Re: KU Pro Day...

Thanks BOX, forgot to add it.

Does anyone have any confirmation about a Cecil Shorts workout.... have a tip, but haven't seen it confirmed.
I have a vague recollection he was interviewed at the Combine, but don't hold me to it.

Re: Another small school prospect...

I sure am hoping one of these small school prospects makes the Pats roster, as the Pats have been closely scouting them:

Cecil Shorts (6-0/205), a receiver at Division 3 Mount Union College, will meet with the Patriots this month according to a source close to the situation. Shorts recently ran a 4.35 at his Pro Day, after racking up some amazing numbers. Shorts scored over 21 touchdowns last year, 17 through the air.

It would seem that the Pats are working out a lot more guys from the smaller schools than normal. Particularly at WR and Safety.

Seems about the norm to me, perhaps the concentration of them being reported makes it appear greater than prior drafts.

Out of character for them isn't it? They must see the safety class as weak and realize they are going to have to find their diamond in the rough somewhere else.

I'm kind of enjoying it actually. Some of the numbers these small school kids are putting up there are extrodinary. I would love to see the Pats take a chance on one of these kids that have good football instincts with the flashy numbers and see if they can mold them into a super star. Those are the kind of players fans instantly associate with.

Recently, it’s been reported by various media outlets that the Patriots have either scheduled or completed one-on-one sessions with Texas Christian QB Andy Dalton, Maryland WR Torrey Smith, Virginia Tech RB Ryan Williams, and Florida OL Mike Pouncey.

This would lend further credence to the general consensus that the S crop is weak at the top and that after AJ Green and J.Jones the WR class is all bunced together there in the middle.

Seems like the Pats will probably lean DL, OLB and OL early unless someone unexpectedly falls into their lap.

2011 Pro Days: 3/16 Attendance
5:55 PM ET - The Jaguars were one of nine teams that attended the Kansas Pro Day today according to KUAthletics.com. The other teams in attendance were the Falcons, Panthers, Cowboys, Packers, Chiefs, Patriots, Saints and Eagles.

It’s doubtful any Jayhawks get drafted this year, although center Brad Thorson could be a priority free agent.

4:05 PM ET - A video posted GOPSF.com shows that Jaguars regional scout, Brian Simmons, was in attendance at the Penn State Pro Day. Other teams shown in the video include the Browns, Rams, Colts, Steelers, Texans, Patriots, Packers, Bills, Giants, Eagles and Cowboys.

2011 Pro Days: 3/15 Attendance
10:45 PM ET – WVFM reports that there were five teams in attendance at the Western Michigan Pro Day, but the Jaguars were not one of them. The Patriots, Panthers, Packers, Browns and Cardinals were the teams there at the WMU Pro Day.

Re: RB for din din...

Connecticut running back Jordan Todman is scheduled to meet and have dinner with the New England Patriots next Wednesday, according to an NFL source with knowledge of the situation.

The Big East Conference Offensive Player of the Year had a strong NFL scouting combine, running the 40-yard dash in 4.40 seconds with a 38-inch vertical leap and a 10-06 broad jump.

The 5-foot-9, 203-pounder also posted a 4.18 20-yard shuttle and a 7.24 three-cone drill.

6'4 and runs a 4.45 40? Color me a little intrigued with Holmes' size/speed combo. Anyone know his 10 yard split and 3 cone? Pats put pretty high emphasis on those numbers with their pattern of drafting WRs over the years.

Ok so I found some numbers off Steeler Depot:
Official combine #s: 4.53 40, 6.69 3 cone, 35" vert, 10'10 broad jump. A true 6'4.3 inches tall with 34 inch arms. His hands are smaller than average at 8 5/8 but I'm not sure if that hurts or helps.

Wow, for the most part he's definitely a physical speciman. Now how is he at creating separation, running routes, catching the football, and understanding complex timing, option routes and reads? That's really what would dictate his success in our offense. If he had Branch's brain, he could be a star in our system.

Well this scouting report has him pegged as a 7th rounder. Hmm.
Andre Holmes, WR, Hillsdale
