Pittsburgh is a "Real football team"

Message: Unlike IND and NE

Memo to Rex: three yards and a cloud of dust and the single wing is about as current as waiting for a horse-drawn carriage to arrive with block ice for your ice box as opposed to the concept of plugging a refrigerator into an electric outlet.

I guess Montana's 49ers, Aikman's Cowboys, Unitas' Colts, and Graham's Browns were all not real football teams either.

The sad thing is that Ryan will get up on the podium and spin this as a positive for the Jets, and the media and fans will buy it. Which is such a crock of **** because five months ago they were the paper champions. Meanwhile a team that was supposed to be 8-8 or 9-7 get chastised for losing in the second round of the playoffs.

Ryan should be a spin doctor for one of the two political parties with the way he is able to sway public opinion.

Even after they lose it doesn't stop with this guy and this team. They spin a loss into a rant against the Pats. Unbelievable.

How many more AFC Championship games does this clown have to lose before he is gone?

Rex is right.Cheap shot but he is right.

Best way to win in the playoffs is with D. Not arena ball.

Finesse teams are now home for February

Look at the two remaining teams to see what we need to get to the SB again

A hard nosed tough hitting defense,a pounding running game and doing what you have to when you have the home advantage.

We need to get away from the Pansy finesse team attitude...more defense is needed, you can't win with just a pretty offense anymore.

I disagree. The Pats D played plenty tough in some of their games, I remember a few where they were seriously laying the wood and the opponents basically gave up.

What this D needed, and gained to an extent, was experience and learning what it takes to win in the league. With their weaknesses addressed in the Draft, they'll be much closer next year.

FO Rex. I didn't watch one second of the game but I am so glad of the outcome. Go Packers.

I know buffalo lost consecutive SBs but has there ever been an AFC team to get to the AFC championship 3 years in a row?...that's what the Jets are up against

can't remember any

buffalo won 4 afc championships in a row. that's pretty amazing.

That REAL football team will lose to the Packers.
Aaron Rodgers in a dome against that secondary??

Rex has a lot of seething hate inside of him for a man that's touted as a jolly old, fun loving guy. Miserable, envious and jealous more like it, a-hole

Totally spot on, agree 100%. I'm surprised more people haven't noticed this. They will eventually. That unsolicited outburst yesterday about "you can criticize us if you want, BUT YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO" ... quite revealing.

Shouldn't be surprised. We became the Colts and guess what? Got the same result. Need another draft and some tough FAs to transition back to the hard scrapping early 2000s Patriot culture, if we can.

I hate the guy but Rex is absolutely correct. IND and NE are fake soft finesse teams that always embarrass themselves in the playoffs.

While I agree with getting out of the finesse mode, please don't post tripe about both teams in the SB having a "pounding running game"...the GB ground game is terrible...the GB offense if more pass oriented than we are....they just have better WR's to do it.

I like our D and hope it will improve.
A "real football team" is more than just a tough D.

Featuring Danny Woodhead last week was very bad.
The Pats basically told the Jets our only hope is to get a 20-30yd run once in a while.

Rex said nothing wrong.

GB is averaging well over 100 yrds rushing per game this postseason so far.

Rex said nothing wrong? Calling teams "real football teams" is one of the stupidest things I've heard. Win some big games, and then tells us you know what wins big football games.

Were the Colts a real football team when they beat the Jets last year? Answer that.

Why would the Packers not be considered a "finesse" team? How is that defined?

Rushing
NE - 454 att, 1973 yds, 4.3 avg
GB - 421 att, 1606 yds, 3.8 avg

Passing
NE - 507 att, 3847 yds, 7.9 ypa
GB - 541 att, 4124 yds, 8.1 ypa

Generally, when people think of "physical" football teams, they think of dominating running games, while "finesse" teams pass more. Well, the above stats show that the Packers passed more than the Patriots did, while the Pats ran more and by far more effectively.

What about defensively? Again, seems like physical teams do a better job stopping the run while finesse teams defend the pass.

Defense vs. Rushing
NE - 409 att, 1728 yds, 4.2 avg
GB - 395 att, 1838 yds, 4.7 avg

Defense vs. Passing
GB - 527 att, 56.2%, 3107 yds, 67.2 rating
NE - 611 att, 63.5%, 4136 yds, 81.2 rating

Again, the Pats were significantly better against the run than the Packers were, while the Pats were better against the pass.

So unless someone can just use the old "eye test" and "see" that the Packers are more "physical" while the Pats are a "finesse" team, the general way that people evaluate these things gives a significant edge to the Pats.

He be hatin on our system

Did anyone actually Rex say this in context?

He was just complimenting Pittsburgh. He wasn't saying anying about Indy or NE, or even alluding to it. It's a massive, massive stretch to even think he had Indy or NE on his mind at all when he said that.

Actually, I think he even said that the three game stretch of Indy, NE and Pitt was the toughest three game stretch anyone could play. So that was definitely a compliment. But we can't let reality get in the way of a good lynching.
