10 OL because of the uncertainty surrounding Cannon. Came at the expense of another CB (probably Malcolm Williams?).

Went with the assumption Faulk, Cannon, Ellis, Brace and Deaderick were headed for Injured/PUP/Reserve List(s)

Yeatman Vs. Smith - More impressed with Yeatman. I don't necessarily think just because you were drafted guarantees you a spot over an UDFA.

Tate Vs. Price Vs. Slater - The 6th WR sees pretty much no playing time therefore believe the spot should be used as a hybrid role and a great ST in Slater wins out and I believe Price > Tate.

Vereen seems injured so I included Sammy Morris in his spot. (Meaning Vereen to PUP/IR)

If they do, then that opens up a couple more spots on the end of the roster. In the mean time, though, I'm not going to assume anything. My guess would be Malcolm Williams, Sergio Brown, and Kyle Love?

Oh, Sergio Brown will make the 53 man roster, no doubt. (not to sound cokcy)

I believe that 'your' roster only having 3 safeties is at least one short. We definitely need 4, especially due to big nickel situations and depth etc. Brown has been playing with the 1's (which I know the first instinct is to say "who else is left," but I feel it's at least a sign of him making the roster). When you think about it, he did just fine in a limited rookie role last yr, is cheap, and I honestly believe they will give him a much longer extened look this yr. He does have experience in our system, and is currently the best bet for the 4th safety spot. I was kind of surprised that you left him out. I was even more surprised that you only had 3 safeties.

It seems likely that Faulk, Ellis and Cannon will start the season on the PUP or NFI lists.

So Belichick went out and gave some pretty serious money to someone who he knew would be inactive for approximately 1/2 the season (give or take a game)? That seems awfully weird. I agree that most signs point to Faulk and Cannon, but what signs/data do you have that point to Ellis? From what I understood, BB expected his absence for most of camp. Hasn't Belichick been known to allow the hard core vets a bit of a pass regarding TC when they are knicked up? Obviously a guy like Ellis has a pretty good understanding of his job/duties, and is probably in good enough shape to do what is asked of him. I have the same assessment of Haynesworth.

I wouldn't read anything at all into the TC absence of Haynesworth or Elllis at this point. Both are a little dinged up, and BB is likely giving them time to heal up and be ready for the long season. I fully expect Ellis to make the 53 man roster, at least until we have some significant proof that states otherwise. There's too much money that they gave to Ellis, and I suspect that they did their due diligence on his injury/surgery recovery situation. I can't see how a guy like Belichick would give someone THAT much money, and then suddenly be surprised that they need to heal...plus we're also talking about a guy that kept a spot open for what? 8 weeks for Mike Wright?

Even if Ellis misses 2 games (which would make him out for almost 6 more weeks), he'll be on the 53 man roster. Hell, he could miss almost 8 more weeks (extremely unlikely in my opinion) and still only miss a few opening games. Something like that is WAY more likely in my opinion, especially if we're considering an absolute worst case scenario.

How do you not bring up guys like Dowling or Vareen, who are even more unknowns, especially due to their being rookies etc? If anything, our positions where they play are deep enough where stashing them on PUP wouldn't even be slightly detrimental to their development, as there is almost a full guarantee that someone on the 53 man roster goes down to injury--thus freeing up a spot for them. For all we know, either or both of Vareen/Dowling could very well be PUP candidates too. In Ellis' case, they KNEW what they were getting, and had to have had a decent feel for his surgical recovery time. I don't think BB is afraid of keeping a spot open for him if he needs another month/6 weeks of recovery time. For all we know, he'll be back in 2 weeks. He's old, experienced, and needs rest/healing time to be able to go the distance in the long season/post season. I think Haynesworth is in a very similar situation, as noted.

I'd say Darryl Richard and Sergio Brown were the hardest cuts for me. Having this many folks on the PUP is kind of like cheating, and also I'm not sure if Dowling is eligible for it. Wilhite is gone. Yeatman may beat out Smith. If Dowling can't be PUP'd then I would say Pryor is gone.

Belichick will keep more than 7 in the secondary plus a special teamer.
