Well, there's been no official confirmation that he is on today's waiver wire, at least none that I've seen.
But once he is on the wire, teams will have 24 hours to fax a claim to the league office. If there are zero claims after 24 hours, he becomes an UFA. If there is one claim after 24 hours, he goes to that team. If there are multiple claims, the team with the worst record of the claiming teams (with ties broken by SOS) is awarded the remainder of his contract.
There will be multiple claims on Randy Moss. If he were a player with a multiple year contract left, it might be an issue. But a cost-controlled 8-game rental of a hall of famer is not going to slip through waivers.
Doesn't anyone think it is weird that there is still no official waiving from the waiving that hit the press 2 days ago?
He was offically waived at 4pm today.
That's when the League will announce it.
The Bills could announce they've claimed him anytime and that would be that...
I dont get why a losing team would claim Moss.I can see a winning team claiming Moss.Teams like Cincinnati, san francisco, dallas, carolina, etc doesnt make any sense.Even the bills.
I don't think there is any way in hell the Pats claim Moss.. i don't think they would sign him IF he cleared waivers either. They just traded him away. I just don't see them doing this unless they could trade him back to the Vikings or Raiders for yet another pick!
So what?
Absolutely no question if Randy comes back to NE this week he will be the "good Randy." Absolutely no question at some point he will turn back into "bad Randy." Only question is how long do we get "good Randy".
Don't sign him to an extention, just have him play under his old contract. End of the season offer him a one year deal. If that works out sign him to another one year deal. When he starts to turn into "bad Randy" cut him or trade him for another pick (assuming BB can find someone else as stupid as Brad.) If he walks at the end of a season we get a comp pick. Where's the down side?
Essentially it is reverse order of the current NFL standings - in other words the same way the order for the draft is determined. Pats currently have the best record so they would be last; Buffalo has the NFL's worst record they pick first.
Edit: not sure about tiebreakers, but waiver order would pretty much be bottom to top from this list:

Didn't the Patriots trade Moss because he was becoming a disruptive influence in some sort of way?
Given the fact that he did something in Minnesota disruptive enough to get released just four weeks later, why does everybody think that the Patriots would want him back again? Is what he did in Minnesota proof that he's changed in any way, no actually just the opposite.
So, just thinking this through. The Pats received a 3rd round pick for him. If he goes through waivers unclaimed and signs here, the Vikings will have to pay his salary. When he leaves at the end of the year, the pats would get a comp. pick. Correct?
So in summary, we would get a 3rd round pick, a comp pick, a full season of Moss minus 4 games, and half of his salary for the year covered. No wonder teams hate us. :rocker:
