Because she IS a minor. A minor is anyone under 21. But, she apparently is "legal" in terms of the age of consent. The next question is, did Sancheese give her alcohol, for which he could be charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. What an idiot.

Hell, if he gave a minor alcohol, he should be suspended the first 6 games of the season like Roethlisberger was. Maybe with good behavior he could also knock it down to 4.

Yeah, basically true. Minor age in New York is actually 18, not 21, but point taken. She is a minor but has reached the New York age of consent (17) if that is where she lives. So it must be the alcohol that is causing the legal case. He barely squeaked out of the age of consent issue, it would seem.

The Jets not commenting about one of their players allegedly having perfectly legal sex is a non story.


Now, if you want to use Sanchez as a jumping off point for discussions about the age of consent, rather than just focusing on the Sanchez (non-story) portion, that's a different issue. That would also take the thread to the political forum.

The only reason why it's a story is because he's a public figure in a high profile city playing for a sports team full of controversy. 24/17 is not a big deal or even newsworthy. A real story is the Italian prime minister, in his 70s having sex with 17 year olds.
