Locker room seems unphased, unlike Seymour and Milloy incidents.. We all know there was something that triggered this move in midseason, we will never know what and why.. But the locker room i think is a lot stronger than last year which means better team efforts.. Lets hope it happens on sun against IMO the best team in the AFC....

One thing that is tell-tale about "Moss and the locker room" is the fact that his fellow players did not elect him captain this year, unlike last year.

What do you read into the Pats not re-electing Matt Light captain in '09 or '10?

Matt has not picked up the dining tab since 07'.

Or not re-electing Kevin Faulk in '08 and '09.

Re: the one thing that is positive from the Moss trade.

The positive I see for the offense sans Moss is that the Patriots can get back to the short passing game they have successfully used in their Superbowl years. It can chew up the clock and it's better for the team instead of just forcing passes down the field to Moss which lead to interceptions and 3 & outs. Guys, we might be seeing the old New England Patriots this year.

Re: the one thing that is positive from the Moss trade.

Brady and Moss had a special season in 2007, but the team got away from what won them championships... Deion Branch coming back makes it full circle that offense will be more a control type, then a run up the score... Brady will carry this team until the defense is up to snuff.. After feeling a bit of shock now, im back on board to the bill we trust... I understand it now... they may not be as good as the jets, ravens, or steelers, but i feel better that we will be competive..

That they think he's a human turnstile?

Or they hate his hair?

Re: the one thing that is positive from the Moss trade.

I stopped being a Viking fan when they traded him, I hated this trade when I first heard about it; but I'm watching the Viking game now and I don't feel like we lost much. He's getting zero seperation, can't block, and won't risk taking a hit across the middle.

He's still one of my favorite players ever, but aside from still having the best hands of all time, he doesn't seem to be much like the guy he was a season or two ago

He must've run a bad campaign.

I agree with most of this post except for the being as good as the Raven, Jets and Steelers part. To be honest I don't have a good feel on the Patriots or any of the teams mentioned. I do feel had Moss not suited up in the 2nd half of the Jets game we would of won going away. You saw the gameplan and it sucked as far as I'm concerned. Brady played with such arrogance trying to force it to Moss,it was surreal.

Baltimore? They look great, but except the one playoff game we have handled them well in the past, we took care of Cinci who in turn took care of Baltimore. I'd have to see the game next Sunday to know the anser. Pittsburgh, them too, we'll see. But for right now, you are right, they are the elite teams but imo have something to prove just like the Pats do.

I don't see it as the Patriots of old.

The Pat's always had a hammering RB. Antowain Smith and Dillon was a great bruising running backs. Morris is the closest thing we have to that and he's not on the same level of those two and he's 32 and seems somewhat fragile. I'd love to see at least a big fullback in the mix like a Le'ron McClain.

Defense! We had Law, Harrison, Washington, Seymour, McGinest and Samuel who are all upgrades from the current roster.

Special teams I'd give a slight edge to the 2001-2004 Pats.

Passing game. As much love I have for Troy Brown this WR and TE crew hands down is better with or without Moss.

Coaching was A LOT better back in 2001-2004.

I just don't see a valid comparison to the SB Pats to this Pats team. Yeah we lost our deep threat and replaced him with a more than competent WR but they are two VERY different teams with a lot different personnel.

It all makes sense, the locker room last year was bad... Thomas, Springs, Moss, Burgess, were all trying to influence the locker room.. The way the recievers were coming along, it was better to go away from Moss, dont have Brady be focused on him like the Jets game, bring a guy like Branch who could be a great locker room guy, and lets see what happens.. After a week im excited to see what this team can do, the defense is still shaky, but the offense I think will be fine... They may or may not go to the super bowl, but i want a division title and let the chips fall where they may...

Moss was a POSITIVE locker room influence. He was the one giving pre-game, halftime, and post-game pep talks as per Wes Welker. I don't understand why people continue to accuse Moss of being a bad influence in the locker room.

I doubt Branch was brought in for the locker room. Tate takes Moss' spot leaving Tate's spot vacant, Branch is a likely candidate to be able to contribute in that spot this season maybe as soon as next week.

let me a little more clearer... Moss prob was positive... but Brady and Belichcik prob are getting tired of feeding and massage the ego of Randy Moss.. The offense is evovling.. some one brought it up, Brady was too focused on Moss, and that might have cost them the jets game.. there are impresionable young men in that locker room, and Moss with his antics and his ego , might have started something down the line.. Would I love to see Moss here.. yes, but if it means not winning a championship, then lets move on and cherish 2007 for what it was a special season that came up short ...

But it's only the media that even HINTS at anything remotely like massaging egos. I don't believe it, I don't believe that's BB's style, I don't believe that's Brady's style.

I agree the offense is evolving, Moss isn't the same player he was 3 years ago and he's not a part of the future. I just don't buy that he was hurting the locker room or there were detrimental "antics and ego" going on. Well aside from not seeing eye to eye with O'Brien, which I definitely believe and could have become a longer term problem.

That being said, I think our offense will be just fine and hopefully less predictable over time.

Your so right , where we will become more ball control, and that only helps the defense... Like I said im a bit excited about the change...

The strategy might be the same, but the execution... I don't know. We had guys named Seymour and Rodney and Ty on Defense and Clock Killin' Cory D grinding it out... The positive is that Brady is even better with age and experience.

I think I'm going to leave it that the 2010 Team "is what it is," to coin a phrase.
