Brady blamed for Playoff loss to Jets

I've been a fan since 1976 and grew up in the shadow of the stadium, near Walpole. I get so worked up for the games that the depression is too much when they fail...I expected SB or bust this year, and bust it is. In some ways it was easier rooting for teams in the bad years, you didn't expect much from them.

You apparently weren't expecting a SB in November after the Browns loss when you started a PS worthy thread about alternative teams to root for...

i'll still be a pats fan, but it's hard to emotionally commit to a team which will disappoint you like that. Feel like i've been cheated on. I'm going to have to put them on the back burner for a while, lest I get heartbroken. I can't stand being heartbroken.

So who else to root for? I don't like the steelers, colts, chargers, jets (hate the fans, team is ok)...maybe the raiders, they are plucky. Or the eagles. hate the giants too.

This team isn't your problem. Look in the mirror if you want to see who is. You behave like an emotionally imbalanced and severely spoiled child who can't rationally deal with real life which occasional disappointments are universally part of. Nobody's team wins all the time. Yours (supposedly) has won more than most for over a decade now. And yet you attempt to portray being a fan of that as some sort of unbearable torture because among other things if they don't win all the time or win it all some idiots this teame prior wins had apparently empowered you to lord over dish it back when they don't and you can't take payback. Please tell me you haven't yet reproduced. And get some counseling before you even contemplate it.

Do you disagree? He played a horrible game.

There was plenty of blame to go around (can you say Alge Stonehands Crumpler?), but I think most of it lies with Brady.

He picked the worst day of the year to play his worst game of the year, underthrowing, overthrowing, and just generally out of synch.

You gotta give the Jets some credit there. They kept the heat on him all day. Ryan had a strong defensive game plan.

It could have been worse. He could have saved the "his worst game of the
year, underthrowing, overthrowing, and just generally out of synch" for
another SB. I give the Jets a lot of credit and the Pats none. The Pats
lost to a very beatable Jets team. Or even worse, they could have lost to
the despicable Steelers at home! That's almost worse than losing in the SB
(equally as bad and if the Jets hadn't won their SB the week prior, they
might have blown out the Steelers.)

The Pack were the best team in football this season and I honestly don't think the Patriots would have beaten them in the SB. Not that they didn't have a chance, as i'd put it about 60-40 GB, but I still see GB as the more complete team for this season. I do think NE would have beaten the Steelers had they gotten past the Jets, as they own them, but I think we would have been looking at a SB disappointment had that scenario played out.

The Patriots took big steps in the right direction this season, and rather than pissing and moaning about them Patriot fans should take heart in that and look forward to next season, whenever that is. They are in good cap shape, excellent draft shape, and are strong already in all phases of the game. Not that there isn't work to do, as they need more development of their current players and need more impact players to get over the top imo. All are within their grasp if they make the right decisions, and their track record in that regard is solid.

They were in very good position THIS YEAR. Why did Brady choke? I don't want to waste another year rooting for this team if they're just going to fall apart in the playoffs. It's too heart wrenching.

All we can really ever ask of a team (if we're sane and reasonable people, anyway) is that every year they give us a shot at the brass ring. It is completely, utterly, fantastically, unreasonable to expect that they'll always win it, or that they'll always win it when they are in ideal position to do so. The Steelers have won more Super Bowls than any other franchise. Yet in 2001 and 2004 they had the best record in the league and had home field advantage in the playoffs.......and didn't even get out of the AFC. The Colts have had the #1 seed and failed to advance. The great 49er teams have had, between SB titles, the #1 seed and have failed to win it all. The Bills went to the SB four freaking times in a row but couldn't pull it off. Even great teams in perfect position to win it all don't always win it.

The Patriots, since 2001, have given this fan base more success and enjoyment than any other fan base in the NFL, bar none. And, from the look of it, they'll continue to do so for the next 5+ years. That's a 15+ year period of nearly unparalleled success *IN THE HISTORY OF THE SPORT*.

I mean, yeah, we'd all love another SB title or two, but geez.....they're still in the midst of one of the greatest success stories in league history and you're unhappy?

Right on the money. Bizarre imo that people are 'suffering" through the greatest run of football success we will ever likely see. It's like 49er fans who "suffered" through the Walsh/Montana years. Poor things, winning so much truly sucks.

Totally uncalled for, sanctimonious and wrong to boot. I've experienced lots of death, loss and disappointment in life. I don't want to go all in on a team if the QB completely chokes sometimes (in big games)...I was a big fan of brady but he seems to have lost it.

Brady hasnt lost anything IMO

The exodus of so many great defensive players and leaders and the callous play of the OL are reasons for you to consider.

Brady does not play defense,Brady does not block DL and pass rushing LBs

Brady is ONE man of 53

If all 53 players played with the will and intensity that Brady plays with, we would be 19-0 every year.

Brady is ONE player...can't do it all

So you only root for the tean when they're winning and playing well? The other poster is right, your not a fan.

I know this is a slow time of the year and all, but

:trolls:

Then please....Go root for whoever you feel is successful at that point in time.

You understand you sound ungrateful, and spoiled, right?

I am rather shocked that this thread has gained so much traction. The "Brady's lost it!"crowd need to take a step back and realize just how fortunate we Patriots fans are to have such a competitive, well-run NFL franchise over the past decade. It bespeaks just how successful a decade it has been when those fans spew such spurious criticism when the team does not win the Super Bowl every year.

The "Brady's lost it" crowd are apparently ignoring the fact that he was undisputably the best player in football this year.

Time to go to Lions messageboard and see how many want to get rid of Suh before his value diminishes. He's got nowhere to go but downhill.

I believe this is known to some here as "Over The Top Homerism."

I'll concede Brady had a poor outing against the Jets, but to say he's "lost it" is a joke. He just became the first unanimous MVP the league has ever seen. This team is not stacked the way it was in 2003-2004 or 2007-2008. If you take him off this team, it's probably below mediocre.

Without Brady the Pats at this point would certainly be picking in the top 10 every year...he himself is probably good for several wins alone, even if the defense is stinking up the joint.

Yeah,We all knew what Cassell did when he started at QB but we forget that it was a team coming off a 18-1 season...Cassell today with less to work with, especially on the defensive side, would not go 11-5,I all but assure you

broadway Tom got called out by the opposing coach a week before the game and we all know how he responded, or failed to respond. He was unprepared and it showed. people are angry. Its a double edged sword because we are now holding him to the high standard he set and has failed to uphold the past few years.
Theres no other qb / coach combo i'd rather have but pretty boy and Bill deserve the criticism. Brady's window is closing and i am afraid of what is on the other side.

The fact that you refer to him as "pretty boy" shows that you are attracted to him. Amazing how jets fans fixate on his appearance.

"Broadway Tom" and "pretty boy?" Jesus, are you a middle-schooler, or what?
