OT: Most hated and overhyped athletes.

I said "OT"...and if you want me to apply it to the Pats...I hate Ray Lewis and Eli Manning...but unlike Eli, Lewis is legitimately great. I hate his stupid sermons and trash talking and the fact that he (allegedly) was involved in a murder, but he deserves all of the football hype he gets. Eli gets by on his last name and isn't even a top 10 QB in the league.

I also have an irrational hatred for Bart Scott...but the trash talking could have something to do with it.

OT threads pretty much dont fly here. Sure some other team football stuff maybe.

These threads go to one of the several hundred never visited sub forums to languish until they wither and die.

I hate James Harrison, the guys just a complete ******. And hsi story is sketchy as hell. He gets cut by 3 different teams, is a bench warmer for 4 years, then becomes the best pass rusher in the league (arguably) When he's like 29? Yeah nothing suspicious there, definitely no performance enhancing drugs or anything.

Just about every player trash talks [on the field]. But Bart Scott is a straight up jerk, a classic meat head with anger issues. Same with Joey Porter. They can **** off.

Can I add a coach? Because Jeff Fisher is the single most cheap shotting SOB in the league. He sends his goons in to deliberately injure players from other teams.

Yup, just like he did with Rodney Harrison in 2006. I'll never forgive him for that. To make matters worse he's on the competition committee and is buddies with fellow committee scumbag Bill Polian.

Cliff lee is going for texas in game five so you can most likely gtfo with the rays talk. As for the Phills, the pitching staff is nothing special except for Halladay and Its not like the Yankees have never seen doc before. The Yankees have the deepest rotation left and its not like they don't have the bats.

lol, cliff lee has not fared that well against the rays this year. you act like the guy is unhittable. secondly, the phils have halladay, oswalt and hamels, who are better than fat CC, pettitte and hughes.

He's a football player. This is a football forum. Why would he...

Ian really needs to hire cleaners as opposed to moderators...

Board is gravitating towards TMZ and Perez Hilton territory.

It's bye week, give me a break. I don't find the Moss talk all that entertaining...it's all gossip to me. I liked him when he was here, but I didn't love him. I loved his highlight reel catches, but I hate how he only tried when he felt like it and I also got sick of Brady targeting Moss only.

I wish there were more threads about the receiving corps we still have instead of some prima donna that WANTED to leave town and basically gave the team no choice.

And no, I'm not part of the Felger club. I didn't hate Moss, I enjoyed watching him play and I wish him nothing but luck (except on Halloween and if we play him in the SB, but Lord Turnover might have something to say about that.)

But yeah...I just thought it would be interesting to see who people hate as athletes other than the regular "Oh Manning is a goober" stuff. I'm also pissed at the over-coverage of the Heat. You'd think God himself came down from heaven and put on a basketball uniform.

the big 3 on the yankees are overhyped:

1. jeter - made a career mostly of singles

2. arod - made a career out of steroids

3. texeira - $20 million to a .256 hitter

you can throw in cc sabathia who only does well against average teams like the orioles.

1. Jeter's career Slugging is 0.452. Thats pretty darned good, especially for a shortstop. He was typically a 20 HR a season guy, again, damn good for a SS.

2. So did everyone in the Era. He's still one of the best in the game.

3. Texeira had an off year, big deal. He's still one of the best 1B in the game. And way to use BA, the most over-rated and useless stat there is.

sure as **** shut them down in game 1 and I wouldn't bet against him doing it again. And I can comfortably say that if Doc were to win both of his games, Id bet on Phil and Andy to win theirs. The Yankees are winning it all, and face it they are going to re-tool this off season and add Cliff Lee to become the number 2/3 starter. Must suck to be a sox fan.

This is really a 2 parter as I think overhyped and hated can be 2 separate things

Overhyped is Chad Johnson...His career stats look good but he has been a virtual non factor in any big games, too many drops and not enough great games when they count.

Hated is Bart Scott...biggest loudmouth and trash talker in the league

The SOX should of swept the Yanks with their Pawtucket team. This is your last run so enjoy it.

I'm not a Sox fan. I used to be when they had a "team" not a bunch of boring white-collar guys.

I think pretty much anyone who isn't a Yankees fan hates the Yankees. They represent everything that is wrong with baseball.

Imagine if there were no salary cap in football, and one year, the Pats or Colts got Adrian Peterson, and the next year stocked up and got Andre Johnson?

I will say one thing, the Yankees have the balls to spend the extra dollar for the right player (Teixeira even if he's a little overrated) as opposed to the wrong player (J.D. Drew) or not resign a valuable player (Beltre most likely.)

John Henry and his snobby hot wife are laughing all the way to the bank, and his wife is counting the days until he dies and she inherits his fortune. The Steinbrenner family isn't afraid to go the extra step (C.C. Teix overrated or not, the Sox could use them over Dice K or Youk.)

Youk???? His numbers before the injury were great.

As a sox fan you should know that the Yankees will be around until the money and prospects run out and thats not happening any time soon.

You want the Sox to give a long term contract to Beltre? Did you see what happened to him after he got his last one?

It wont matter anyway, hes made it very clear he wants to play and live on the west coast. His wife and kids never moved to Boston this whole year, they stayed in California.
