he is past his time. He is very injury prone. I rather groom a rookie w/ a cheaper price tag than an injured diva who will eat cap space. No thank you.

Must.....sign....all.......big.....name....players....to......huge......contracts. Can we still get Merriman? Reggie Bush will shine in NE!!!!!!!!! McNabb will teach Brady how to be professional. Plax will stretch the field. Krafty is shopping....cue the duckboats....$200K champagne is on the way........Who needs rings, Brady designing solid gold manpurses for his "guys."

Good to see the poll is trending for the No's. Jenkins is old, expensive, hurt and a Jet. The worst of all possible worlds.

Why would you expect him to be expensive?

I am not sure. Kris Jenkins made $2.25 million last season and was slated to get $5M. He can probably get between $2 and $2.5 million from somebody who needs help up front. Experienced D-Linemen command decent money as free agents - especially NTs. Maybe I'm wrong about that given his age. How much do you think the Pats would pay him if he made the team?

Given that he's left his knees on the field in the past 2 seasons, and only played 7 games during that time, I'd expect an incentive laden contract with a low base salary.

He's had an interesting career. 3 complete seasons, followed by 2 seasons lost early (5 games total), followed by 3 complete seasons, followed by his past 2 seasons (7 games total).

That suggests three great years ahead for Jenkins. He's a three time pro-bowler and been a winner everywhere he's been. If the price is right, bringing him in could be a good move. I still like the idea of making a major run at Mathias Kiwanuka if his neck is surgically repaired. He's the right combination of OLB and DE with speed and a nose for the QB.

Ngata is overrated. Over his last 3 years, here are his pressure totals (sacks+hits+hurries):

20
15.5
31.5

Care to guess which one of those was in his contract year? Assuming that he gets his big contract this season, he's going right back to relative sloth mode.

Kirwan's take on Ngata:

Haloti Ngata, Ravens: Might be the second-best interior defensive lineman in the NFL after Suh. Ngata is an absolute force against the run and is improving as a pass rusher. He runs like a guy half his size and the Ravens move him all over their defensive front.

Ngata is clearly respected by his peers and has been an exceptional player in his time in the NFL, where you come up with the idea that he is a "sloth" is beyond me as i have never heard anyone ever suggest anything like that.

The word "relative" is important. He was taking plays off all the time in 08 and 09. I thought it showed in his run defense, but you can't give a number for that (unless you're PFF, of course:lol2. But the pressure numbers show it too. It's not like he's gotten stronger or more athletic since 08, he just finally started trying on every play. After he gets his big contract, he can go back to being a 20 pressure guy, rather than a 30 pressure guy, because he'll still show enough flashes of greatness to make people forget about the plays where he looks more like Dan Klecko than a 2-time Pro Bowler. He's got all the talent in the world, but he sure doesn't have Wilfork's motor.

Vince LOVES football...one of the traits BB looks for when prospecting draft picks...I believe he rates that ahead of athleticism....:rocker:

Basically what you are saying is that he has fooled his peers and guys like kirwan with some explosive plays but you see through it and using very PFF like stats declare him to be a sloth. What I have seen of Ngata and what his peers and most who watch football see is one of the most dominant players in football at his position, and i'm still not seeing where you come up with "sloth?"

Saying you can't see using two firsts on him makes plenty of sense, saying he sucks doesn't.
