We all know this is bullcrap or he would have said something when the story first came out. They must have realized they are not going to see a cent.

Mankins' agent: Never made money demand
July, 21, 2011
By ESPNBoston.com

Frank Bauer, agent for Logan Mankins, made the following statement to ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen:

"I think it’s really unfair what has happened to Logan Mankins in media characterizations that he is making monetary demands or holding up a settlement. Logan Mankins is a young man who was encouraged and solicited into a lawsuit to help the union spearhead a new agreement. Logan’s main concern for entering into as a plaintiff was to see if he can become free and help other players have less restrictions. For people to say he has made monetary demands, he hasn’t made any such demand. We don’t know terms. We haven’t talked to Jeff Kessler. There has been no communication but it’s irresponsible to report Logan has made monetary demands.

"Are we disappointed there has been no communication? Hugely. He trusted the union and Kessler to fight for Logan Mankins and the other players."

Bauer also conceded that Mankins could reserve the option of continuing his antitrust case against the NFL.

Seems like everybody is out to screw poor old Logan.

Some writers now thinking that Mankins and his agent got played by Kessler.

Mankins may never have asked for a single thing. It is very possible that Kessler played Mankins and his agent to use them to derail the process.

There was definitely evidence that someone requested special treatment for Mankins, Jackson, and others. But it may never have come from the individual players.

I truly believe that the players' side did ask for these considerations. I can't believe that the players would let them do this without their blessing, but stranger things have happened.

throw those bum lawyers out....

They are useless now...except to cause more trouble.....

Just saw Breer on NFLN saying basically he never said Mankins and Jackson were requesting this money, that the request was being made on their behalf. Mmm, his tweet earlier seemed to me to say the players themselves were making the request:

"As I just said on NFLN, Jackson & Mankins are, for now, holding to their request for $10M to settle. 1 of a number of plaintiff issues."

Breer was doing some serious backpedaling, talking about what a great genuine guy Mankins is and in no way is he trying to make him the bad guy.

I think lots of people are backpedaling on that story, Borges should be also, but he's so stubborn, you know he won't.

I just wish that these football gurus would get their stories straight.....

Don't they have a degree in journalism...or are they ALL hacks looking to make a name?

Even if the players wanted these demands to go through, the request was going to come through the lawyers anyway. That way they protect their client from the fallout. With this thing blowing up in the players' side's face, it is better for Frank Bauer or Jeffrey Kessler to take the hit than a players.

Mankins could easily been an innocent victim in this, but he might also be actively involved in everything he was credited to. I do have to say though Bauer does pour it on in his "woe is us" victim talk.

They are all hacks looking to make a name. I swear, I hate 'em all. They talk about integrity, equity, blah, blah, blah...with the exception of a few, talk about hypocrisy!

The one thing that CAN'T be explained away by Mankins is the fact that all he had to do in the last 36 hours is to release a statement indicating that he DID NOT ask for any exceptional benefits beyond what any other player gets from this agreement. His silence on the matter is DEAFENING. Mankins knows enough English to libel Bob Kraft and whine to selective reporters, he should know enough English to end the speculation....OR be man enough to own up to it. Any man of so called "principle" should be willing to do one or the other Instead it seems to me at least, that Mankins is HIDING behind some kind of "plausible deniability" So when it all plays out he can, after the fact claim he didn't do anything. \

Logan, you claim to be a man of great principle. Well now is the time to sh!t or get off the pot. Is Kessler using you for his own agenda or are you complicit in this selfish extortion attempt. Its time to step up to the plate,...actually is PAST time

RT @Aaron_Nagler: Mankins' agent saying "We haven't talked to Jeff Kessler" really tells you all you need to know.

If they heard these reports and are saying they didn't ask for anything then why didn't they tell Kessler to stop making demands on their behalf?

You mean like what his agent said today?

Mankins agent: No money demanded in settlement

"For people to say he has made monetary demands, he hasn't made any such demand," Bauer said. "We don't know terms. We haven't talked to (NFLPA attorney) Jeff Kessler. There has been no communication, but it's irresponsible to report Logan has made monetary demands.

Interesting choice of words. It almost implies that there were demands other than monetary demands.

Thats what I thought as well until he said that they haven't talked to Jeff Kessler. Either way though who knows who is lying?

Well seeing that Logan's agent said, "Logan’s main concern for entering into as a plaintiff was to see if he can become free and help other players have less restrictions." I'd say yes he had and maybe still has other demands or interests. He wants to be a UFA, not a franchised player.

Email..either way it smells funny.

Exactly....In this electronic age, how many people actually TALK...text message...tweets...emails.....

parsing words ...between agents and lawyers...we never talked....

RIGHTTTTTTTTTTTTTT :bricks:

First I want to hear it from his own lips, not through some representative who has been known to use a little hyperbole in the past.

Also his agent DIDN'T say that his client didn't demand to be made a FA by this deal. He DIDN'T say his client DIDN'T threaten to hold up the deal by threatening to continue litigation if his demands weren't met In fact at the end of his statement his agent didn't preclude Mankins pursuing this further in the courts

Mankins may ore may not have made demands. All he has to do to defuse this, is by coming out and making a statement on his own.
