Moss post-game [mergedx3]

Re: Verbatim: Randy Moss

Randy's a good person with a good heart that has serious abandonment and trust issues. I'm not sure if it was possible for him to stay a Patriot as there were considerations on both sides -- which way he wanted his career to go, which way the Pats wanted to move -- but in a perfect world, he was always a Patriot. That's the saddest part. Hopefully he gets his ring. He deserves one. Hopefully he can retire as a Patriot. He is one.

Re: Verbatim: Randy Moss

A number of the posters on other Vikings boards don't blame Randy and want Chilly gone yesterday. I think the Vikings are a team that truly hate their coach. Does anyone think there is a chance that Randy gets cut because of this?

Hell no. Favre has done far worse then Moss ever did. Moss has every right to give congrats and praise to his former team. I was begging us to kick a field goal at the end of the first half because I remember us not getting any points against Miami and it came back to bite us that time too (oddly enough, got stuffed at the goal line to end that game. SMH)

Randy Moss is right. He has been great for the Vikings. Harvin is beastin it up and Moss is getting ignored. Gotta be kinda frustrating for him watching the offense run, run, and pass for every posession in the first half...

Re: Verbatim: Randy Moss

Did anyone notice that he was wearing a Boston hat during the PC?

Re: Verbatim: Randy Moss

Childress is one of the worst coaches I've seen. Even as they were going for it on fourth down, I said "what an absolutely terrible call. The Patriots' defense is built to stop this play." Lo and behold...

And that was also probably the most pointless challenge flag ever thrown. Moss is a smart guy who just spent 3 years with the best QB and the best head coach in the NFL. Why would he not be bummed about being stuck with Childress and Favre? I don't think him coming back to the Pats is out of the question. If he has a change of heart and decides that it's more important to be a Pat than to make a ton of money, that is, which I don't foresee happening.

And if he kicked a field goal he probably would have been called gutless. A TD would have been huge there along with them getting the ball back. The challenge was moronic, but I don't blame him for the 4th and 1, especially when you have Adrian Peterson. I expect Bill would have made the same decision, along with most coaches in the NFL.

re: Moss post-game(merged X3)

Some of you are serious ***** holes to Moss. It is a flat out lie that Moss was ever a hinderance to this team. The locker room still loves him, the organization still speaks highly of him and he himself just expressed an unbelievable amount of love for this team. I don't think he ever affected the morale of the team in any way other than positive.

I'd welcome him back with open arms any day.

re: Moss post-game(merged X3)

Damn, the Pats look good once you're on the Vikings again, right?

I dunno if Randy can be a role-player. That's what it's down to. In 07, it was pitch-and-catch. In 08, it was the make-Cassel-look-good project. In 09 the bloom started to come off the rose - and this year, he tripped up, and didn't go after what he wanted "The Patriots Way." That means for anybody except Tommy Boy, giving a great deal of credence to the front office's budgeting logic, and shutting the heck up even when you disagree with the coaching staff -- even the lowliest of the coaching staff. Can he do all that? Can he turn some attention to grooming his replacement? Can he be someone else's Cris Carter? Can he live with 10 TDs a year, when the opportunities arise? Can he - gasp - come off the bench to contribute, if called on to?

Those are the kinds of conditions that it would come down to for him to be part of "something special" in NE again, I really think.

Emotions are one thing. I have a lot of nice emotions for all those golden moments Moss gave us, and that feeling that we could strike for a TD any time, from anywhere on the field, especially that insane 2007 ride. He obviously knows NE was the high point of a career with a lot of high points in it. He grew into behaving like a leader, but reverted to type when things weren't as easy.

I would LOVE for the Pats to sign moss in '11 for decent but not crazy WR money, after he works harder in the off-season than anybody in the NFL. I would love for him to occupy Revis every play, and get his one catch to torch the Island every Jets game... hell, I'd love for him to have a renewed sense of purpose and come out better than before. Other wideouts have stayed effective into their late 30s. But he's not the superstar in his prime he was when we first signed him.

Can he get all that?

Don't really know. For now, he's a Viking. How much would it hurt to watch the Pats get ring #4 to round out 2001-2010?

re: Moss post-game(merged X3)

I like how ESPN doesn't mention anything about this PC aside from Moss saying he's not going to answer questions anymore. I thought that was the most uninteresting part of the PC. Guess ESPN thinks it is the most and only interesting part.

re: Moss post-game(merged X3)

Wow, gained some respect back for moss. I bet he is really regretting that trade now. I guess who knows what happened behide the scenes to cause this trade. But, deep down moss is a good guy.

I like this post. But the thing is, you never say bad things about a player once he is gone. We heard so many mixed things. Great things, terrible things. We heard it all, you can't know what to believe from the media or players not wanting to burn bridges.

But Moss looked beaten down and broken tonight. He wants to come home, you can see that without a doubt. I would welcome him back any day as well, and I'm glad that he got the ovation after the game ended (I don't blame anyone one bit for booing him during it, but respect after).

I highly doubt he'll come back, but I'm sure most of us said that about Branch and Patten (even though he never made it to the season).

It also must be really hard after being traded and seeing that NE hasn't lost a single game, and the vikings are 1-2(?) since and probably going to drop more than a few more as the season progresses. Reality check for him that he isn't bigger than any team. ...Except maybe Buffalo.

If it was such a love fest why did we part ways? Sorry just playing devil's advocate. I personally was sad to see Moss go. At the same time though I realized that it would be better with him gone as Brady wouldn't feel obliged to try and keep Moss happy and force the ball to him, and would go back to finding the open receiver.

This is how I see it. I want a humbled Moss back. One that doens't require attention to be happy. A Moss that will go out and work every play, be the decoy if thats the game plan. But then again, that isn't Randy Moss.

re: Moss post-game(merged X3)

I feel sorry for the dude for simply having to deal with that assclown Childress.

re: Moss post-game(merged X3)

Did none of you guys hear what was said during the game. It sounded like Moss was not looking to get traded at all contrary to what people were saying here. It appears it was a business decision made by the FO/Belichick knowing he was not going to get the money he wanted at the end of the year and getting compensation.

I too would love to see him back here next year or sooner. Its very clear that Welker is not having the same success since he left. Thats a lot of easy first downs gone.

Money, I suspect.

re: Moss post-game(merged X3)

I like Randy and I feel bad for him, but NE does not seem to be the place for such an emotional and seemingly tormented player. I hope he got a big cheer today. I told my dad to give him one from me.

re: Moss post-game(merged X3)

Is Randy wearing an all-black Red Sox cap in the interview??

Can't say I've ever seen a player wearing gear from the opposing team's city in a post-game presser before...

Bingo! Tell him what he's won Johnny.

What appears to be reality is A) Randy is a good guy B) Randy needs attention (not the media attention kind) C) Randy wears his heart on his sleeve. D) This PC and the week 1 PC alone say the Patriots are not the place for him.

Some people on this board simply cannot separate their emotion from cold hard decision making. You can't help but feel for Randy when seeing the PC but that feeling has no business being part of the decision making. The inappropriate nature of the PC is what should be part of the decision making process.
