Every situation doesn't need a villian. This is akin to the kid who goes of to college and leaves behind the high school sweatheart.
Sometime in 2009, management determined the league caught up with the 2007 offense. This is normal in football, otherwise, the "wishbone", "winged t", "run 'n shoot", and "wildcat" would still be prominant.
Moss was in the final year of a contract, wanted an extension, didn't get it. This was coupled with a situation where he saw that the offensive philosophy wasn't where he could put up big numbers to warrant an extension. The two go hand in hand. No extension for a player destined for a dimished role.
Be then conducted himself to get shipped out.
Players have to guard their interests because they are the only ones going to do it. Same for the organization.
This thing ran it's course and is natural. Otherwise, who would ever change jobs if it wasn't natural.
