency as ever, and has not been punished for it, which would clearly indicate that Belichick didn't make being a Patriot contingent on ditching Twitter. Belichick doesn't personally use it, but there's no evidence whatsoever to indicate that he has a problem with it, and a mountain of evidence to indicate that he has no problem with it at all.

If violating a rule and getting caught is considered cheating then every player who draws a flag is cheating.

"Cheating" is obviously a highly inflammatory word, and trying to redefine it as something innocuous is disingenuous at best.

Drawing a flag is a penalty within the game.

Whatever. I find it amusing the way people rationalize what happened.

It's like if one of my relatives were caught breaking the law and then gets punished, I'm not gonna rationalize it other than what he committed if he is found guilty. I'll say he "screwed up", still treat him the same (unless it's a serious offense) and keep it moving.

The only thing I say about spygate is that if it was serious enough, then the NFL would have taken those championships away or at least banned BB for a significant amount of time.

...
Personally, I wish people would just forget about it and move on. It's really not that big of a deal. People in the media and ignorant players who hate the Patriots just blow it up to be this huge ordeal when it's really not one.

I agree, the taping @ from the wrong place is really not that big of a deal but try telling it to people outside the NE area.

Thanks to the ignorant players and people in the media - and of course the great Commish Goodell - who blew it up, it has become a smear in the Pats name that will never go away.

So, it is wishful thinking to expect people to just forget and move on. Just try stepping into some of the bars - not all, but enough - outside NE.

Back to the OP: Can't believe that there is a thread on our board asking the players to shut up because oh-my-gosh-we-will-be-in-the-bad-books-of-friggin-Goodell-who-hates us. Jeez!!

Should our players be that spinless and need suggestions from the fans to have their tail between their legs and run like a frightned dog once Goodell turns his stare on us? Bull!

Ocho knows what he's doing and the implications of the same. He is doing what he feels is fair - which most players in the NFL and fans look up in admiration - and if that involves breaking a rule and paying a fine for being true to his heart, he is fine with it.

I am sure BB or Kraft will step in tonight/tomorrow if they think he is pushing the envelope. Until then, Go Ocho!

At least he is man enough not to back away from his claims and let go of his right to speak just because Goodell 'hates' us.

What about a penalty that goes uncalled? For example, the uncalled holding that happens on every single play.

... what does my podcast have to do with this? I can't understand your second sentence/paragraph, so not even going to to touch that. As for what makes my view correct, how about common sense? Does that work for you?

you still have failed to answer my question

If this action is not about wanting to desperately be admired and loved by all,why isn't something like this simply done thru a phone line or an email?

Maybe Chad didn't pay his phone bill?..maybe Chad can't afford long distance?

If I wanted to do something crazy like that I pick up the phone and call the guy and say 'let me know if they fine you,I'll send you a check'...no one really has to be informed of this great deed except the two involved.

If only drug dealers used twitter instead of a phone every time they needed to contact their buyer...the world would be drug free and prisons would be overflowing (unrelated to topic of course,Chad is not a druggie )

I see by your "blue name" that your not a "paying customer", so feel free to turn off this "free" site at anytime. This is the 3rd post today you've denigrated this board and it's posters.

Just get the f^^k out if it bothers you so much. No one will care. Honestly.

Seriously? Your opinion is more valid because you paid money to an internet site?

Do you have any idea how silly that makes you sound?

I edited another paragraph onto my post- not sure if you care or not, but it's there, and it does answer the question for the most part.

As for why Chad is doing this publicly instead of in private, the answer to that is pretty obvious: he wants it to be public. That's kinda the point. Once again, I'm going to have to question what's so awful about that. Belichick doesn't seem to mind, for starters.

As for the emoticon at the end there, I'm not sure what to read into it. I hope you're not insinuating that you suspect Chad of drug use, since there's nothing in his history or personality to suggest that he does.

And he forgot to mention that $18 subscription got him a Pats T-Shirt and lots of Pats goodies so all $18 wasn't material-free (subtle plug for Ian)

Oh I've got no qualms about supporting this site. It's a fine site and probably the best board for ANY team out there. I'll likely sign up myself sometime.

But bringing it up as a reason for why someone is wrong is just imbecilic.

I know we just have to agree to disagree about this stuff, but the one thing that has to be agreeable is that Chad needs to make an impact ON the field to have a good chance of being where we need to be and despite all the circus activity off the field, that's what counts the most.

That's true,it's like telling someone in gym class if you don't wear Nike's instead of those generic Payless sneakers you can't play.

I've read all about the Spygate case, it comes down to what you think is cheating. The Patriots did something they shouldn't have. Whether or not that is your definition of cheating is up to you.

Do I think the fines were a bit steep? Yes.

But, that doesn't mean you have to scream bias, the plain and simple fact is that you don't know what would have happened if another team was reported first. Maybe if the Steelers were the team they would have lost 2 1st rd picks and Cowher fined 1,000,000 instead.

What did they do?

You have to be specific.

Right on, I can definitely agree with (most of that). We need for Ochocinco to have a substantial impact on the field, and he will.

Really, I said that? Point out ANYWHERE where I said my point was more valid then anyone elses. In fact, I'm certain it's not. Don't misrepresent what I said......... The point I made (which had nothing to due with paid vs. non-paid membership) has already be made. At this point, your just misrepresenting something that was discussed hours ago.

On another note..... your a long-time member here....... It's an awesome site ain't it?..... I know times are tough and all, but when you get a chance...... check out THIS THREAD... It's good reading.
