Bust watch

Every draft have bust candidates. Some of the bust candidates turn out to be booms and some of the booms turn out to be bust. That's why they are called prospects.

BTW Clayborn did not lift at the Combine; that is telling me that the right arm is still a problem. However he did post the best 20 yard shuttle. He is an intriguing prospect but difficult to say where he will go. What do you do with a one-armed beast? I would hate to see him go to the Jets...

You keep referring to him as 1 armed like he is handicapped by his condition? Did you watch any Iowa games? He has full use of both arms and displays the most violent hands of "anyone" in this draft.

He was a wrecking machine the previous season and now after having a sub par season his work ethic and heart are in question by a lot of teams. And rightly so. I'm still trying to figure it out because from what little I saw of Iowa this season he should of been getting a lot of single coverage with Ballard and Klug emerging. He should of been creating havoc back there. Instead he was a giant disappointment. Where was the heart and determination? The Iowa defense was fantastic, but it seemed like it was a combination of many players doing their job and a good coach. Certainly not Clayborn dominating.

Klug was Honorable Mention All-Big-10 as a junior, so he emerged in Clayborn's "good year," though junior Mike Daniels subbing in for Klug and Ballard began putting it all together this year and was a terror, especially when he and Klug where in together. Ballard's emergence is more an awareness of his athleticism by fans, not so much that he drew any extra attention away from Clayborn.

Proven? Where? I'll bet if you reviewed all the many Big WR flops...you would find that a lot did not run at the Combine. It is a red flag for me; he better have a really good reason for not running ... not some lame ass excuse about not being used to the track and would run at his pro day. That does not cut it; will he only be able to play at home? No there is something wrong if he is healthy and does not run at the Combine.

As for Clayborn the the problem is visible at practice and he is only able to play on one side of the line.

What's going on here; does everything I say have a big target on it?

It was proven in the thread you started. That running at the combine didn't make a difference one way or the other.

Where do you get that Clayborn is only able to play one side of the line?

He may not have lifted at the Combine, but did so at his Pro-Day. Only a moron would automatically assume that the arm was a problem without bothering to try and find out more about the situation.

As for you having a "target" on the things you say, when you spout off and make statements that are easily refuted by fact, you should expect to be corrected.

Well PLAYED, Brother Bruinz.

Maybe it is because I say things that people don't want to hear such as calling Ron Brace a big cheeseburger or saying that Dez Bryant was the last guy the Patriots would draft. I am usually right; Brace did turn out to be a big cheeseburger (but he is improving) and the Patriots passed on Dez (twice I think). I was also raving about Gronk and McCourty when they were drafted....

Anyway there has to be a reason that someone does not run at the Combine and unless there is a medical situation the reason cannot be good. But there is no reason to fight about it; let's see who does better in the pros A. J. Green or Julio Jones. My money is on Jones...

Various sources have said that Clayborn can only play on one side of the line....don't get me wrong; he would make a great player for the Patriots. I have seen him play and he is a wrecking ball; the problem is that it seems almost impossible for us amateur draftnics to project where he will go because of the medical questions...

Umm... You've been more wrong than right.. And most people knew that the Pats weren't take Dez Bryant.

Most people knew that Ron Brace was a project.

As for Clayborn, do you have any links????

Ha! I love 20-20 hindsight. I was skinned alive for calling Brace a disaster the first year (but I have...ah...softened on him since then).

As far as Dez most draftnics were throwing hard objects at their TV when the Patriots passed on him while I said right from the start that he was not even on the Patriots board.

Anyway there is no point in fighting about this. Let's see how A. J. Green does compared to Julio Jones. Of course this is a small sample size...

I am not a big WR guy but sometimes I noticed things such as when I was watching Matt Stafford and noticed that his WR Mohamed Massaqui and started raving about him. Not sure who he did in the pros but he looked pretty good in college and seemed like a Patriots type of player. This year I was impressed with the guys that Colin Kaepernick was throwing to (and not impressed with Stanzi's WRs).

Like I have been trying to say...trying to project where Clayborn will be drafted is remarkably hard. If I had to guess I suspect that he will be over-analyzed and end up dropping out of the first and maybe further. Teams that have the normal (or less) complement of picks are adverse to taking a medical risk unless the owners are gunslingers...

Stafford played at Georgia.

Massaquoi, Michigan.

I want to say for the record that I was one of those Dez homies. I was wrong. You were right, Fred.

We were both right about cartoon-watching Ron Brace.

Iowa's Clayborn has Pittsburgh Steelers' nastiness written all over him. I would love to get him. I suspect the questions will push him into the top of the second round. He'll be like Brady and play with something to prove.

If Dr. Frankenstein could only put his heart into Heyward's body. There's our new Richard Seymour.

Clayborn by overcoming so much, is obviously a good character guy. That Iowa defensive line was special. It has been the past few years. Second only to Alabama's, IMO.

If we are going to make this the official "I was right", then I think that we should see all the posts of the person picking players.

If a monkey throws 100 darts on a board, he could hit a couple of bulls eyes, but 98 won't even hit the board.

I don't see a prediction from fred on this thread,

Not just picking on Fred, but if you are going to say "I'm right", provide something to back it up.

I have made mistakes also. My worst was Larry Fitzgerald. Based on 30 seconds of highlights on ESPN in which he was covered and still made the catch I thought he could not get open. Ha! He must have been playing against some Pro-Bowl caliber CB on that play...wish I knew who that was (DeAngelo Hall?).

And I am about to make my old fashion Patriots picks and...well I am pretty sure they will all be wrong. One right if I am super lucky...

Thank you for uncrossing my eyes! My world view went all Warhol for a moment.

Dated a girl from Massaquoi, Michigan at one time. Her eyes were crossed, too. Obviously, since she thought I was particularly handsome.

I am about to do a post on the Olde-Tyme Pats Fan Draft Contest. I will get killed; BB has a way of blowing me out of the water. Logan who?

It would be a lot easier to say who the Patriots will not take......Nick Fairly to start with...
